ASUS DUAL-GTX1070 8G $599 BudgetPC (VIC Free Pick-up or +Delivery)

130

Title says it all. I'm currently shopping for a GPU upgrade and came across this store selling the ASUS DUAL-GTX1070 O8G for $599AUD. Local store pick-up available and I think it's $8.25 shipping for MELB, $14.40 for SYD, $14.75 for BRIS etc.

It's the cheapest I've come across and it's Aussie stock. I believe the store mentioned it's 2yr Warranty, but I'm a noob so feel free to comment below if that's wrong.

Found this useful bench-marking/review video for the similar but OC version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tneld4S7NgU
Found this useful video for ALL 1070s cards explained and recommendation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf__ZGD9SUQ

Also all comments regarding the 1070 experience is welcome, I'm trying to do as much learning as I can about this upgrade. Going from 2x GTX770 4GB SLi setup to a single 1070 and I'm planning to just buy the cheapest one I can find.

EDIT: Confirmed with the store that this card does not come with Gears of War 4 promotion. The cards that do are the ASUS STRIX variants for 1070 and 1080 according to their supplier.

If Umart is more convenient for anyone it is the same price there too.

Cheapest is on Amazon which I believe is still Gigabyte Windforce OC at $531 AUD (before any international transaction fees) - however that is a great price for AU stock and I think cheapest I've seen.

There's many cards under $599 on Amazon though.

My son just slotted one of these into his build and it's a great card - silent, powerful and easily handles his games with ease. Highly recommended.

I'll be your son for a 1070! How bout it, dad?

For a 1070 you will have to be a sexy son

        • For a Titan Pascal I'll be what ever son you want.

    • My setup is quite dusty, but changing the GPU should bring it back to life. Looking forward to it and thanks for commenting about the card.

I find using cleaning products to be more effective in removing dust. But I guess a new GPU is worth a shot.

        • I will take up your recommendation and do both the dusting and slot in that 1070 GPU.

0_0 tempting. I really need a GPU upgrade. This looks decent. Though what's an AMD equivalent?

    • I dont think there is an equivalent of amd

Just picked up one last week from MSY for $625. Runs beautifully, not the quietest but pretty solid. Recommended.

    • That's great to hear! Are you using it for some high-end gaming (high setting - Whitcher 3, GTA V etc.)?
Yeah my setup is in the corner of a room, so I think the heat build up will drive its fans on full speed.

Is it quiet during non-gaming use?

      • Yes its whisper quiet during idle and non-gaming. I dont even notice it.

Ive got a case with bad airflow so I ramp up the fans manually to keep it cool. Then its audible. But to be perfectly fair, its runs at max 75 deg during gaming even with bad airflow.

I was very impressed. The OC boost works a treat too. I cant test the proper boost speeds because im running PCI-E 2.0 ports.

It was a huge purchase for me and took me a long time to decide. But I have no regrets.

        • That's terrific. I'm a novice, so I've never tried a OC GPU before. I'm guessing you just need to use their software and it'll adjust automatically for the boost (or does it do it anyway without the ASUS software).

Yes! I also have a case with bad airflow, because originally I purchased it so it doesn't show any lights (it was in my bedroom). So it'll be interesting to see how this one cools.

          Awesome feedback.

          @Jaysful:

Another good thing about the card is that its only 9.5 inches long so its great to fit in almost every case.

          Best of luck

Got an EVGA SC for ~$552 delivered from Amazon then got a $80 refund for not getting a GOW code. Winning

    • Yeah I'm not sure how the GOW4 offer works. Do all card qualify for that? I actually want a copy of the game, but how does the 'refund' work if you choose not to accept the copy of the game?

      • +1

Amazon got all their keys revoked by Nvidia so they no longer provide it. I was sort of on the cusp around that time of ordering so started an Amazon chat and eventually they gave me a refund to the cost of the game
Amazon no longer provide any GOW codes and I doubt you'd get a refund now

        • Oh wow that's really generous (when they offered refund I mean). Thanks for explaining. I wonder how this works with all other 10 series sold.

      More details please!

  • Also plan to upgrade my pc.
Same upgrade from MSI GTX 770 x 2 (SLi)

Just wondering what can i do with these 2 old cards?

Where is the best place to sell them?

    • I had the same question running through my head, but considering they are 3 generations old I'm guessing they will only get a chance on Gumtree. It's either that or you post it on your Facebook for dirt cheap.

I think I will just keep them just in case something goes wrong with the 1070. I've read threads about 5% bad batch amongst GPUs.

Have had nothing but great service from these guys over the last couple of years. Got great pricing on a custom build back in the day and when the water cooling started to fail after 18 months, they replaced it on the spot. Very helpful at answering questions for novices like myself.

I lived on the other side of town, but was happy to travel and now live 3 hours away and will be travelling to them for my upcoming custom build.
Happy to spend money with people who provide great service and competitive pricing.

Thanks for sharing. I just had a quick phone chat about the availability of the card since the link says 'call for ETA'. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Yeah I live quite far from their location too, but I'm still considering it.

      • +1

What did they say regarding availability?

        • +2

They said that it doesn't show stock on their site because once the customer places the order they will get it from their suppliers. The supplier delivers once every two days. So it's not biggie, it's not 'out of stock' or anything.
