  • Jelly beans are rubbish these days.
Back in the day the outer colourful bit wasn't so over sweet, the inner bit wasn't bland rubberyness. Ye OK, you can eat the over sweet outer bit, but why bother swallowing the inner bland? Spit it out I say, its not like its an inverted eat ya broccoli 'fore desert.
Is the modern jellybean meant to be vigorously munched mixing the over sweet with the inner bland, has the world come to this?
Things just get worse and worse.

    • oh humbug!

    • +1

Back in the day they still talked normal.

    • +1

Agree unless you get the ones from the chemist: they're the best

      • +1

Yeah, those Glucojel ones from the chemist made for a quick glucose fix are easily the best. The only ones I'll eat.

I have a jar of 18 year old jelly beans in the lab I use for chromatography. I tell the kids, see these real artificial colours and flavours none of that rubbish non-artificial rubbish , real E130 and hell knows what else in these beauties. You don't know what you missed out on, now all you get is crushed insect wings not like in my days.

  • Bought a lot of paint yesterday from Dulux Trade centre and found out that they are not participating in this promotion.

  • +3

I like the deal where you purchase a bag of jellybeans at Aldi for a few dollars and you get a bag of jellybeans.

    • Made in Germany too

  • can i return the unopened paint for a refund?

  • didnt they used to be 4l cans of jelly beans

    • Yeah I think so, threw 10 year old jelly beans recently barely made a dent in the can.

    • Yes, they still are! It's a 4L tin containing what I assume is 2.5kg of Jelly Beans.

  • +3

Scored four tins of these about 3 weeks ago from the operator behind the Bunnings tinting counter when I purchased over 32L of paint in one hit. I didn't even know the promotion was on but hey I didn't say no ;) It must've still been early days as I had to explain the rules to the front register operator who was puzzled when the barcode on the tins weren't scanning. They didn't believe they actually contained Jelly Beans until I shook one of them but they didn't seem to care either way as it was 8:55pm afterall. I only saw 'one tin per transaction' in the fine print on the TV ad a few days ago so ha-ha Dulux & Bunnings, you cheated yourselves out of a massive $10 worth of promotional sugar ;) Just getting down to the final kilo on the first tin with 8+ kilos left to go… but I doubt my gut will keep up. Very decent quality Jelly Beans and in great flavours. I think they're the proper 'Glucose' ones as they taste the same as the nicer ones you get from the Chemist.

    • +1

and do you have any intention to use the 32 litres of paint or was this just a willy wonka moment you had at 8.55pm?

      • +1

Ha, yes! I'm in the middle of a reno so blew $600+ on Dulux paint… because it's good stuff, not because of the promotion ;) I've consumed about 1kg of beans while sanding tongue & groove ceilings over the last week and a bit. Absolute hell of a job but the existing paint was so crap it just had to be done and the Jelly Beans really did help to punch through the pain threshold each 15-20 minutes to get the job completed. I'll be using one of the other tins to throw at kids for Halloween… the Jelly Beans, not the tin.
