  • Bought an i7/FHD Dell XPS13 for $1680 which is cheaper than any of the cashrewards/student discounts I've seen

  • meh, wanted a 850 evo prices still a bit high compared to msy.
Looks like Im waiting for black friday

    • +1

just curious, how much of a discount do they usually give for black friday?

      • Not sure but previous ebay deals had the 850 EVO 500gb for around $183-$187. Now it's $211+.

  • Can anyone comment on whether this is a good deal?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-nVidia-GeForce-GTX-1070-…

    • $579 AFTER 20% off isnt anything special! and NOT WORTH IT AT ALL

the delivery time is like a few weeks +

THATS THE NORMAL going price at retailers $579.00

      • Thanks mate, this is exactly the kind of information I was after in deciding whether or not to pull the trigger. In this case, I'll hold off for a better deal.

        • This is a little bit better and i would go for it if you dont mind waiting a week or two for delivery

          $632 at retail stores

        • @vid_ghost:

          Thanks you've been so helpful.

I'm a bit of newbie when in comes to this stuff - I assume that the main difference between the cards here largely comes down to clockspeed and cooling?

        • @soaringphoenix:

The cooling is better on the Asus. So is the LED lighting on the Asus, overall the Asus is the better product and it shows in the higher retail pricing on the product VS the Gigabyte G1

They are both auto overclocking to around 2Ghz (A GPU feature) and the OC'ed versions of these cards are almost 100% pointless!

i ended up buying a RX470 for $280 because its MORE then enough power for my 1080P Full HD 60Hz monitor in any game out on the market.

GTX1070 is only good if you want 144FPS (144Hz) 1080p Full HD
          or 60FPS 1440p 2kHD or some 4k gaming at 30FPS

        • @vid_ghost:

I'm gaming at 1440p and getting pretty mediocre performance with my current GTX 760 PC.

Okay, I'm pretty sold on the Asus. One last newb question if you have time (it's okay if you don't, you've already been so helpful).

          a review states: Dimensions 11.73 ” x 5.28 ” x 1.57 ” Inch
          29.8 x 13.4 x4 Centimeter
To have the best cooling performance, ASUS STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING extends the fansink to 2 slots. Please double check you Chassis and Motherboard dimension prior to purchase to make sure it fits in your system

Will it fit in my current http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4568#…

        • @soaringphoenix:

Looking at the information on my current GTX 760 -

          Its dimensions are: 15.9 x 9.3 x 3.5 inches

And an info page for it states: "Keeping the same 450W Cooling capacity using only 2 slots, the New WINDFORCE 3X 450W cooling system is equipped".

Sounds like both cards have this 2 slot setup, with the 1070 being smaller overall, however 1.5 inches thicker.

I guess the conclusion is that there should be no issues fitting this card into my current setup?

        • +1

          @soaringphoenix:

Your PC case is the only reason a graphics card woudnt fit inside your system..
The motherboard has nothing to do with it unless you are cramming two graphics cards on the one motherboard.

OR if you have some other card slotted into one of the PCI Express x1 slots :)

Power usage of the 1070 is similar to the GTX 760 so your current power supply should be fine also

        • @vid_ghost:

Okay I'm sold. Thanks again for all your help, vid_ghost. As you can tell, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to PC parts, so you've been incredibly helpful!

        • -1

          @soaringphoenix:

          no worries.
FYI. if you want your graphics card or PC in general to last longer "on hot summer days" its a good idea to open the side panel of the case of the PC when gaming longer then 20 minutes. :)

The dust that accumulates can be blown off if you take your PC case outside and use a bit of cardboard as a fan or use a vacuum to suck while its inside. have a nice day!

        • +1

@vid_ghost: I bought that card. Just used CashRewards for the additional 1.25%. Brings it down to $558.34

        • @brannor:

          :) its a pretty card!

        • @vid_ghost:

Thanks for the advice, vid_ghost. My case is admittedly far more dusty than it should be, and taking some steps to keep it cool on the increasingly hot days of late is something I probably need to consider more than I have.

Also getting Tuesday 22nd as an estimated delivery date, so no waiting for a couple of weeks - probably helps that I'm located about 15 minutes away from Alexandria, where the card is reportedly sending from.

        • @soaringphoenix:

          good luck .

