Those have been listed for around a week now. I can't imagine they'll sell out in an hour.

99% Adobe RGB is nice but 2560x1600 isn't amazing.

    • Unfortunately all monitors are a compromise somewhere.

      I'd like a 35" G-Sync IPS 144hz refresh panel with 1ms response time.

      Unfortunately they don't exist.

IPS gives you great colours, but slower response time.

This panel will give you excellent colour and image. It will suffer from reasonable input lag.

It's a professional monitor designed for business use, but will game OK. I have it's older brother, the U3014, and it goes OK though I would love it to be 100hz and G-Sync :(

For this money, what monitor would you choose ahead of this??

        I'd go for something like the LG 31MU97. 31", 99.5% Adobe RGB, 4096x2160 IPS-LED.
        $1449 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/29708/lg-31mu97-b-31in-w…
It's more monitor for the money.

        • I had the 3007-HC and 3014 - I ditched that and went to a 3415W. For what I do, I feel the monitor is better (gaming and office work). However, the monitor suffers from pretty severe BLB, which is an annoyance.

While I really like Dell monitors and their support, the cheap koreans (Crossover/QNIX) will likely be my next purchase, as I have a few of them already and want to go 32" 4k Freesync.

I like that LG 31MU97-B. Thanks for the link.

Now to try to find it in one of those 20% off EBAY sales.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter:

The LG specs are good, but 24hz via HDMI??

Wow, not good. At least it will do 60hz via DP.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter: Here is a refurbished one

          LG 31MU97-B 17:9 Digital Cinema 4K IPS LED Monitor $999 + delivery.

        • @Wally Simmonds:

Wally how do you find the curve on the 34" ?

I am a little old-school so I have resisted buying a curved monitor or TV.

From the TV point of view I dont think I'll ever go curved - because it seems to me curved TV's are only good if you are sitting directly in front of it.

PC monitors that is exactly what you are doing, so I am less concerned. Not having owned one, I am curious if you'd prefer curved or old-school flat?

          @GreatWhiteHunter:

Tbh, I don't even notice it. I wouldn't even really consider it a feature at all.

However, if you had two monitors with a curve and not curved, and they were both the same specs and price, I would likely choose the curved model.

  • Agree - these have been around over a week. They originally had 37 units, so must of sold 2 over the week. Given this then extremely unlikely to sell within 2 hr.

  • Haha I also noticed they have been around and no one is buying them at this price. May be they will sell out if well under $1000.

  • Had a dell 30". Sold it for a 27" G-Sync 160hz

    • +1

      Are you happy you did?

Once I have 30", I never want less.

      • I would have been, if the 27" wasn't DOA sigh. But I don't think i'll be unhappy once the replacement comes. 27" is still an excellent size, and G-Sync and 160hz gaming will be unreal

        • Was the 27" a Dell or something else?

        • @cyrax83:

I like the Asus 34" G-Sync, but it seems both Acer and Asus have quality issues a fair bit of the time with their G-Sync monitors.

How are you finding Acer technical support?

One thing I would say for Dell, if I've ever had a problem, their warranty replacement service has been outstanding.
Next day delivery of a replacement - however sometimes the replacement isn't new (refurb).

Then again they did replace my 3007 with a brand new 3008.

And they replaced my 3011 with a brand new 3014…

        • @cyrax83: This is what I am looking at getting although a little concerned about the reports of poor quality units being shipped. Guess it is luck of the draw :(

  • The Dell 30" models haven't really dropped in price over the years, have they?

  • Ask a rep nicely to list one on eBay for you for a further 20% off.

  • +1

Have been able to get it here new for a while @ this price $1269 (not delivered) : http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Dell+UP3017…

    • +1

      That is a nice deal.

It's $43.80 delivery to me in NSW - so you get brand new with 3 year warranty for $1312.80 - that is a better deal than the DFO deal I have posted!

  • Nice monitor, but hardly a bargain compared to: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/266595

That one has 10% fewer pixels, 14% smaller, but 1/4 the price at DFO!
Also higher resolution (117 vs 101 dpi, more compact). Bigger screen is better in the lounge, but not on the desktop, where you can just move it a little closer.
Spend some of the change on a swing-arm mount. Hell, make it a double, two monitors, and still $500 left for booze and coke.

      Do you seriously think a 25" monitor compares to a 30" ?

I also have a 27" Dell and it seems tiny compared to the 30". 25" would be miniscule in comparison.

Dual monitor setups can be fine for some uses, but when gaming you just want one big beautiful screen. I used to run one 27" and one 30" side by side, but I found I didn't actually use the 2nd screen enough to justify it - and getting rid of it gave me more desk space.

      I'd much prefer a single 30" to 2 x 25".

      • I also have a 27" Dell and it seems tiny compared to the 30".

Its all in your head. There is only a 10% difference. Move it 10% closer and it looks exactly the same.

The perceived "tinyness" is 90% psychological. Which is real, but only temporary.

getting rid of it gave me more desk space.

The desk space issue is the best reason for using a swing-arm monitor. Even while in use, the desk space under the monitor is available.

If inches really do it for you, try:
        http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-usage/pc-monitor/best
(Only problem is they lack DisplayPort, so you may need a new graphics card.)

I only mention that solution as it is cheap, and this is a bargains forum.
The 30" Dell is a great monitor, but not exactly high in the bang-for-buck department.

And they are now sold out.

If you missed out, Kabunka's deal for $1269 + delivery is probably a better option anyway.

For not a lot more money (or less if you can pickup in Melbourne) you get 2 extra years of warranty plus a guaranteed brand new unit.

    http://cplonline.com.au/dell-up3017-ultrasharp-30-ips-monito…

If you chat to Dell sales they may even match the $1269 + delivery price….

    • Says Qty 35 for me….

      • OP's self-fulfilling prophecy. 😂😂😂

        • Try calling Dell and ordering one. They are still on the web site but are sold out.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter: They still have 30 UP3017 left at the moment. You can double check it.

By the way, your other post, that with 3yr warranty, is a good deal.

        • @O O:

The web site still says 30, but if you call up, they have zero left. Try it if you don't believe me.

I asked them why they dont update their web site - they said they only update irregularly - silly system but if you try to buy one of the "30" showing, you will be told they are all already sold.

  • Great monitors, have a 3011 that is still going strong.

Super sharp image, very good color accuracy.

16:10 aspect ratio is good for photo and video editing, typing, web browsing etc but the height is wasted on gaming.
