  • When will the 50,000 be credited to? Last time it was after 6 months of joining or so.

    Important T&C

Your Medibank policy must be current for 6 months before flybuys will credit any BONUS POINTS.

      This kills it.

I would get over $500 in gift cards from hopping to other funds in 6 months

Already up to $500 from July ($200 HCF + $100 Amex hcf credit + $100 bonus/$100 confirmed referral for peoples care) and on 31 oct I qualify for $200 NIB gift card bonus )

      • Don't you have to restart your waiting period each time you change funds though or is there a workaround?

        • +2

No. just provide the transfer certificates on signup

        • +2

You don't have to restart your waiting period if you are covered for the same thing under your old policy (i.e. the duration of the waiting period served is carried over to the new policy) but presumably you'd loss some coverage by switching frequently (e.g. if you have already served the waiting period for a particular item when you switch to a policy that doesn't cover that item for 3 months, then you switch to another policy that does cover that item and you have to serve the waiting period again).

        • @Love a bargain:

Thanks for the info guys! I'll keep that in mind.

        • @flipsahoy: Exactly, what love a bargain said. I worked in the health insurance industry, policies from diff. companies are never the same, and many times people never look into it, so make sure you do your diligence.

I'm only interested in PHI because of the MLS, it's to avoid extra tax. So all the gift cards I get from hopping between funds are a bonus

Otherwise I'm happy with the public system as I find it superior to private hospitals when it comes to medical treatment.

For extra's, I have AHM top level, cost me around $60 a month but end up claiming 4 X that amount per month

        • @easternculture:

I would have no problem being treated as a public patient in a public hospital (not to mention that there is no gap to pay), if only the waiting list at my local public hospital isn't that long. In this part of the country, unless you're seriously dying, it might be years before you get an appointment at a public hospital.

I'm learning it the hard way. Long story short, need a procedure done but it's not covered by my previous policy. Switched policy and serving the 12-month waiting period while I am on the waiting list for an appointment at the public hospital. 6 months in and I'm still waiting.
