  • i probably should get one of this for ps3 yea? if i am to play 3d games, given that ps3 will upgrade the firmware and enable 3d movies or whatever

anyone know if i can just take the advantage by having a non 3d tv?

Unfortunately, you will need compatible hdmi 1.4 equipment (a 3d tv) to enjoy the ps3 3d games. The number of tv's, home theatre equipment with hdmi 1.4 is increasing but in your case you won't benefit - at least in the short term - from buying this cable. This cable won't give short term benefits to everyone but it is a future proof option sold at a similar price to previous hdmi specs that have a lower manufacturing cost at the moment.

    • As explained, using this cable with a PS3 will only utilize 1.3 standards. From what I understand, the PS3 will use a 1080i 120Hz image, as this would then be the same bandwidth as normal 1080p at 60Hz. It won't actually be possible (unless something cool happens…?) to have 1080p at 120Hz with a current PS3 ever, but it's brilliant they are doing this much (:

Amazing price by the way, Thankyou!

please guys! you beleive the PS3 could handle 3D games? Its GPU is similar to an 8800GT, quite an old card, and is no where near the specs for stereoscopic gaming. That'd take a $500 card, so hope the PS4 will sport 3D.

      • -1

Ummm… the 8800GT is quite capable of doing 1920*1080 at 60fps on most games, just not crysis and the like, I doubt any ps3 games will be as intensive as Crysis anyway.

  • Before anyone purchases this, read this article:

TLDR: -comment retracted - As OP comments this is a future proof purchase.

There is a lot of concussion at the moment but HDMI 1.4 cables are definetely retro-compatible. I am currently watching the world cup on my hdmi 1.3 tv with one of these cables being offered ;-)

    From the hdmi.org website:

Are HDMI 1.4 devices going to be backwards-compatible with older HDMI (v.1.0 - 1.3) devices?
Yes, devices built to the HDMI 1.4 specification will be fully backwards-compatible with existing HDMI devices and their features.

EDIT: I might have got your reply wrong. New futures provided by hdmi 1.4 cables will only benefit those with hdmi 1.4 equipment however these cables will work with your existing equipment.

while some of the debate has been quite animated… I am not sure if anyone has actually suffered from "concussion" yet :p

      • Giggles.

    • New futures provided by hdmi 1.4 cables

I am sceptical as to if a v1.4 cable is necessary.

Getting say HDMI 1.3 from a v1.2 cable is not an issue.

Getting 1.4 features form a 1.3 cable should be fine too.

  • Glad to unintentionally provide some comic relief haha.
PS: Note to self: Revise for grammar errors.

  • Any chance of cables slightly longer than 2M? I have to run from a PC to a projector atm.
MSY's faulty cables are still my best budget option.

    • There are plenty of larger HDMI 1.4 cables available on the store however these are not on special so if you are going budget they might not interest you as much.
For instance the 3M HDMI 1.4 cable goes for 19.9, 5M 29.9. All include free shipping.

  • Thanks for the post, got 1 for the future TV ;)

I'm not interested in the cables, but I wanted to comment that I like this store owner, he/she is very frank clear and not at the slightest misleading (AFAIK).

  • Ordered 1x1m and 1x1.5m, as HDMI is the new cable you can't have too many of (like RCA's).

  • Just wondering, what is the difference between these cables and the PRO cables, apart from aesthetics?

        .

  • Ordered 2x1m cables this morning, hopefully I'm not too late.

    • You are not late. There is still stock ;-)
The product will change automatically of status to "out of stock" when the product stocks out.

      • Ok, thanks!

  • Order placed on 18th June, cable still not received.
Email sent to HD City not answered. It's only $5.99 but that's not the point.
    Not happy.

      Hi,
I am deeply sorry for the issues you have been experiencing with us. After cross-checking the date, product, your nickname and our emails I have found your email which was opened but by mistake overlooked/not replied.
Anyhow, we re-sent your order this Monday, a couple of days after receiving your email. I am not sure why you did not get replied.

  • Has anyone got theirs?

I ordered 4 of these cables and never got them.!

    • I am really sorry for that. Please contact us with your order at salesathdicity.comau number and will make sure your goods are re-shipped via overnight delivery. I am aware that after sending hundreds and hundreds of these cables some have gone missing via auspost, some have been sitting in post offices. We have already re-shiped some even via courier overnight means and adding few extra cables.

  • Has everyone received their cables?
