      You said wok mate?

  • comes up as $57 for me….

    • Ahh…. doesn't take anything off shipping…

    • Comes to $44 + delivery using CHEER20 code.

      • yep delivery depends on location apparently…… was $13 for me…

  • Anyone got some feedback on the wok? Could do with a decent one

    • This is a square bottom, good for hot plates. Not so good on a turbo burner. Cant get the perfect distribution of heat for iron chef perfection.

I'm sorry, I will admit that I haven't shopped for a wok in a really long time, but $44 sounds insane for a carbon steel wok.

Is Ken Hom some sort of fancy brand or something? Carbon steel woks should really be only in $8-10 price range… Even if you go for the thick heavy stuff which feels nice, but also has caveats of it's own, I really don't think it should cost that much.

I think my last wok was a $7 affair that was plain AWESOME as a wok, just like all the other woks I've had the pleasure of using over the years. Quick and even heating, completely non stick. If I was still using gas burners I'd still be using it.

There is no fancy manufacturing tech in a carbon steel wok… it is simply stamped or hammered steel with handles. All of my wok failures in the past were just handle failures and they could EASILY reattach the handle good as new.

If this Ken Hom stuff is some sort of magical wok, please kindly educate me.

I agree with this, look at the markets or Asian grocer, they are usually much cheaper than this. Being carbon steel means that you also need to season it or it will rust.

      • You need to season it to make it non stick, you need to wipe dry and wipe it with olive oil to keep it from rusting!

      • Yep, @Helenn & @derfel - all of mine were seasoned beautifully! Hence why clean up was a breeze.

    • Agree. No need to pay $44 for no benefit.

If someone really absolutely wants something that's "branded", the cast iron Ikea Wok is only $30 everyday AND it comes with a lid!
