    Thanks OP!

399$ for 500GB o.O? so no special price for that

So whats the best possible way to get a discount? price match big w with 5% off wish card?

    • Agreed.

  • +9

PS4 Pro is 4 weeks away FYI.

    • -3

And? Not everyone wants/needs the Pro.

      • +4

        I want it!

      • +4

States For Your Information. It doesn't require a And?

    • At this price..?

      • +1

No, they are different products, why would they be at the same price.

Maybe the guy is just reminding/warning those people that there is a superior alternative out soon.

        • -1

So why even suggest it as an alternative then if it's targeted at a different type of gamer?

        • +1

@Orpheus: A console gamer who likes PlayStation exclusive games? That is the same type of gamer.

        • -1

@FabMan: How much extra is the pro? $100?

        • +1

          @Orpheus:

$560, so $160 more for more than double the graphical power, a faster CPU and a slight bump to RAM speed leading to better graphics for many games and a more stable FPS in many more.

        • +1

@FabMan: Thanks Fab, I specifically came here to work out if the PS4 Slim had the extra graphics power I had heard about and was looking for. I now know to wait for the Pro. Cheers!

  • I reckon no one buys them.

    • +1

i actually sold my ps4 + extra controller in anticipation for the PS4 Pro just before the slim and pro were announced as it was getting super noisy and battery's on controllers did not keep there charge as long as they used to after 3 years usage got $450 for it on gumtree and considering i got it when dicksmith was having those crazy 20% sales i only lost about $10

now i am not going to go buy the pro at launch will be waiting for another 20% off deal or a decent bundle but i can't wait to see what its like on my 4k 65" screen even if its not native 4k still have better wifi, 4k youtube and netflix and nice new controller.

      • +1

Yeah sure it's noisy but for me aesthically, the old ps4 is still better looking. You should have just attached an earphone to your controller if you're that bothered by the noise that much. And having a 65' tv, I assume the tv sits far from you. With my one, I can't hear the noise from about 2.5m away. Controller, would be pretty much the same, nothing really changed except that you can now see that light from the trackpad, that's it. Good job on selling it for $450 by the way! :)

      • Interesting when you consider people are shelling out over $800 just for a PC video card these days.

        • true, but at least I haven't had to upgrade my computer in nearly 4 years where my console of 2 years has been 'upgraded' to a 4.5.

      • Those sentences were really long.

  • Thanks OP! I don't have a 4k TV and has been looking for a deal! This is good enough for me :) FFXV here I come!

    • FFXV is not quite there yet. But can't wait myself. :)

  • In term of specs any difference slim ps4 and non slim ps4?

    • No. Oh, Slim is missing optical output.

  • This or XBox One S? :)

    • +1

Depends on what you want out of it. IMO the Xbone wins by virtue of having 4K bluray capabilities. Outside of that, only you know which games you prefer :)

      • Agreed in regards to 4K bluray, I get this whole digital age/streaming thing but books and blurays are two things I will always buy physical copies of. Something about actually having it in your hands thats just right. So can you play normal blurays on the slim PS4 or not? Might just jump on the PS4 bandwagon this time round or wait till Xmas/boxing day…? PC convert

Dont have a 4K tv….. yet, so the Pro is probably a waste?

        • -2

Re: books. I wonder if the same argument was made when converting from clay tablets to papyrus. "But the clay tablet just feels so right…"

        • Can play normal BR, just not UHD BR. Oddly enough, the Pro also cannot play UHD BR.

        • With the PS4 Pro you have many graphics choices like:4k upscaled or 1080P 60 fps full details..them said..

        • +1

@dogboy: I prefer parchment made from human skin myself…nothing beats that new Necronomicon smell! ;)

        • @Ciccillo:
What they say and what they deliver almost never is the same.

In my opinion, this option will be nixed VERY quickly.
The PS4 plays (most) games at 1080p/25fps*/Medium graphics. And playing the same game on the PS4 Pro will probably be the same, excluding the frame rates which will probably stay somewhere around 35fps. Because most games aren't going to opt-in, and its going to be a mixed bag for games coming forward.

The games that do opt-in will make the choice for you in terms of graphics, resolution and frame rate.
          You won't get to choose.

I think fast-paced titles (eg Overwatch) might stay the same 1080p resolution, but they'll amp-up to 60fps, and maintain similar graphic settings (PC's Medium).
And then cinematic titles (eg Until Dawn) will bump resolution to 1440p (upscale to 2160p), target the same 25fps, and increase graphics settings (to a PC's Very High).

However, I think most games will opt for something in the middle, like a bump to 1440p resolution, maintain a better 35fps framerate, and a slight increase to a High graphic settings.
…and most people won't notice the improvements, and enthusiast that do might be better served with the Xbox Scorpio or a PC.

