Still too expensive… Waiting for 99%off

    • Me too 😊

      • Well they're certainly not the Masters of sales that's for sure. Even though they claim to have "listened" to us.

  • +6

    Meh..

  • +3

Tried really hard to find a bargain yesterday

    • +1

      Did it pay off? lol

      • +2

        No

        • +3

So did I… Some indoor blinds were cheap. Story ends.

  • +7

Gone from 15% off everything to 20%
    Wow
Don't get trampled going through the doors

  • +16

Wouldn't trust them after the recent masters scam i.e. Retagged an item $150 from $75

    • +6

      Sceptical about that one.

    • Yeah I saw sanli brushcutters being sold for about 169 minus 20% but they were selling them for 95 a while back

      • +4

Yeah Woolies was selling Coke at 42c a can and now they sell it at 50c.

Why dont people look at the ads carefully. 50% off Original prices, isnt 50% off the last price.

The bargains are as good as the price people are willing to pay. Others here are bitching about no stock. Those brushcutters would have sold out long agao if they were that sale price beforehand. My Stanley drill kits are still more than what I paid (an Ozbargain deal months ago). But these were also subsidised or clearance from the supplier.

Its a closing down sale. Thats truth in advertising

On the last day you'll probably get 95% off washers for a 1955's toilet cistern, since they wont have sold before then (Granny doesn't visit ozbaragin)

  • anyone know the discount on electrical i.e. batteries and powerboards? undecided whether i go today or tomorrow

    • +1

Pretty sure last night the sign said 30%off batteries

      • thanks. these discounts move at a glacial pace

    • +1

      40% for powerboards

  • +1

I've been tracking an item for 6 weeks now and it hasn't moved from 20% in 4 weeks until this sale it goes up to 25%. At 40% it becomes an ok buy. Waiting waiting waiting

    • It will be like dick smith the 'up to' X% will keep increasing over time but the number of items the higher percentage applies to will decrease each time.

    • -1

How have you been tracking the item in question?

      • Go into the store every three days and take a photo. Simple

        • you better off buying it and dont bother about driving in to take a photo every 3 days

    • during the occasional extra 10% days did it budge?

      • Yeah only got to 15% then the 10% extra sale happened…. hopefully they'll have another of those days soon

  • +3

Them Masters boys are good at baiting.

    • +1

Yes. Just waiting for them to cough come to the party.

    • +5

      Master baiters!

      • +3

        Yes, that was the joke.

  • +1

bet there are some items with no discount so i assume the posters say up to 50%.
    be careful with chainsaws.
guy last week almost bought one but found it didnt come with the chain. they wouldnt discount even though it lackedthe chain.
always check contents are in the box…

    • +1

Yep I tried to buy the last drill bit set that was missing 2 bits (out of 5).

      No discount - walked away.

  • +2

No bargains until of mid of November.

    • +3

      2017?

      • in 1 month

  • Spot any bargains in the plants / seed department? Looking for vegetable seeds, maybe a passion fruit vine..

    • Just buy a passionfruit from a fruit and veg store and you'll have plenty of seeds.

      • +2

Depends what state you live in. Down in Vic you need a grafted one.

        • Is that due to climate? Here they grow like weeds from seed, I had to cut two back severely earlier this year, they were going bonkers.

        • @foobar: Yes. And yeah, the grafted ones grow like crazy too. I have one growing around my vege patch.

      • A good point. I shall do this instead!

    • Seeds were EMPTY at the Scoresby/Knoxfield store in Vic. They've either been snapped up at a not-so-good price or recalled or staff have got them?

      • Same at Landsdale WA

        • -1

Same at my store, but I went to the reject shop just afterwards and they were selling the same brand of seeds (also the same varieties as the last few left at masters). I wonder if masters sold them to the reject shop?

        • +2

@videoman: Its closing down, they are getting rid of ALL stock. People are going and buying it, and its not being replaced. Damn inconsiderate that others have got there before you.

  • There are bargains to be had but there is also plenty of meh. Like most sales you still need to check, if they weren't competitive before the sale they won't be now.

