Amnet Broadband - New ADSL 2+ ‘Enabled’ plans with increased monthly download quotas! [WA Only]

140

Haha since Iinet did their own 'bargain column' on increasing bandwidth quota, maybe I can do it to my beloved Amnet ISP too? Plus it is indeed a bargain!!

Just got this exciting news for both existing members and new members of Amnet.
They just announced their new increase quota for all their Enable 2+ program.

Cost - Peak/Off Peak
$29 - 5GB/7GB
$39 - 15GB/30GB
$49 - 45GB/65GB
$59 - 55GB/75GB
$69 - 60GB/90GB
$89 - 80GB/140GB

Addition: Amnet is also with the local peering service. So if you know where to join up, then your bandwidth is 'halved' of normal downloads.

For the existing customers just go into your "My Account" page and choose upgrade.

  • HooAh Amnet! Was waiting for them to change because EVERY other ISP did changes almost quaterly!

  • This is a second change this year. I have just upgraded my plan this morning. Amnet rules!
Well… at least they provide me with broadband whereas the big two companies don't even want to do due to old phone lines.

  • From their "about us on their site >> "Amnet - Internet Provider in Perth, WA"
Is this ISP strictly Perth only??
If it is it might be worthwhile making that clear in the "bargain" title.

    • better yet - just stick existing customers in the title like the other deal.

      • This deal is open to ALL not juts existing customers!
So I guess in a way it is much better than the Iinet deal =)

    • OMG, well spotted. Sorry about that. Fixed =)

  • I just "downgraded" (according to Amnet) from my old $69/40GB plan to the $49/110GB plan. Saved $20/month and increased download allowance! Was up and running on the new plan in about an hour.Great service from Amnet!

  • Yeah, I gained an extra 10gb on-peak :D

BTW, the OP's words about peering are a bit confusing. You get an additional allowance for waix peering data ontop of your normal allowance. The peering allowance is twice your normal. So 80/140gb plan for on/offpeak includes an extra 160/280gb of WAIX peering data. A lot of things come across waix. Microsoft updates, some itunes downloads, there is now a WAIX Steam Content Server and a SourceForge mirror. Many google services peer through waix as well including most youtube videos.

Its not hard to find a waix source for freely available mirror'd stuff, and with most youtube content/itunes coming out of your waix allowance, it add heaps of value you your actual available quota.

Plus: $100 rebate (towards modem/additional months I believe)

    • With respect to WAIX downloads, Apple trailers are considered unmetered (www.apple.com/trailers), and there are, as MetalPhreak said, many mirrors that offer local content.

http://waix.bur.st/ is a comprehensive list of local mirrored content, and should prove very helpful if you're signed up with Amnet.

Called up and asked how long it should take to transfer- the guy said it would normally a few hours if you are already on the network, but because they had just released new plans, it might take a bit longer because of the overflow- probably about a one day wait.

Very excited, because I'm upgrading from a very old plan (ADSL1 15GB) to a new ADSL2+ enabled plan; 45GB/65GB! :)

      • I've just signed up, but I found out that my current ISP is not on the fast churn list…
Ah well, hopefully I can get it all sorted out by the end of the month with little downtime :P

  • "downgraded" from 10GB no peak/offpeak for $50 to 15GB/35GB for $39 plus $20 downgrade fee

  • Everyone downgraded?

    • I downgraded the first time they have the offer beginning of the year. Changed to the new plan today just to take advantage of the download limit.

      • Yeah ditto!
The first time round. I downgraded just to save $10/month but now I am gonna enjoy the allowable bandwidth :)

  • They don't have any ADSL2 ports left at my exchange and it will be months away before they get new ones :(

Best they can offer me is 1512 ADSL1 with the same $100 credit on a two year plan with the ability to upgrade to ADSL2 if I get to the top of the waiting list and a port is available.

    • Which exchange are you on?

      • Bateman

  • With WAIX, say I am on the 5/7 plan, and I have used up my 10GB of peak WAIX allowance, do I then get shaped if I download more through WAIX during peak hours? Or does it then just come out of the 5 non WAIX allowance?
