Going through similar with go daddy renewal , was $1 per month 1st year now want $72 per year to renew …..so need to make new account , offboard and onboard to get $1 per month again ….. I really hate these entrapment offers ….. Doesn't promote loyalty if you feel you get less for renewal than they offer to new customers. Should be cheaper to renew.

Loyalty to a company is a bad idea

  • I haven't heard much about these guys but normal price is reasonably competitive to competition. I use both Carbonite and Crashplan for my customers which are both quite good and about $70 Aus per year for unlimited data.

Shell out the $60 (or less)/yr for office365, get legit office, some skype minutes, and 1tb of storage. No entrapment, just a good product.

  • Check out their Privacy policy: https://www.idrive.com/privacy

Data Retention: We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you our Services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you Services, you may delete your account through the account settings after logging in to our Service from our website. Your files will automatically be removed from our servers within 10 business days of cancellation. Please note, that there might be latency in deleting backed-up versions of files that may exist after deletion. We may retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Files - We collect and store the files and data you transmit between your Devices and IDrive Inc. infrastructure using our Services.

If anyone going ahead with this service, I would recommend using 3rd party cloud encryption tool and not the one they use by default.

"If we provide your files to a law enforcement agency as set forth above, we will remove encryption from the files before providing them to law enforcement only if a default encryption key is used. We will not be able to decrypt any files that are encrypted using a user defined encryption key."

  • So after 1 yr, they will keep your data for ransom, unless you pay up their regular price?
