My first card wallet still looks like new 6 months in and this is with solid abuse. Liked it so much I bought a black one as well. Seeing as I'm moving overseas in the next 5 months this is perfect.

    • Great to hear and thanks for the support.

How long is the shipping to Sydney? I am leaving for an overseas trip on the 13th and would love to use this seeing as it has RFID protection as well.

    • Guaranteed next day dispatch, and same day dispatch for orders received before 530am. Most orders submitted before 10:30AM will get same day shipping - which I'm finding with Aus post is ~4 business days in Metro Areas.

So for the 13th if you're in a metro area you should make it - but unfortunately there are no guarantees with Aus post.

Thanks mate, you guys wouldn't happen to allow for pick up in Sydney right?

        • We are online only at this stage sorry

  • Sorry what does RFID blocking do?
And is the wallet made in Australia?
    Thank you.

    • Passports/Paywave/PayPass use NFC/RFID and in you can grab info off the cards by being close to the person.

      Note:
AU Passports verify the reader and are pretty secure.
Paywave/PayPass: In AU you are not liable for this fraud.

you can grab encrypted useless (and single time use for paywave) info off the cards by being very very close to the person

        there, fixed that for you

        • +2

Go try your card with a reader like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nxp.taginf…

Name, Card Number and Expiry are in the clear.

          very very close

I don't know any card that does time of flight analysis to figure out how close someone is, you just need the proper equipment to extend your range.

        • @fruit:

Name, Card Number and Expiry are in the clear.

more than I thought they spat out, but:
          - those details arent used for payment information at paywave terminals.
          - Also, without a CVC those numbers arent going to get you much

you could get the same by looking at the front of the card and I havent seen much market for card disguise covers for when people take them out of their wallets ;)

also you need to be very close. The card has no say, but unless you are within a couple of cm you are going to need a pretty large antenna and power source to induce enough current in the cards cable to get any distance.

        • @SBOB: You can fit everything you need in a briefcase for ~3-5m worth of range go look at some Defcon videos. That includes batteries.

Also, without a CVC those numbers arent going to get you much

Some places don't require a CVV2 eg. Amazon

you could get the same by looking at the front of the card

How many cards could you grab by walking around in a crowded city vs. looking carefully at people taking them out of their wallet. It's all about easy and scale.

I don't use a RFID blocking wallet personally but your assessment of the risk is wrong.

    • Hi sol3x, others have answered the RFID question. Regarding where these are made - they are made in China.

I tested so many of the various NFC/RFID blocking solutions very few actually worked. Be sure to test this with an Android phone and 1 card at a time in the wallet before you rely on it.

    Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nxp.taginf…

I'd say iPhone but Apple still hasn't let anyone used the NFC chip that you paid for.

Does multiple cards confuse the reader?
If so just stack at least two together in the wallet?

Do you know the size/dimensions of that wallet?

When I saw the pic with the passport + $50 notes was thinking it would be quite big and hard to fit in the pocket for a guy

    • Hi,
Let me respond properly tomorrow as I don't have one on me - but its about the same dimensions as an Australian Passport. The Aussie Passport fits snugly in a pocket under the cards - or in the flap as shown in the picture. There would only be a few mm above the L x W dimensions of the passport.

As a daily user for jeans/trouser pockets the card wallets would be a better bet - also on sale at $25 delivered.

    • 11cm W x 15.5cm H x 1cm thickness.

It's primary purpose is as a travel wallet. For a daily wallet in your pockets check out the card wallets.

      Thanks,
      David

Just put more than 1 cards in your wallet. The reader can't read out if multiple cards there.

It's not just the wallet, everything else is on sale also.

Cut out aluminium foil the size of the card, put it in your wallet, for extra protection, fold it into double layer and then put it in your wallet.

Then go to a self checkout counter, tap your wallet on the PayWave machine. The payment should not go through because it can't detect your card.

That's what I do for my own wallet and tested it in Woolies

Personally I prefer a travel wallet that is large enough to hold passport, boarding passes, a couple of sheets of A4 paper, currency and a few cards. A place to store the current boarding pass on the outside and a zipper are optional extras.

My view is that if my bank, or Visa Corp, want a safe environ for my card then they can supply gratis. Having had cards skimmed/copied on two occasions over the years, led them to lose out as the cards are 'insured' against fraudulent use.
