    Bought thanka

  • There's apps for that. Free apps. Are these better?

    • Could be totally wrong but your phone mic is designed to receive voices, the tuner is made to pick up vibrations; i.e. most apps probably can't tune in a loud environment.

    • -4

      No. Free is better.

      • Come on guys this is OzBargain not ijustpaid$2forsomethingicandoforfreehahalookatmeimafoolormore…
        likeanimbecileimbecileastupidimicileimbecileBargain

But seems like a good deal…
Does it work with ukulele's or violins's?

        • +1

Includes five modes: C, G, B, V, U (chromatic, guitar, bass, violin, ukulele) to cover the gamut of stringed instruments. It also works great on mandolin, banjo and nearly any other stringed instrument.

You get what you pay for.

Free apps are OK at best. Clip on tuners are better as they are calibrated to the mic that's inside them. Apps can't be universally calibrated to each brand and model of phone so they won't be as accurate.
Excellent value at $2. Got one from last deal and just ordered one from this as well.

      • It depends on the phone you use. I can get great accuracy (checked with more than one tuner) out of a Galaxy S4 and LG G4.

Still $2 for a dedicated tuner that sits in your case is good (so long as accuracy is good). I've paid up to $20…and they use to be much more expensive when I was a kid.

        • That's why I said they're OK at best. Worked great on my xperia. Works terrible on my Samsung s7. I've used a heap of different free tuners on the s7 and none have worked very well at all. They'll say it's in tune but checking against both clip on and pedal based tuners have shown they're off pretty badly.

        • @d1s34s3d:

I have a couple of cheaper phones. I'll have to try it on them. For my "good" phones (Galaxy S4, LG G4) it's spot on. The only reason I would use a clip on or plug in tuner over the phone is in a noisy environment, or one where the phone isn't permitted (maybe hospital or concert venue) or is at risk (I'm thinking beach sand).

Any actual musicians here? Thanks OP, bought one for my wife to use on her mandolin.

    • Mmmm, reverberated mandarins. Those citrusy tones.

    Thanks OP!

Got one last time the deal was posted, great tuner better than my other tuners the JOYO JT-01 and AROMA AT200D.

Thanks OP Got one for son.

I use a phone app, it works well enough. But for $2…I'll do it. :) save some battery life haha.

I just started learning guitar in the last month or so. Would anyone have any suggestions as to things that will help me improve?

    • +3

I still consider myself a learner and am self taught for a year (YouTube) but what I found helpful was to play every day, even for if it's for 10-15min. Also, Justin Guitar has a useful beginners course…other than that I'd just search for tabs on Ultimate Guitar and find songs I like to help practice the basic chords and strumming techniques.

      • haha, I'm in the same boat. I'm using Justin as well :) I practice about 30-180 min a day depending on how things go. Hardest thing for me is barre chords and learning new strumming patterns atm :)

Play as much as you can

Called in sick today, really am sick…but I managed to play for about 5 hours today. Girlfriend sees this becoming a problem.

Thanks! Always handy to have a spare tuner, for $2 it's certainly worth a try.

  • Grabbed it, thanks

  • Nice, now I don't have to use an app on my phone

Clip on tuners are much better for tuning in an environment where there might be more sounds being made than just your instrument

Dam already got 3 tuners…. do i need more?

    Ill pass for now.

    • Yes, so you can do a video review comparing them all for us!

      • I enjoy using my boss tuner. Gets my wild tuning on my ibanez well and has not failed me for easily 15 years.

I have looked at the tuning apps and they are not bad, close but not bad for what they are really.

Years ago there was one that created a tone in notes of eadgbe but i cant find it and they was great sortta mimics a tuning fork…. from memory maybe it was a sample of a set of tuning forks.

  • thanks OP

Cheers, been wanting one for a while. I'm not sure it is one per account. My first attempt told me paypal failed, after my second attempt I see 2x $2 paypal transactions. Xmas gift for a friend I guess.

  • +1

Awesome, bought one for spare guitar, thanks

  • Sold out as I was placing my order.

  • Where does this ship from?
    Anyone?
    Oh OK then.😢

  • Damn. Missed it. Flash sale?

  • +1

If you missed out, just hop on ebay and search for "guitar tuner clip on" and sort by price delivered. Quite a few for under $3 delivered. I've got a few of the Joyo models which are $2.85. Seems fine and will tune guitar + uke etc. A replacement battery would probably cost that much in Australia. :)

    • +1 I have a couple of eBay cheapies too (a Joyo and an Artist Guitars) - they work just fine.

I'm slowly working towards 1 per guitar :)

    • Found a few. Can you provide the ebay link of one that you have used pls. Thanks

  • Damn missed!!

How often does this go on sale?

    • if you can spare an extra 85c see my post above.

      • Thanks.

I checked ebay (saw you post earlier) and similar ones are nearer $10.

This one is "OMG it's got lots of colour WTF .. i'mz 3l33tz!"

        :)

        • Yeah, I would be more concerned with price and functionality. The one I have seems to fit both those requirements even if its less colourful. The joyo 8th Anniversary model does change colour from blue to green when you hit the correct tuning. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331718578231

  • Second time I missed this :(

  • Just received mine. $2 for something shipped from the US

  • +1

Got mine today. Does a great job, absolute bargain for $2.

  • Got mine too! Battery is located separately in box if people are looking for it.
