    Doesn't that deal exclude Apple products?

    • +2

      they cannot really tell , exactly like gift cards. Just shows up as a charge from Harvey Norman.

      • +27

        Excludes purchases of Miele, Falcon, NEFF, AEG, Gaggenau, ASKO, St George, Fagor, De Detrich, Elica & Apple products.

        I think at least you should disclose in your post (not just in the threads) that technically its not permitted, but past experience by some have meant its allowed.

        That being its NOT guarranteed.

        BTW as a true ozbargainer I'd like to spend my once only $100 on something that is already on special, thereby increasing my savings. Unless there was nothing else to spend it on

        • -1

          They have no way of tracking apple purchases

          Exactly like gift cards which are always excluded, but always work with AMEX statement credit @ HN, DJ, Woolworths, Dan Murphy and Myers

        • +12

          @easternculture: You have said that already, however the terms do say that its not permitted.

          Ozbargain is littered with deals that are not always what the companies intended. Like price errors, double discounts etc.

          Indicating these potential gotchas enables those who dont always read past the original post at least give them the information to make a decison they are comfortable with.

          To indicate this risk this I have voted negative, which I am happy to remove if this is highlighted in the posting. Cheers

        • Is it a once only $100? That HN AMEX deal was worded similarly like the other ones where it's $100 every time $300 is spent.

        • -6

          @RockyRaccoon: It is also illegal to download movies and such too. Like stealing a car. As the government says.

        • @micnguyen: Once only

          @Turd: Your point is?

        • +2

          As a true ozbargainers you'd have supplementary cards issued to all your family members to make sure the rebate is never issued "once only" :P

        • @easternculture:
          Please post back when you ordered one and get a cashback. Thanks

        • +1

          @mhc:

          ordered one, got the cash back, but I bought when the deal was on my AMEX page and not listed here

        • @RockyRaccoon: Neg vote removed as Mod has updated the post to reflect my concerns above

        • @Turd:
          I'd download a car even if it was illegal, I'd do it.

        • @bauser99: can supplementary cards register for amex offers and received credit separately from the primary holder?

        • +1

          @garbagetnt: Yes of course - provided you register them all individually. Note they need to have unique card nos. Cards issued by AMEX and some of the bank (e.g. NAB) have unique card nos so they can be registered individually.

    • I purchased an iphone the last time the promo was around with three different Amex cards in the past. Had no issues and received the Amex notifcation straight away.

      • 3x $300 purchases and 3x $100 rebates? that's nuts…

        • the last one was probably $50 rebates. I did the same with an airconditioner.

  • +8

    But it's $298 @ Big W…

    • -1

      and Big W has an AMEX $100 cashback ?

      • +31

        Does everyone need to be pointed towards normal priced stuff @ Harvey Norman if they hold an Amex?

        • +12

          yes, because this is ozbargain and we love bargains

        • +17

          @easternculture:

          But the Apple TV isn't a bargain! It's not even on special

          SB vs EC

          awh shiieee

        • +12
        • +2

          @Spackbace: That's true, but the same thing happens with the ebay deals all the time. The item itself may not be on special, but after the discount it's the cheapest price overall. Same sort of thing here in this deal.

        • +8

          @unity1:

          Ebay discounts are open to all.

          The Amex cashback amount is separate, hence why the $299 price is first.

          The cashback is a bargain (for Amex holders), the Apple TV is not.

        • +1
        • +2

          @Spackbace: Targeted deals are now allowed so I suppose there is nothing wrong with deals like this being posted.

        • @jv: hahahahahaha just saw this. good one jv

        • normal priced stuff

          I'm seeing a pattern here

        • +1

          But the Apple TV isn't a bargain! It's not even on special

          ^This. If you want 1080p capabilities just get an Nexus Player. If you are already locked down by Apple then you would have got this from eBay.

    • +6

      But it's $298 @ Big W…

      Agreed

      This is just a dupe of $100 Amex credit, not a bargain…

      • +2

        JV & SP vs EC.

        Where are the other old timers at? TA pls

        • +6

          JV & SP vs EC.

          I don't take sides.

          I'm commenting about the deal…

          *grabs popcorn *

  • +10

    Not even on special, Amex deal is available store wide at HN

      • +24

        Might as well list every combination of $300 items as separate 'deals' then…

        • +4

          if they are good deals and cheapest ever, why not.

        • +8

          @easternculture:

          Spackbace linked that it's cheaper at Big W though, so this isn't really a bargain…

        • -1

          @jv:

          ok jv .. you are right and we are wrong

        • +12

        • +1

          This is the very first time that even though jv's still an (profanity), jv has an actual point. It's not even an actual bargain really listed by Spackbace above somewhere

        • @MountFranklin:

          Hey Mt, why is your profile picture a condom ?

        • +2

          @Kangal:
          because i like to mount things

    • dupe of amex deal essentially

  • +2

    Don't have AMEX or want Apple TV. Somebody might, cheers OP.

    • +2

      You can try to get AMEX Discovery. $0 fee for life and income minimum $35,000.

  • +4

    I don't understand the negs, how is this not a deal?
    We + the Shop Small stuff all the time but for some reason this post deserves a neg? jesus

    • haters gotta hate

      • +3

        nothing to do with hate… they are just voting it is cheaper elsewhere…

        • everyone has a right to vote .. its a free country

        • +9

          @easternculture:

          its a free country

          unless you arrive by boat…

        • -4

          @jv: and what does that even mean?

