Microsoft Wireless Desktop Keyboard and Mouse (Optical Desktop 2000) $4.95 from OfficeWorks

107

Went to Officeworks in Vic Park WA to suss out a new printer seeing all the deals going for them.
When I got there I looked in the catalouge on page 10 they have 'Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000' $29.95 get cash back of $10 however the MS cash back flyer says the cash back is $25 not $10!!

So in the end it costs only $4.95!

I asked the sale guy at the store if it was a mistake and he said they go with what ever the catalouge says and the catalouge clearley said "Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000' you pay $29.95"

However I think its a printing mistake and its supposed to be 'Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 Keyboard' which is $29.95 cause the Optical desktop is $99.95 but they hounred it so I got no complaints.

I couldnt beleive I got myself another deal just like this one I posted from JB http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/2693 for a MS wirless deskstop again for less than $5 in space of 3 days!

My bro was on my back for not getting him one of those $3 ones from JB so now can give him that one and I will keep the $5 one for myself!

Been a sweet 3 days for deals in WA!!

  • What is happening to those Microsoft keyboard+mouse combos that they have to sell them at this price? I don't want to comment on their software, but I reckon Microsoft has actually made some descent hardware…

    • Ive just returned from a store, and it has officially been marked as "pricing error" in their system.

      So dont waste your time!

  • I cant find it on the site and that link scotty added doesnt work, just like DSEs site, they suck, what morons design a site that cant have direct links to products.

  • Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000 Mouse - TEMST8424. $99.98 on their website.

  • go to the online catalouge and look at page 10, the online sales site shows it at the correct price of $99.95 not $29.95

  • damnit! so its corrected now? arrrghhh i woulda bought 10 of them haha

  • just went to the one downstairs from here at work

they refused to the catalogue price because they'd "corrected" it by putting a sticker on the real item which was the non-cordless keyboard (which is pictured in the paper catalogue)

still, there could be grounds to say it's one of those misleading ads to draw people into the shop when the items don't really exist!

    • jashjash: unlikely, as they will just say it was a (obvious) printing error, in which case they are quite within right to correct. Plus the item does exist, just at a different price.

      • ah well, I'll have to find another place that sells it cheaper and get them to price match it!

        That'll teach em… :)

  • I just got one 5mins ago :D

The clerk said its a printing error! But I keep saying that the catalogue said its $29.95 how do I know its an error? He keep arguing that its for the keyboard and not the combo and I just stand my ground asking them if they are going to honor the error. Eventually we went to the manager and the manager told him to check if there's any "Apology Notice" on the item. He didn't find any "Apology Notice" so they end up honoring the price on the catalogue :D

    • which store was this LOL~

      • The Fyshwick, ACT store. But I think after I pointed out the error and forcing them to honor it they'll put up an apology notice and hide them away like Skippy's store.

  • Good find, but the store I went to hide them all & put an apology notice on.
End up couldn't get any :(

  • I asked Harvey Norman to price match and they compared the product code & said that it didn't match the description - they picked up that it was a printing error.

So I asked DSE to price match - they were happy to but had no stock left - they even went out the back to see if they could find one.

Then I asked JB HiFi to price match - they said that for that price it must be the keyboard only (as that is all that is in the picture). I pointed out that it for a "desktop" set, which included the mouse & they agreed that that was what was advertised but as it was below cost they refused to price match (so much for a guarantee) - I wasn't going to push it any further than that.

  • Tried my luck at 2 Officeworks.
One had an apology notice up on the shelf, so got nowhere
The other didn't have any apology note. With the manager involved, I could not convince them to honour the ad and sell me the Wireless Desktop 2000 for $29.95, but they compromised to sell me the Wireless Desktop 700 for $19.95. This is pretty close to the $18 from JB which not many people seemed to be able to get.