OK guys so I have been waiting for this tech sale as I didn't want to pay for price for the Nintendo Classic system which was $99… but I can't seem to be able to search for it. So if somebody could link me that would be cool.

Thanks Op been watching Belkin Wemo switch at $59 for a while http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231206142865 No price increase so got it for $47.20 free shipping.

  • These sales are becoming more and more bullshit every time I see one come up. They need to be forum posts at best.

I put a heap of things on my watch list and waited for these type of sales to come up again and most items have increased by more than 20%. It's like they are all taking a direct line out of the Kogan retailing 101 play book.

Your 20%off sales are a joke eBay.

    • List of items please

    • Yep - I call bullshit.

Show us the items list (Ebay item numbers will be sufficient)

  • Thanks. Bought Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro SD card. $47 delivered.

    • Where did you buy your one from? I'm looking for the sdxc one

  • Bought Microsoft's tenkeyless wireless keyboard and mouse set for $103.20, which is the cheapest price on the web by $15. Good option for someone who wants a tenkeyless keyboard, but can't have loud, mechanical key switches. The only issue is getting used to the ergonomic shape.

  • I'm struggling with the search on my phone and was hoping someone else might also be looking for a MacBook Air 13inch.

    Any suggestions?

  • damnit wanted to buy battlefied, but dungeon crawl has it for 96 on ebay but 86 on their website lol…that price inflation

Not sure if I should make a post but the Canon 5D MK IV is a pretty good deal at 5388 inc GST -$1000 Code + Cashrewards + TRS = 3800ish with 2YR AUS Warranty

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-IV-DSLR-Body-On…

    • Ah .. great deal … sold out!

  • At risk of getting shot down, can anyone recommend any Windows\Android tablets in the sale. I was originally looking for a Surface Pro, but if there are any decent Android tablets at a good price I would appreciate any feedback.

    • What do you want to do with the tablet ? Surface Pro is like a full on laptop/pc

    • Hey Addo. I would like to convenience of having a Windows device, such as the Surface Pro, as I could then replace my old heavy laptop. But I know the Surface Pro 5 probably isn't too far into the New Year, so should probably wait until it's released then decide if I get a Pro 5, or a discounted Pro 4 - as there is no 8GB model in the sale.

I basically only need an Android tablet for browsing and multimedia, nothing too fancy I guess. MicroSD would be a massive bonus. Are there any decent dual boot (Windows and Android) devices, or am I better to use separate devices which are built for purpose?

      • +1

As far as Android tabs go. Id have a look at the nvidea shield k1 and the Asus zenpad. Both around 200-250. I don't suggest Samsung because they are overpriced and the Samsung operating system id a buggy slow pos. I would probably do this the get a cheaper bulkier Asus rog laptop. But that's because I play games and don't walk around all day with a laptop.

The surface is good for covering both bases. But only if lightness is a factor in your decision and money is less of an issue.

I also think the 5s might be more delayed due to them only just announcing these newer surface books with old sixth gen chips.

        • Thanks dude! I am pretty much after a budget tablet at this stage, until I can justify paying for a laptop replacement. To be honest, I was looking at Samsung so thanks for the feedback as both your recomendations are at a sweet price point for me! :)

        • @Camira: no probs. You'll find both the shield tegra k1 and zenpad are considerably better than the Samsung tablets at the same Price point.

      • +1

I think it all depends on the $$ you want to spend, if you buy a surface and only use it like a tablet then its just waste of money.

Like the poster before me, SP5 is coming out Q1 2017, with most likely a 7th Gen Processor. I have the SP4 the only downside to this device is how much its costs to repair if you ever drop it. $550AUD for a cracked glass (glass and lcd is fused).

I also recently bought a Huawei M3 8.4" Tablet ( comes with an MicroSD slot up to 256gb) from Aliexpress. because I found it holding the SP4 for 3-4 hours too heavy.

There are many dual boot devices out there but I have not found one that comes with great OTA updates. Chinese made tablets tend to have the common issue of getting no updates after release.

also Keep in mind a surface with 8GB is $1500+ you can get a pretty decent laptop + tablet for that.

        • I do a lot of work remotely, so I would definitely get the use out of a laptop replacement, but I struggle to justify the cost when I've still got a working laptop. Didn't know about the massive cost with repairs of the Surface Pro though…..

