Kmart has (had last week) an excellent "Portable Mantle DAB+ Radio" for $20. It uses microUSB charging for a multi-hour lithium ion battery. It has an earphone out socket.
In Perth it can access 44 stations including nearly all AM and FM stations plus digital TV radio stations and DAB only ones.

cheers, did you buy one? just wondering how it is. I imagine Brizzy would give it good workout, being hilly & having the GC & SC not far away, so the radio station power output probably is low (like Melb & Syd, thus coverage is crap))
Yeh, it's not too bad actually. I'm about 40 km from the CBD, and I still get a reasonable signal. Only minor downside is the finicky volume knob, but well worth $9.
Having said that, I might pick up the Aldi unit with bluetooth and see how it goes.
