    Thanks OP!

You can get a maximum bonus of 35% with ANZ Rewards!

    • +1

How do you get 35% bonus with ANZ?

    • +1

Have to use auto-redemption, but this is a pretty good bonus!

    • +1

Woohoo! Time to top up my velocity from ANZ

      • Making it rain…points!

    • Edit: problem solved

  • +3

    Partispanting. 😌

    • +2

This deal is the first google hit for this fantastic word.

  • For those of you guys with Citibank Signature, you need to transfer a minimum of 20,000 citibank points

    • +2

Should I transfer my points? Ive got 271k points sitting in my account

      • Depends, do you plan on using Velocity points in the next 6 months or so?

        • nope

        • +1

Why 6 months? I thought Velocity had a 3 year expiry?

*Looking to go 'all in' with ANZ Rewards, Citi Sig and Amex….

      • depends… what scheme are your points with?

        • I have 220k qff points right now.

I havent been on holidays for 12 months or so, even when I do I go on sale tickets hmmmmmmmmmmm

          what to do..

        • @Turd: It really depends on what scheme you're holding the points in, what conversion rate you get and what your holiday / trip goals are in the next year.

EDIT: looks like your points are with Citibank.

        • @The Champagne Mile: ya 271k citibank, and 220k qff..

hmmmm I dont really know LOL..

thinking of cashing them in for VISA cards or coles cards lol

        • @Turd: Looks like you can transfer out to Velocity, Asia Miles and Krisflyer at a rate of 2:1. Asia Miles is probably the best value of the three (even when you take into consideration the current velocity bonus) - you can use AsiaMiles for cheap redemptions on QF flights amongst others (both the taxes and points will be cheaper than redeeming same flights on QF). Of course, if you don't actually want to travel, I guess giftcards are an option.

        • @The Champagne Mile:

…and as last weeks post, Singapore Air via Velocity is better than redeeming direct with Singa Air!

        • +1

          @Turd:
I know the OZbargain forum is for saving money. But the best value of the points is to travel royally - upgrade to a higher class. May be do it once in a life time.

        • @tunzafun001: Not if you want to redeem for first class / suites class - SQ don't release that award space to their airline partners - you have to book direct.

        • @The Champagne Mile: Cheers for the info. But I think if I got a first class suite I'd never fly again! Business class to Scotland is the goal.

  • I need a new airline. I haven't been flying as often on Emirates to maintain my Emirates Skywards Gold membership, because I asked work to reduce my travels/year.

    Is Virgin any good?

    • You can earn Velocity credits when shopping.

      • I'm trying to decide between Commbank rewards, Citibank or NAB's velocity program

        • I like the Velocity Amex.
Free return flight a year. I just used mine on a flight that would have cost $600 otherwise.
So the card paid for itself (annual fee $349).
You also get 2 lounge passes, and 2 passes to Amex lounge.
Plus with a referral bonus you get 80,000 FF points.

        • If you want to maximise velocity points your best bet is a Virgin Money Visa (0.66 points per $1) and the Amex Platinum Edge (1-3 points per $1 + 25% transfer bonus). The Virgin card includes a $129 Virgin voucher and the Amex a free return flight each year (to selected cities). Gotta talk your way out of the Annual fee for both each year but I haven't had any issues with that so far.

        • @get-innocuous: I get 1 point per $1 with my Virgin Money Visa

          And $129 voucher.

Are they moveable on the Amex fee? I haven't tried. But haven't paid yearly fee for the Virgin Visa yet.

        • @get-innocuous:

" Gotta talk your way out of the Annual fee for both each year but I haven't had any issues with that so far."

Any tips? I'm considering changing from ANZ QFF Visa to Virgin money after many many years… think they'd waive it to capture my business?

        • @sheikyerbouti: I've never actually tried it for a new sign up, I get on it on a "no fee for the first year" promo and then just talk to their retentions team when your year is almost up and they always waive it for me.

        • Check out the ANZ travel reward card. It should still give you bonus velocity points plus no overseas purchase fees. Also including free virgin domestic flight each year.

        • @Tiggrrrrr: how does the referral bonus work? Is it for the referrer or the referee? I have an AMEX Platinum Edge but thinking about signing up my wife for AMEX velocity platinum but not sure how to best do it. I think there is 50,000 Velocity points on offer too which makes it sweeter.

        • +1

          @pingre:

For both parties. Referrer gets around 20k points I believe, and referee gets higher signup bonus. Amex Velocity platinum gets 80k points rather than 50k when using a referral link.

        • @lilkid28: I've checked with AMEX. They said that it's not possible to refer someone a card that you don't already have. Annyone knows any work around that?

        • @pingre: Bit confused, I and others here have Velocity Amex cards, so we can provide you a referral code.

        • @get-innocuous: How do you get a 25% transfer bonus with the Plat Edge?

        • @pingre: I have Velocity Amex and DJ Amex, so I can refer you those only. If one has Plat Edge only, then he can refer you the Plat Edge only.

  • +1

Most of the transfer rates are: 2 Points = 1 Velocity Point

  • +4

Heads up, Velocity usually do this every May and November. So if you feel like waiting it'll be roughly 6 months until this promo runs again.

    • Thanks! I just transferred my AMEX points last month to book a June Melbourne flight so now I know to wait until November next time I want to go to Melbourne during Winter before transferring all my points!

