This was about AUD$30 more expensive last night, seems to be a sale on at the moment, unsure of when it will end. I have just placed an order but even without sale (US$249.99) it is still a very good deal for this card being 6GB and Super Clocked version rather than standard. I was considering a local seller on ebay and go the $100 voucher but with this price drop there is no need to lock in another $100 spend unnecessarily. Couldn't really find a decent 6GB version under $400 locally but I was limited to card length for my wife's case.

You will also qualify for a free EVGA powerlink, please refer to link below.

  • Cbf registering but I don't think the Powerlink ships to Australia. No big loss, it's pretty gimmicky.

  • how do these compare to the rx480 cards that are now on sale in ebay and have the $100 voucher ? or the RX470 cards ?

    • The 1060 is better in the majority of games but if you switch to dx12 it gets its ass handed to it by the RX480. Seems to be a running thread with nvidia cards

  • What about the 1050 coming out in a few days?

  • I'm watching this one too. Should i upgrade mine from 960? Tempting!

I was in the same boat when I was using 24" 1080p. Recently I got a 27" 1440, should I upgrade to 1070 now? or wait for the next gen? frustrating…

      • +2

To 1070 from 960 is a big leap in performance, i would upgrade if i were you :D

I don't expect the 11 series would give you such a big leap for another year's wait.

      • From 960 is a massive leap to even 1060. 1060 is comparable to 980 for a lot of games. I didn't bother upgrading from 660ti to 960, but 1060 is leaps and bounds ahead. Even 1060 should be good enough for 1440. 1060 6gb is rated VR ready

Paid $450ish just over a month ago (cheapest local price); was cursing myself at the checkout knowing there'd soon be better deals, but wanted it in time for a new game release.

Very happy with the card though - unlike other mini/cheap 1060s, this one stops its fan at idle, and is pretty quiet under load despite being a small, single-fan card. Fan ramps up and down quite slowly by default which makes it less noticable; isn't so paranoid about temperature. The SC version has a superior cooler to the non-SC, despite them looking virtually identical.

    • Patience is a virtue. Patience can mean saving a whopping $100 or more. I myself am waiting until the upcoming Amazon Black Friday sale coming next month in November.

  • I bought EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Superclocked last Friday from AMAZON US. Total cost about 211 USD incl. delivery. (My estimation is around $277-280).
That's not a bad price since I only want to game on 1080p. It'll last my old PC probably for about 3 more years (4 if I'm pushing it) I guess.

And also, I don't feel it's necessary to spend another $50 USD to get the 6GB VRAM ver.. I can always lower the resolution to game in 720p if necessary.

    • Difference between the 3gb and 6gb version is not just VRAM. It has about 5-10% lower performance for some titles up to 20%, about 5% of its shaders are locked. But for 1080 should be just fine

      • Yup, that's right. The difference can be seen in some titles like mirror's edge catalyst and Hitman. But they're not my favourite games so all good.
I'll save that 50 USD for the future gaming card.