  • Not worth the effort of visiting the very few Masters there are around the place, there were still better bargains before all this liquidation stuff started.

  • I got the email a few hrs ago that said 30%-60% off (not 25%-50%)

    30% OFF
    BBQs
    Outdoor furniture
    Lawn mowers
    Outdoor pots
    Hand tools
    Power tools

    40% OFF

    Indoor blinds
    Indoor lighting

    60% OFF
    Wallpaper
    Carpets
    Fixings

    • +2

I just got the email about an hour ago and it said 20%-50% off.

  • +1

Masters at Oakleigh were closed this morning so that the staff could perform a fire drill! Unfortunately there was no fire sale to be had for those customers who bothered waiting for the store to re-open.

    • That's when you know you really don't care, when you pull stunts like that to get out of working

  • +2

Wait for the extra 10% off on Sunday

  • +2

I went to masters last Sunday and it was already 15-50% off plus we got the extra 10% off on top of that no deal.

    • Yes. The pattern seems to be drop 5% some stuff one week, the rest the following week and then a one/two day only 10% on the next weekend after that.

Provided they follow that pattern you are best waiting for the next 10% off day at least.

  • Seems to get cheaper on Sundays

    Love the sub head…
    "Many items now under cost!"
BS. Even at at 50% off I reckon they're still making decent margin on most items.

Does anyone know the average margins for a hardware business?

    • +3

      Love the statement…

      BS….

      Then the

Does anyone know the average margins for a hardware business?

Just like when the Sheriff shot the purp

      then asked

Does anyone know if he committed the crime?

      😃

  • How much does a plastic box cost in China, 20c, plus freight could double the price, so maybe 50c
Then call it stackable storage box with crackable lid $20
They have to keep the lights on so there more costs at the retail end
Of course they will be all gone before they get near cost
Good luck getting a woolworrths chick to refund anything

  • +4

Love the whinging on here. I'm happy with my purchases so far.

58% off skirting. I took 120m of it. Scraps now left in that style. If you want any wood products I would be getting in now.
Honda brush cutter $418. Now none left. http://www.mowersgalore.com.au/brushcutters-line-trimmers/ho…
Garage door opener $160. Took the second last one. https://www.bunnings.com.au/chamberlain-handylift-plus-garag…

If you want a lawnmower the prices are decent. The EGO is now below $500 which I believe is the cheapest it has ever been. Plenty available though. Vanities are around half price too if you are interested.

    • Bought the EGO mower last weekend.

Sales must be affected as EGO are now offering $70 cashback for all retailers except Masters.

  • Any decent drills?

    • There are decent drills. Maybe not for their prices :)

  • Anyone know what the current discount is on plumbing (taps, tap accessories,…)?

    • 40% off, but not many taps left.

  • +1

Wanted to buy the MSG 450E Lawnmower from Masters. Have been keeping and eye on the price.
When the fire sale started it was $279 less 15% off. Got e-mail from Masters yesterday telling now 25% off. Went to the local store….SURPRISE!!!!!! $329 less 25%…

  • Does anyone that has been into a store recently know what price the Ego Power+ Chainsaw is selling for now with the discounts?

    • As far as I can tell the discount hasn't changed recently. They have been 30% off for at least a week (I was there on Sunday when it was a further 10% off)

That would make them currently $209.30/$293.30 if I remember right.

  • -1

Anyone buying stuff lately thinking they got a deal has been scammed and an ACCC investigation is underway investigating the false discounts. Masters jacked up prices, proof has been posted here and plenty of anecdotes too. Stay away from Masters.

    • Well they aren't doing a very good job at scamming then. Explain to me how I have been scammed by Masters? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4082736/redir

      • Went in today to take advantage of their 20% off on power tools. They jacked up the prices. Bosch concrete drill was $199 now $229….

    • Well done for reporting them

    • +1

      an ACCC investigation is underway

How about a link to where this is reported to be happening.

  • There will be some great bargains on what's left soon
    Patience People

  • just got an email from masters: extra 10% off total purchase for monday and tuesday
