      Depends what your using it for. The G1610T is smaller but this means it's not as expandable. The ML10 V2 has 4 RAM slots, a more powerful processor, full sized expansion card slots.

    Silly question. For the Microserver bezel kit, do you get all the four colours or do you have to choose? If you have to choose, where do we put the option.

      Not a silly question at all, these are in our Warehouse, not in our store, so i actually cant check by opening one up.

      Ive tried HPs website, but the Bezels are no longer on their website so i cant get a spec.

      Im assuming its one of 2 things:

      1. All the colours
      2. one colour / luck of the draw

      Would any Bargainers have bought the face plate before? Feel free to jump in :)

          Because of the ambiguity.. im going to drop the price of the bezel kit down to $25, anyone who has already bought one will be refunded the difference in full :)

      1 vote for freenas here. But really it depends what your requirements are.

      ZFS is great for bit advance systems. but if you are looking to use with Windows server/desktop as a fileserver, you could use something like StableBit DrivePool or storage spaces in windows itself.

      I use windows 10 as my homeserver with StableBit Drive Pools which gives you so much flexibility with creating pools with multiple different HDDs. It also provides data-redundancy in multiple drives.

      I run Plex, backup all my data from other PCs, upload photos to Google, upload music to Google. It all works pretty well.

    Not having played with these before, if I chuck something like Windows Storage Server on it, is the RAID hot-swap?

    Yes, I've read the blurb on the web site but it says:

    Drive description

    (4) LFF SATA; Non-hot plug, depending on model

    So no clear answer there. I can live with non-hotplug as long as the system reports disk errors rapidly so I can shut down and replace, but I prefer hot swap.

    Sorry for the noob question. These things look like I'd get more out of them than say a QNAP or Thecus NAS.

      No, unfortunately it's not hot-swap out of the box. However, if you wanted to get your hands dirty a bit and get the IBM M1015 HBA card (should be around 150 AUD on Ebay), flash it to IT mode and then put it in the server and connect the internal HDD cable to it, you would be having hot-swap plus you'll also have full 6 Gbps bandwidth across all the drives (currently only drives 1 and 2 would be 6 and the other two would be 3 Gbps).

    Anyone who ordered a Microsever actually have theirs ship yet? I thought mine shipped on Monday but turns out it was just the memory as that's all that turned up. Not happy as its unlikely to turn up by the weekend now. Why they dont offer free pickup for locals i dont know. Would have been quicker for me to just pick it up. One of the downsides of online shopping.
