$599 for the Gear S3? Ridiculous!

Fortunately Samsung probably know it themselves and are offering a 20% discount for S7 and S7 Edge owners.

Just run the mySamsung app on your phone and once your phone is registered, tap the menu button and tap Rewards. You'll be sent to a screen where you can access the deal and generate a code that you can use on the website.

If you pre-order now (ships on the 17th), you can also get a red watch band for an extra $8.29.
UPDATE: I emailed Samsung and they said the bonus silicon band will be provided even if you did not add it to your order.

    I have S2. The band breaks off too easily if you knock it into something. I switched to the spare band, and that broke too only days later. So now I can't wear it unless I buy a new band.

      I didn't bother getting the "free" $8.29 strap as I don't think I'd ever use it. Without the strap, the total is $479.21 with $43.56 GST.

      With the strap, it should be $487.50 with $44.32 GST.

    • With AMEX cash backs (statement credit) you usually receive a confirmation email soon after the eligible purchase, the actual credit generally appears after a few days.

      On the surface, HN/AMEX cashback is a better deal, but with Christmas around the corner chances are there may be other things you want from HN. So it may be better to use the Samsung code for the watch if you have an eligible phone/code.

  • Anyone heard any inside knowledge about when Samsung Pay will arrive on the Gear S2 in Australia? Or the Spotify app? The Gear S2 is supposed to get a software update to get the same new software as on the Gear S3.

    Just got back from Harvey Norman.
    Pre-ordered the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Black (with bonus red watch band) for $567.
    Paid $300 deposit with one AMEX card to claim $100 AMEX Cashback.
    Will pay another $300 upon pickup of the watch (including a random but hopefully necessary $33 item) with a second AMEX card to claim another $100 AMEX Cashback.
    Bringing the total cost of the watch down to $367. =)

    I just got an email to inform me that Samsung have refunded me $8.30 AUS. I can only assume this was because of the misleading 20% methodology.
    "Samsung Electronics Australia Pty Ltd has just sent you a partial refund of $8.30 AUD for your purchase."

      I am not sure whether it's Startrack or Samsung. If you've gone through Samsung page, instead of clicking the link, copy the link by right clicking to get the reference number and enter that reference number on the Startrack website.

      It's kinda weird, since sometimes I didn't need to do that, sometimes I had to, to actually get to the tracking.

      • Had the same problem so I called Samsung to get the number, put it into the Startrack website and comes up as invalid.
        Hoping to arrives today…

        EDIT: the person at Samsung gave me the incorrect number… then the reference number they give you or you copy from the "track delivery" link is not the actual tracking number. Had to put this into the "reference number" field in the Startrack website in case anyone else had any issues.

        • I tried my number both as tracking and reference numbers, but still shows "There were no tracking numbers found that match the number you have entered".

          Seriously, Samsung/Startrack should have their shyte together.

Called Samsung and they said it's due for delivery today (and just received a text stating this) however Startrack seem to think it hasn't left Sydney yet….so feeling doubtful will receive in Melbourne today. Very frustrating

          @haydo: Yeh was pumped when I saw the message saying "ETA 18/11" but then seeing it just scanned in Sydney at 11:34 was extremely disappointing. From what I have read in other forums, Samsung were late to lodge a few batches of deliveries.

          Same thing happened when I pre-ordered the S7 Edge, Vodafone stuffed up the lodgement and ended up getting it 3 days after release date.

          Doubt I will ever pre-order with "delivery" ever again for Samsung products.

          The whole Samsung store experience has been amateur hour. Very surprised at how hopeless the whole experience has been - from tracking order on the website (doesn't work on mobile), the 20% off not being correctly applied, different pricing between Frontier and classic by a few dollars and them sending out startrack urls that don't work (had to get the reference number from the URL and manually type in) and now the delivery delay. What a joke!

        • It's all good, now that I have received the Samsung sms. Although the sms says the delivery will reach me BY 22/11, when I click on the link, it says ETA 23/11.

          Might be lucky to receive it by the end of next week… I hope…

        • @Tgb: I have received mine today (though, they are sending the red watch strap seperately which is rather annoying). I've been checking the page, and they have sent mine out at 7pm on Thursday. I assume that they've started sending the watch out fairly late and they couldn't send all out (and that's my theory).

          Yep, Samsung is completely incompetent with its customer service. People who pre-order their products are likely to be those who are willing to pay extra for their products, giving them shit experience like this is beyond stupid as far as I can see.

          I just returned from HN to check them both out in the flesh - the Frontier is a little too big and I prefer the 'smarter' look of the Classic.

        • @tight-ass: My gf (who paid for it) thought Frontier one would not suit me that much and I should go for classic. It was kinda ironic because Classic model is targeted at an older audience and both my dad and I were thinking Frontier looked better.

          That said, I don't think the photos are doing Classic justice, I am genuinely satisfied with Classic and how it looks.

          My gf has Gear S2 (Sports) and it improved upon the hardware and polished softwares. I guess the only peeve I have with the product itself is the fact that they don't supply the watch faces that they've given to S2 (you still can get them on store, but they are not customisable). That said, watch faces that do come with S3 is more complex so, I guess I shouldn't complain that much. Size probably would be too big for many people, but I think it's fine on me (thickness probably would be an issue with suits, but haven't check it yet).

        • @eug: have you paired it with a Samsung phone? if not, do you have Samsung Pay app on your watch or in Samsung Gear app on your phone?

        • @dasher22: I just tried installing it on my S7. From the watch I pressed and held the top-right button which started up Samsung Pay, scrolled to the end, and tapped Install. I accepted the prompt on my phone and it was installed.

          However, only AMEX and Citibank credit cards are accepted at the moment. My ANZ Amex didn't work. Pity!

        • @eug: Thanks for the confirmation. I have paired my watch with HTC and cannot find SPay app. Looks like it is still available only when the watch is paired with a Samsung phone. Even though, GS3 has been marketed to have SPay when paired with any Android 4.4+ phone. Here's to hoping that Samsung rolls out an update to fix this.

  • If you haven't added the band to your order (like I did), Samsung have said that they will send it seperately to the watch and it may take 2~3 weeks.
    I was on the phone call because of that.

    • I was sure I added it my order / it was included when I purchased but upon receiving my watch today it wasn't included. Went back and checked my invoice, nope. Must have derped.

      Did you just call the Samsung on their 1300 #?

        Yeah, I called them and had a chat. Not sure about your case, but in my case (I didn't add the band in the order), they said they are including it for everyone who've purchased Gear S3, it's just that they will ship it seperately.

      • @Tricky83 I think that only works when the watch is paired with a Samsung phone :( I have HTC phone. SPay app isn't even available in Samsung Gear app for installation.
