  • I recently signed up for Foxtel Play to watch The Bullets on the Xbox One (the Xbox App is garbage and stutters, but this is off topic).

I've honestly been shocked by how little content there is to watch.

  • will they also set up for telstra cable if it is supported ? means saving 200-$250???

    • Yes but you will then need to setup your modem/router (gateway in Telstra speak) wherever your Foxtel happens to be installed. Telstra provide a splitter in the box when they send you their gateway in order to connect it all up to the one point.

      Thinking a similar thing.

I have Telstra home internet and all that setup, at 90 a month, but for 100 a month I can double my internet and get the Foxtel basics pack… but I have to pay setup fees, that's the only thing stopping me.

… but, if I could get it set up for free using this method, then switch to the 100 a month deal, that could save me quite a bit.

If you, or anyone else, get an answer, please do reply to this, cheers!

  • +1

Three months free was even better

    • 2 months after that was better still.

      • +1

and 2 months after the 2 months then 60$ credit was even better lol

  • Offer ends on Saturday.

  • How long are you locked in?

    • No contracts

  • Can anyone tell me what a "standard install" is. I can't seem to find any info on google other than it seems to be up to the whim of the person who turns up to install it.

    • +1

They test aerial for signal strength, install dish, put cables down for their dish 2 of them.

Will run cable to box for your aerial if they must. Anyway that was my experience.

    • +1

Just keep doing what your username says and you wouldn't have to worry about standard installation.

      • +2

You got me…I just want them to install a free dish and LNBF so I can point it at a different satellite and send their crap IQ3 box back to them. I've seen enough Hogan's Heroes reruns to last me a lifetime.

        • If it works then let me the trick to catch signals from another sat

    • +1

Excessive job time wise (more than 4 for one unit installed), more than 3 lengths of conduit required, ANY internal ducting required (not usually required), ground mount required (only if you live in bush areas usually). IF on the low chance that yours is not a standard install the technician will have to confirm with you so, and get a quote which you can approve or disapprove before commencing any work. They wont do any work until you give the go ahead that you are okay with the charges involved with the customised install. Sorry if that is poorly worded and hard to read.

  • Managed to combine this deal with Telstra's new Entertainment bundle https://www.telstra.com.au/bundles which offers free entertainment pack.

I'm already on telstra's $99/Mth 1000GB Home Phone + Internet bundle signed up not too long ago, happy to stay with Telstra for my Internet services for another 24 months considering my current contract just started recently.

This will save me $100 Foxtel installation fee from Telstra and I managed to ask the sales team to waive the re-contract fee and bigpond activation fee.

Looks like i need to pay for 1 month entertainment pack (lowest possible - $24) to get fully qualified for the deal (free IQ3 and free installation) if I don't get the T&C's wrong. Then I need to move to the Telstra entertainment bundle $99/Mth by 31/01/2017 (Telstra bundle deal expiry) which will offer me free re-contract, no activation fee and no Foxtel installation fee since there is an active Foxtel service.

    • Don't think you have to pay the 1 month fee for the entertainment pack as 1 month is free anyway!

      • Here'a the fine print:

~Offer based on direct debit for 1 month of Platinum HD pack. New residential subscribers and standard install only. Ongoing fees charged monthly in advance and apply after your first month unless you cancel. Cancellation occurs at end of monthly period. From month 2: $135/mth and a 1 cent per channel, per year charge also applies for Chelsea TV, MUTV and LFCTV. Offer ends 12.11.2016

Surely it would be good I don't need to pay anything.

    • So you can sign up to this deal (from Foxtel) and then move to the Entertainment bundle (from Telstra)?

That's pretty good, my exact same situation.

      • Do you know if Foxtel would let the user keep the box to be used with Telstra?

Only issue is it is a 24 month contract

        • +2

Nope, smart cards are tied to boxes.

Edit: Should say unlikely due to the above, not just nope.

        • @XeKToReX: this info is awesome. Good to know I got to keep the device.

        • @XeKToReX: Correct. New box will be required to be installed and you will have to return the first box when you cancel to foxtel (which is easy, they will send you a letter, take said letter and set top box/remote/etc to aus post and they will deal wit it)

      • Yes the 24x7 rep confirmed this with me.

  • Did they fix their IQ3?

  • Might want to see if the IQ2 is available instead; a lot of people have reported problems with the IQ3 and have been returning them for the IQ2:

    https://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Foxtel-iQ3/Cancellation-o…

From the sounds of it, even the latest update hasn't fixed the performance of the IQ3: https://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Foxtel-iQ3/Foxtel-iQ3-Sof…

They've ordered new hardware to replace the original IQ3, but not sure if that's available yet: http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2016/08/foxtel-orders-iq3-5.html

    • Hasn't there been about 3000 updates since the IQ3 box was released? I guess I'm skipping this box and going IQ2 -> IQ4, and hopefully it's not the same fustercluck.

  • If I get this deal from Foxtel and then change to the Telstra Entertainment Bundle would Foxtel let me keep the box to be used with Telstra supplied Foxtel?

    • +1

      No

  • Don't go for IQ3, it is an absolute nightmare and doesn't work properly. I had 3 IQ3 boxes before I demanded a refund and went back to the IQ2 box. Have a look at Foxtel's community board for the stories of pain and anguish. http://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Foxtel-iQ3/bd-p/Technical-…

  • Any cashback offer on cashrewards or Pricepal , how about that tightarse :D

  • if any anyone need install a Foxtel dish and run cable to living room ( without IQ Box ), i can do that.
    please pm me for price.

    • But this deal includes free install

    • What area? Might be keen

      • i lived in Lalor 3075

FOXTEL 1 Month Free + Free iQ3 + Free Setup + No Contract + No live EPL and some hackjob attempts with a few EPL team channels and some delayed games http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/epl-on-fox-sports-foxte…
    No thanks Mr. Murdoch!

  • You little beauty OP, what a rippa

Free install, and can dump it if it is not worth keeping at the end of the first month, with no exit fees. Plus this later allows me to then opt into Telstra Cable Internet deals if they come up.

Thank you so much for finding this one :-)

  • Turns out to be misleading. Foxtel chat room staff told me I would be charged a termination fee because the offer means you actually sign up for broadband. That part you can't cancel without penalties. The foxtel side can be cancelled within 30 days , but you will be left with a lame ADSL connection on a contract.

The Telstra $99 monthly for 1tb data and foxtel is Far better if you can get cable in your area.

    • if you get it bundled with broadband… if you don't bundle then no contract.. (you can see this online - once you add broadband the webpage immediately asks you to select a 12 or 24 month contract)