    • Not all banks participate each time though - for example, CBA haven't participated in the May promotion for at least the last couple of years, only the November one.

  • +1

This is good deal for ANZ members. More value transfer from ANZ rewards to VFF, then convert to SQ miles.

  • I just transferred my CBA points last month… :( missed out on an extra 1000 points.

  • Any Amex holders know if this is good value to transfer to VFF or hang onto the Amex points?

    • Depends what you plan to use them for? But generally speaking, converting AMEX MR points to Asia Miles, Krisflyer and SPG offers better value.

    • It ends up being a 1:1 ratio which doesn't seem amazing. I'm wondering myself. I'd probably otherwise use them to get cashback at woolworths….

  • Guys I must be missing something, I am one who redeem gift cards with points. I pay around 22250 anz rewards point for $100 wish or Westfield red cards, I also used arund 18700 velocity for the same gift card. At a rate of 2 and to 1 velocity point, I would be worse off even with the 35% max discount?

    • +1

For this purpose you would be worse off, that's correct.

    • Was wondering the same thing myself. There must be other things to redeem for. I tried to search for flights before, dont think its really cheaper to pay by points compared to money/giftcard value.

      • Upgrading with points (from a paid fare) is usually much better value than purchasing the entire airfare with points.

      • +2

In short, it's all about upgrading to business/ First and maybe premium economy class (YOLO) at cost of a few hundred dollars (taxes) + the equivalent points of a few hundred dollars of giftcards, vs paying thousands for business class etc tickets outright. If you are happy with economy flights, get the cheapest flight you can and grab a giftcard.

  • Not a deal for CBA bank users

    • How come?

      • Commonwealth Bank offers $100 gift card(we could always use it for groceries) with 20000 CBA awards points. Velocity costs 17000points to get the same gift card. The ratio is like 2:1.7, but you know that 2.5 CBA points can only redeem 1 point velocity point in this dodgy transfer. Even with 15% bonus it means you will still lose about half of your CBA points. Not a deal at all.

        • Damn.. I wish I read this earlier, haha. There's a bit of value for me since the reward flights I redeem it for give me better times which equates to money I'd pay. Thanks anyway mate.

        • @badtzmaru56: No prob.

  • i currently have the westpac altitude amex cards but feel like they're terrible value. are these virgin points worth transferring to?

  • Sounds good on paper.

I've got 200K in Citibank, 85k in Virgin, 45k in Amex.

Wondering if I should consolidate all points.

    • What would you like tk use your points for. It would be good to consolidate them all into Virgin if you plan on flying with virgin..

      • I normally fly with SQ, Virgin, Garuda and budget Airlines.

I've got some Qantas points but I don't fly with them.. not sure what to do with the miles.

  • Transferred points two days ago…

Anyone experience some goodwill after a call to Virgin?

  • +1

Unless I am mistaken, Westpac is the only partner offer where you cannot transfer points and get the 15% bonus every time there is a promotion (although you could do so in the past). The only option is to enrol in auto-redemption which means you get the 15% bonus now, and never again. Is this correct?

    • It does seem that the Westpac version of this is you can 'turn on' auto-redemeption and get 15% extra points during Nov only, which is pretty misleading. I have previous points I want to transfer and get 15% on.

      • I think so too, looks like all other providers do not get the bonus points.

        Anyone tried?

EDIT: Ok reading the T&Cs it is ok..

        The westpac thing is separate.

        • A hot tip for WBC customers, they are about to devalue the transfer rate to KrisFlyer and Asia miles in a few days (9/11). Transfer today if you plan to use these airlines. They Altitude points drop 25% in value in respect the KF/AM.

  • Hey guys - does anyone know of a good rewards points search engine for flights?

I have a stack of Westpac Altitude rewards and what to see where I can go in Premium Economy / Business.

The only way I know is to individually have an account with Enrich, Kris Flyer, Velocity, etc etc and search them all manually. The in-built Westpac rewards flight search engine is TERRIBLE.

  • Looking to use points for a flight reward / and or upgrade.

I've just transferred 85000 pts from ANZ Rewards to Velocity for the 35% bonus, and looking to close it once cleared.

Should I do the same for my Citibank Signature to pool them together, about the same number (but only 15% bonus)? Assuming there is no extra value given by Citibank vs Velocity?

Ie. I wont be losing anything by transferring to Velocity given that Citibank has very few linked carriers anyway?

    Cheers all

    • Check how many points you need for your trip and then transfer accordingly.

      • No trip in particular planned. But looking at the redemption options/ value for Citi Signature and Velocity, I don't think I will lose anything buy using the 15% offer (as for example, I believe Singapore Airlines give a better return if I use Velocity as an intermediate step). Unless Singapore bring out a better than 15% offer, I don't think I will lose?

        • Yes, thats right. There hasn't been any bonus transfer offer from Singapore in the recent past.

        • @Holysmoke: Cheers mate.

  • Just got an email saying that Amex have extended this until 7 december and at a rate of 30% bonus. can confirm that I got 30% bonus. sorry am away and too hard to post as deal on iphone

    • I got an extension til 10 dec but with same 15% bonus. I guess it depends on the individual. I transferred about 12000 flybuy points
