Young Brute Red Blend Dan Murphy's Members Offer: Buy One and Get a Bonus Bottle for $16.90 = $8.45 a Bottle, 6 Bottles $50.70

50

Best Shiraz / Cabernet Sauvignon Blend at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards
http://www.rasv.com.au/Events/RMWS_Home/

Normal Price $83.70 for 6 but members offer comes down to $50.70 so around 39% off. Buy one get one only seems to work in up to 6 bottle buys. I had to do four orders, have not tried yet but at $8.45 seems like a good deal. Vintage can't be guaranteed with online order so in store buy might be best if you want to guarantee that.

Young Brute Red Blend

A fitting name for this vibrant powerhouse blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia's Wrattonbully region (next to Connawarra). With flavours of ripe dark fruits, the region's trademark mint and crushed leaves, it also has great texture, tannins with layers of coco, black cherry and a hint of oak on the finish. Delicious.

In fact we're so confident that you'll like the wine so much, we thought that you'd probably regret only getting a single bottle, so we've added a bonus bottle for every one purchased.

Member Offer: Buy one and get a bonus bottle for $16.90.

  • Written in red text: Please note: ordering online does not guarantee the 2015 vintage

Typical Dan's, definitely don't expect the 2015 vintage if you order online. Better to check instore.

Yes and written in my post. I picked up first dozen tonight which was 2014 but I think it is superb and will order another 3 dozen tonight.

        No it's not.

        • Try again;

        • @dandandan: Remove the awards link then because you and others have already proven that no-one is getting the 2015 vintage it refers to. Which is typical Dan!

I got 2 of these this week. (2014 vintage)
Worth the $8.50, but certainly not the claimed $17

Big flavours up front, then nothing much after that. The Mcguigans Black label red is a much nicer drop (abet sweeter) at the same price point.

I won't buy it again. But maybe if you're new to drinking reds, it migjt be a good starter as its not offensive as many others under $10 are.

    • I picked up the first dozen tonight and it's definitely worth the $8.45, easily worth the $17 and way better than many reds in the $15-$30 range. I ended up with the 2014 though so hoping the other dozen is the 2015 but I will be ordering more tonight. I highly doubt the Mcguigan Black label is anywhere near as good. The Royal Melbourne wine show judging is prestigious and well regarded and if this wine won a trophy and was in the running for the Jimmy Watson as a result, with all respect I can't put any weight towards your opinion. After cashback and wish gift card it cost me $7.20 a bottle.

      • Thats ok its only my opinion. But if you're paying $15-$30 for worse then this, I wouldn't want to venture into your cellar.

IMHO The best bargain of the year so far was when Dan had Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2 for $16. I see they've got it for $13/bottle now. A hearty well balanced red.

As for the Mcguigans it was just a price comparison with another random red mix.

But hey if you like it & got it for $7.20 kudos to you!!!

and Wine shows are only respected by the current winners. If they were even close to being credible most would have the same winners in the same category.

    • Can definitely find better at VinoMofo, Wine Direct, etc. for roughly the same price (and definitely a better label!).

If you think so, like this last winedirect offer which is rubbish Secret 2014 Cabernet Dozen from an Outstanding Producer

I buy from all sources and with all respect the Royal Melbourne Wine show panel and judges have more credibility than your opinion. You can see who they are here; http://www.rasv.com.au/Events/RMWS_Home/RMWS_Competition-Inf…

        • I definitely think so. Plenty of better choices for $9 per bottle and no delivery right now at VinoMofo if you're willing to buy 12. And with better "awards".

You might want to start by drinking the actual vintage of wine they awarded!

        • Don't take the criticism of the wine personally. We're not having a go at you, just the wine. Its great that you like it & got it at a bargain price, But wine taste is fairly subjective. Different winnings at various wine shows in the same category is proof of that.