        • +1

          @0031nek:
          '
          That you'll never be settled in Australia and be treated like a piece of unwanted meat.

        • We came here by boat and the govt actually paid for our tickets ……was quite a few years ago now.

        • @0031nek:
          Well technically everyone came here by boat (boat/womboat/skyboat).
          Fancy people call it pregnancy and aeroplanes.

          There's even surmounting evidence showing the Aboriginals did not come to Australia via an Ice-Age land bridge.
          In fact, early "humans" did have boats.

          So yeah… its not a free country for anyone : \

        • @Kangal: well, but what's with the neg on my question.. puzzling..

        • @0031nek:
          You questioned jv…. never question jv

        • @garage sale: convicts eh?

    • +1

      I don't understand the negs, how is this not a deal?

      It's cheaper elsewhere..

      • +2

        $200 < $298

        • +4

          $200 < $298

          It's $299

          You can get your $100 credit on any $300 item, preferably one that is a bargain so you can save even more

        • @jv: Using your logic, this deal should be negged to hell: www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273342

        • +3

          @justcallmeboss:

          this deal should be negged to hell

          That's the original post…

          This one is just a dupe of that and is not listing anything that is a bargain. That's why it has been negged.

        • +1

          @jv:

          Wrong JV.

          This is the original post www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273327

        • -4

          @justcallmeboss:

          This is the original post

          Whatever… Only items that are not cheaper elsewhere should be posted…

          The $100 credit is a separate deal, already posted…

      • +3

        jv feel free to buy it from Big W for full price :)

        • +10

          Total works out cheaper if you get your $100 credit on something that is a real bargain

          Of course, if you want to waste your $100 credit by overpaying on a particular item, got right ahead…

    • how is this not a deal?

      Because it's cheaper elsewhere….

      • -2

        Where is it cheaper than $200? Please enlighten us with this sub $200 deal you speak of

  • +7

    Popcorn anyone? 🤔

    • half way through it

    • are you shouting ?

    • Any discounts on popcorn?

      • Microwave popcorn was $1 last week at woollies

    • +2

      Lol, yes please, the battle of the ozb super egos.

    • More entertaining to watch two adults 'fight', rather than a child and an adult.

  • +15

    lets all post up every item over $300 as a deal on ozbargain as they get $100 from amex…..
    this is dumb

      • +3

        exactly…

        They should not be posting unless the item in the deal is by itself, a bargain

        The $100 off is a bonus for those who haven't already used it… Not that different from the 5% officeworks price beat…

        • +4

          i actually don't get why ozbargain allows getting spammed whenever there is a ebay 20% off or something like a amex cashback.
          it should all be listed in the main listing of the deal not 2nd one.

        • +2

          jv, what you are saying makes absolutely no sense.

          Cashback is effectively the same as a number of dollars off the original price.

          If ebay had a $20 off $100 spend and put a limit of 3 transactions people would put up any deal (whether the original price was cheapest anywhere or not) because with the discount it is the cheapest.

          People can still obviously choose how they use their 3 transactions but the deals are completely valid.

          How is this any different?

          And if you are going to say this is a targeted deal last time I checked that was ok.

        • @Bramey:
          I do think this should come under a targeted deal though

        • +1

          @Bramey: The difference is the eBay deals are available to everyone (not targeted), whereas this deal is effectively targeted (to AMEX holders).

          I agree that each of these individual items that come under this HN AMEX deal should only be posted if they are deals (the cheapest) without the cashback considered. The cashback itself is merely a bonus. Anything else that is cheaper after factoring in the credit can be (should be?) posted as a comment on the cashback deal itself. In addition, if it is actually cheaper elsewhere, try and get HN to price match so you can get an even greater saving. The only problem with that is you can't post that as a deal either because price matches don't count.

  • +5

    This is best deal for AMEX holder and who like to buy anyway. I consider this a deal. Upvote from me.

  • +1

    Good deal for Amex holders but isn't apple products excluded from the HN casback deal?
    "Excludes purchases of Miele, Falcon, NEFF, AEG, Gaggenau, ASKO, St George, Fagor, De Detrich, Elica & Apple products."

    • +2

      From the past, Amex T&C's doesn't mean much. Still, I'm not willing to take the risk though. Don't think this deal should be up as it's not 100% guaranteed

    • but isn't apple products excluded from the HN casback deal?

      How would they know?

  • +1

    Thanks EC

    I don't want an apple TV but thank you for offering up a decent way to use my HN amex credit

    Some of us don't mind scrolling through ozbargain. Much quicker than scrolling through the HN website.

    Even better to read the tears of the "it's not a deal/internet is life" people

  • +10

    OzPostNormalPrices.com

    Pretty cool site.

    • its the sister site to ozrrp.com.au
      apple always seems to be a popular bargain on these sites

  • +11

    I'm upvoting cause it's the great way to take advantage of a good promotion, if you have Amex and in market for Apple TV. Some people would. Not me, but someone else might.

  • +3

    This device is retarded why does it even need storage? It is all streaming now it's why Amazon tv and chromecast are the best options for your TV not an apple tv