          Rant:
If you ask me, the PS4 Pro is what the PS4 should have been from the start.
The SNES was a powerhouse (graphically) when it released in 1990, but still eclipsed by PC's that were x3 more expensive. The PS1 was a powerhouse in 1994. The PS2 was a powerhouse in 2000. The Xbox was a powerhouse in 2002. The Xbox 360 was a powerhouse in 2006. The PS3 was like-power house in 2007.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 were below their thresholds back in 2013
          …getting killed by DUAL-core i3-4130 and POWER-less socket Nvidia's GTX 750Ti. Low-end stuff.
If the PS4 followed in the previous footsteps of consoles, which is to say, releasing something that is mid-range PC quality they would've used both a faster cpu and gpu.
…something along the lines of (Core i5-4590T and GTX 960) or (AMD A10-6800K and R9-380)
…or along the lines of the Alienware Alpha R2.

*Titles are locked to 30fps, but there are plenty of dips to 25fps, see Fallout 4 as an example.

        • @Kangal:
Alright, just a follow-up to my previous comment.

Remember that Nvidia GTX 750Ti I referenced earlier?
It is a GPU that beats the PS4 and Xbox One… AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A POWER SOCKET.
That means it will fit into small pcs. And even Pre-built PCs that have a so-so PSU can handle this.
          Like this. Or this.

Well, Nvidia's just released the GTX 1050Ti.
It also does NOT have a POWER socket, runs straight off the PCIE slot.
If the PS4 Pro cannot surpass this level of performance… it is off to a BAD START.

And based on what we know/infer… the GTX 1050Ti should come around the performance of the GTX 970.
That means it will also come close to the performance of the PS4 Pro, RX 480, and Xbox Scorpio.
Good times ahead for PC Gamers : )

  • Currenlty only have an Xbox One but want a Ps4…Is this a good deal to run with or wait for the PRO. My TV is not 4K capable

    • why? because of exclusive games on PS4 (God of War??)

      • Just really to play online with some mates who have a Ps4, also would love to try out the Uncharted series

  • Here's my receipt for the non-slim 1TB for $359 from ebgames in case anyone needs the optical out/wants to save $40.

All PS4 1TB consoles are slim. The one you've got is the Ultimate Player 1TB, i can assure you it's slim. I hope you didn't buy it just on the assumption that it was non slim.

Also i don't know how you got it for that price as it the PS4 Ultimate Player Edition 1TB is priced at $549 on the EB Games web site? https://ebgames.com.au/ps4-202686-PlayStation-4-1TB-Ultimate…. That $359 would be the bargain of the week. I suspect that salesperson has price matched the PS4 1TB console release from Target according to that discount line on the sales invoice, but the Target one is the bog standard PS4 1TB release, it's not Ultimate Player 1TB. I think the salesperson has stuffed up. The Ultimate Player 1TB release is worth way more and it's essentially a different product release than what Target is selling.

      • All PS4 1TB consoles are slim.

That's going to be interesting news to all the people who bought their 1TB PS4 a year before the slim was released!

        • My mistake and i take it back it's non slim. But now it seems they later released a 1TB on the old non slim chassis and called it Ultimate Player. I mistakenly thought the original non slim PS4 only came with a 500GB HDD model.

Still a great price for that PS4 Ultimate 1TB even if it might have been a pricing mistake by the salesperson.

        • @hollykryten: So what did you show the guy at EB Games to get the price match?

        • @NilFBosh: I showed them the Target link and they had no issues. The only issue you may have is finding stock.

          $329 500GB https://www.target.com.au/p/playstation-4-5-gb-console-black…
          $359 1TB https://www.target.com.au/p/playstation-4-1tb-console-new-c-…

        • @4892: yea but did that link mentions the price of the slim. Holly got the Ultimate player. Was this the link that was shown to the salesperson at EB games?

        • @NilFBosh:
I showed the guy this link and he had no problem price matching. It's not the slim, it's the C-Chasis which is the the revision before the slim. (Still looks decent and had the optical out port)

          https://www.target.com.au/p/playstation-4-1tb-console-new-c-…

The store I went to (Carousel WA) had 10+ 1TBs left when I got mine the other week.

        • @NilFBosh:

Sorry, i didn't get any thing. You're mistaking me for some one else.

  • I'm waiting to see which tech has the best (and best value) VR. Obviously Sony is bringing it to market first, but I'm hoping there will be better value in the MS offerings.

    Imagine Forza Horizon in VR.

  • Just noticed they changed the price on their ebay site as well. Might be a good time to use your $100 ebay voucher from groupon.

    • Is this the $85 for $100 groupon thing?

  • +1

Dropped by earlier, 500gig slim is $399 and next to it is the 1TB slim for $400. Plenty of stock

  • I smell a looming price crash…
