Waiting for reports of V20 looping before considering getting one of these…

Yep, you'd definitely be wanting local warranty if that does prove to be an issue

      • Had local warranty through JB Hi Fi and was still a total nightmare. They cancelled my damn contract and made a mess, after 5 weeks of waiting for the phone to be fixed and no ETA available. You can't uncancel a contract and they didn't have my signature so ended up offering me a better contract without lockin and gave me an unlocked phone. But it wasn't worth the ridiculous number of visits and phone calls and 6 weeks in total without a phone!

Local warranty is not pain free either.

Got mine from JB on Friday, amazing phone so far but yes concerned with bootloops hence getting the local warranty.

    • It's not necessarily going to happen with every release after though I reckon. I don't know if they determined the cause, but I reckon it could've been poor implementation of their LG modifications to base Android, in which case it could've been isolated to that release of Android, and it might be fine with Nougat?

Anyone know more about this? Also, I haven't been able to find anything in the way of official statements online, but has anyone got more info on what's going on with the spontaneously cracking camera glass? Are they going to fix it? Is this a one in a million type issue?

      • +1

AFAIK the bootloops were hardware related - because of the poor quality of their solder resulting is parts getting loose/moving causing system failure. Hopefully they've addressed that now..

      • +1

the bootloops are confirmed to be a hardware issue, at least with the LG G4. The only way to fix the G4 was to ship it back to lg.

Major pain in the butt for all involved. Lots of ozbargainers here had bootlooping devices and thankfully, Kogan offered replacements and store credit for their customers, but for those who ordered elsewhere or for those who had their 12 months warranty expire, they might be holding onto a very expensive paperweight.

Not a reputable store, horrible rep on both ozbargain and whirlpool

Still cheaper than other sellers. Others are selling just over $800. Disappointed that the seller jacks up the price.

  • Some reviews of the V20:

After reading up and checking these reviews I've ordered one. Half the price of the top iPhone 7 Plus.

Oh and the 10% off code here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273648 works on this case:

    • Going by drop tests I've seen, you don't need a case.

  • IS this deal the cheapest 6p deal atm? Any similar deals with local stock / warranty?

  • Be aware the v20 has an issue with the camera glass cracking very easily.

  • Anyone knows if this comes with free B&O earphones which US customers appear to be getting?

  • Anyone had theirs shipped yet?
