  • Hows the OS?
Because I bought an overseas version of a MP4 player and the interface sucks.
I cannot fast-forward properly and it randomly skip songs and episodes.

I will get one if I can see any reviews on this product!

    • I personally have a sansa fuze, top mp3 player for the $$$ i paid. Sound quality is unreal.

      • How come Sansa stuff has such great sound compared to similar products? Even my little Sansa clip leaves anything Apple in the dust

        • Probably because it is louder, and people find it hard to tell quality. The biggest difference in mp3 players is headphones, since they all use very similar hardware to decode mp3.

Apple limit how loud there devices go.

          • @cakesy: I use the same pair of expensive headphones on all my devices. All Apple-fanboyism aside, Sansa's sound quality is much better.

Ipod Touch is more fun though :)

    • Just to add after a few googling around Whirlpool members have a few comments about this player.
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/107…

Can anyone else comment on it?

Here's the review I did of it a while ago. Still have the device but haven't used it since I got my smartphone that plays everything I can throw at it.

      http://stuartjmurray.blogspot.com/2009/01/aldi-pure-8gb-mp4-…

      • That is a brilliant review … and why i returned the unit to Aldi 6 days later ;)

      • Brilliant review Stuart!
I will consider the pros and cons of it before buying!
Hmm, did you post the review on Whirlpool too? =)

        Would you recommend it?

        • Thanks :) yeah that was the same review I posted on Whirlpool. If it was still a year and a half ago when I did that review, I probably would recommend it, but I'm sure there are better players out now. However, it is only $50, and there seems to be a fair few options when it comes to upgrading the firmware that it comes with now and the chance of bricking your unit is probably less (which is why I didn't try it at the time). It has a 12 month warranty, so sure, I think you'll have fun with it :)

    Hi guys,

This seems to be the PURE MP4 player previously sold at ALDI. Supposely this is the legitimate rebadged version of the Rams RM970 -> Please note: This MP4 is very reliable with a firmware update (Pentagram Firmware - Please see www.mp4nation.com and head for the Ramos section. The user “Orange” has done alot of developement with this firmware)

    Pro’s:
    -Good Battery life
-Plays “most” (depending on quality of encoding) of the avi files you download from the net
    -Strong battery life
    -Beautiful display
    -hot swap micro sd

    Con’s:
-right angle to see the screen
-needs abit of work to update the firmware
    -non-touchscreen
    -buttons are incredibly tiny

Overall, this hardware is extremely outdated but it is essence it is a very reliable MP4 player.

And there is no user called “Orange” that I can see on that website.

I think lantol mean “maderin1” who writes a lot about customization and has an orange as their avatar.

  • it seems with the unknown brands you can have newer hardware but buggy firmware, or older mature hardware with several generations of refined firmware-i have a similar non name touch screen version with the rockchip 27XX that i got from ebay about 18 months ago, similar features and pros/cons, except i put in a larger battery, great little player, you don't have to convert most video files

  • cool can change firmware to android

    • Where did you find that?
