If you have bought into the Ryobi ecosystem this might be of use. Just wish I knew if they will be sticking with 18v for a while (having thrown out perfectly good 9v and 12v drills with dead batteries)

Yep -if you already have Bosch it would be better to stick with that and share the batteries - if you already have Ryobi, probably better to stick with that to share batteries. If you are just dipping your toes in the cordless world, I suspect the accessories won't really be worth the difference between the two, and with better batteries in the Bosch (1.5 vs 1.3), it is probably the better buy, although the Ryobi is a hammer drill.

I made the mistake of buying both Bosch and Ryobi - so it is a rock and a hard place for me.

The Bosch kit has a hammer drill, description doesn't really say it though!

Why is bosch better? There's AEG triple kits for 299. Led torch aside… Worth the extra 100?

They didn't reduce it much. Unfortunately, we are entering a lengthy phase of Bunnings dominating Australia's DIY market.

  • brushless?

this pack also comes with every kind of home improvement accessory you could want.

I'm not going out on a limb to say that is 100% pure unadulterated bullshit.
What possesses people to make such stupid claims?
Where is my paint mixer? 35mm cabinet bit? …

    • Where is my paint mixer?

attach drill to Hole saw bit - whola

and use same bit for cabinet - not as good as the real thing but you asked

      • Whola-taBS? Or did you mean voila?

It wouldn't be an ozbargain tool post without a smattering of 100% pure unadulterated bullshit.

And for the money, I'd look at the ryobi twin drill kit they usually have for $199, it has way better one+ batteries. The one+ batteries in this kit are bottom of the range.

      • Ni-cad are the bottom, these look to be the low-capacity Lithium batteries. They have the same capacity as each other however Lithium 1.3's are half the size of the Ni-cad option.
Source: I have the Ni-cad batteries.
        Ni-cad, Lithium 1.3, Lithium 5.0.

        • Lol i forgot about the one+ nicads, havent used them in nearly a decade. They do a 2.5Ah lithium in the small size too, those are the ones to get for the easy to wield tools like drills.

Where's my 100 piece toolkit of cable ties?

  • how does this compare to the $30 Aldi one? dont shoot me i just want to see what the difference is. Actually aldi one is $30 + $25 charger + $30 battery.

  • Does anyone know if you can use the ryobi skins from the uk with Aussie batteries? The impact driver is cheap on Amazon UK and I've already got the drill and batteries

I've got a couple Ryobi One + skins from the US, bought some tools that weren't available here at the time.
(The 90deg drill wasn't avail here at the time I got mine in 2013) a couple of Ryobi one + skins from their blue range too, also not available here, paint sprayer and tile cutter in kits.
I kept the batteries in these two kits and chucked the 110v chargers with the US plugs. (They may have been 110/240v chargers too, I'm not certain now, but with the US plugs and still having a couple other fast chargers, I didn't hold onto them specifically.)
They all take the ryobi one + batteries, from here and mybkocal tools take the US batteries. I did note though, the batteries in the US kits were the older style, non fuel gauge style batteries of an older size capacity too, so maybe look at that of required.

I'd be certain the ones sourced from UK will be good too. If you can get them cheaper than here, the skins will be fine.

      • Awesome, thanks!