Will look into the Huawei suggestion, so thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I've always been weary of getting a dual boot devices

  • This looks like the deal,
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-KD55X8000C-55-Inch-4K-Ultra-…
should be about $1030 after discount

    • Just note that it is a refurb. I bought refurb wireless headphones from the Sony ebay store which are perfect but just a heads up.

    • It's refurbished and you can get this model new for about $1100.

      • thanks for the heads up.
        Where for $1100?

        • It was available here just recently for that price.

If you can wait, there should be some nice sales coming up close to Christmas.

  • well i am was a happy customer

Teds Camera house sale was good for me

saved AU $499.99 on this purchase - Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM II

Is there an iphone 7 plus for sale on the 20% off deal?

  • +1

WOW, I can get the Ring Video doorbell for 20% off. This is awesome. Yay!!

  • Sony FDR-X3000 4K action camera from Ted's for $450 delivered

  • -1

Anyone found any mini iPad 4 128gb cellular?

    • try 'itglobalsale' store.
      They have apple products.

  • Has Ted camera house upped their prices. Last time I looked the rx100 mk3 was $999 and now it's $1099?! Sucks

    • Looks like pricing has gone up in the market. JB were $999 a few months ago, but they have increased pricing to $1199 due to limited stocks still from the Kumamoto earthquakes. Currently $999 on promo though.

      • So I wasn't imagining it. I thought maybe I had remembered the pricing wrong. I did do a search and had noticed that the camera had gone up in prices in a few different stores. Is the reason for this price hike due to the earthquakes? Should I wait for the v version to be released and stock levels to go back to normal before I buy the iv version?

    • ahaha jesus i thought those guys didn't price hike

      • +1

Actually the price hasn't been changed for 2 months.

        See Item Revision Details

        The last price change was:

        26-Sep-16 17:38:40 AEST
        Buy It Now Price

I believe it's always been some very high price, even before that if I remember correctly. Can only assume they don't actually have any on hand and just have that price incase someone was out of their mind and they could order one in, or something similar.

  • +1

CTD-au jacked the price up on their Galaxy S7. ShamelessBargain had posted it as a deal but asked for it to be removed after the price was increased.

    • +1

      I saw that one too..

Too bad what they do. It its hardly ever a 20% discount bargain with sellers like that around

  • Any Samsung Galaxy Edge 7 on offer? Cant find any good priced ones

  • sadly, no good deals on the NAS I want

    • Same. Been looking for a Synology ds1815+ for a while now and each time one of these sales comes up I hope that it will be the time where the prices aren't jacked up so that after the discount it's not just as expensive as available without sale from elsewhere but no joy yet.

      What NAS you chasing?

      • haha, I am looking at the exact same NAS as you..

I am in no rush, so each time there is a sale I will just keep an eye out..
hopefully ebay will have another 10-15% off site wide, and can grab it from a cheaper seller then.

I am in no rush for one.

  • Thanks OP, I bought a couple of Proart PA279Q monitors. Savings weren't huge compared to the cheapest deals I found online but it meant I could earn Amex Points, Cash Rewards + Free Shipping for something I was going to buy anyway

  • +4
The prices are jacking up. Search the item without the code globally first, probably you won't need the code!
    • +1

Agree with this. I got lower price without using this code.

  • Does anyone know why the Galaxy S7 deal that was here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/276350 has been unpublished? I have a friend who purchased the phone and is now worried that the deal was actually a sham.

    • My comment above:

"CTD-au jacked the price up on their Galaxy S7. ShamelessBargain had posted it as a deal but asked for it to be removed after the price was increased."

      • +1

Oh I see….very poor form of the seller. Well….my firend was fortunate to have bought the phone for the original 'deal' price….doesn't make me feel so bad anymore.

        • A few people (myself included) were a bit concerned with the "warranty" they were offering. The official Samsung website says that mobiles have 2 years of warranty whereas CTD claimed it only came with 1 year. They also didn't reply to anyone's email who asked for clarification on this! They lost my business, that's for sure. I had it in my cart ready to go, so I'm a bit disappointed actually.

  • decent mirrorless camera around 400-500?

e-m10 mark ii. $450 after 20% off and Olympus cashback

      • Thanks mate. ill grab it

      • Is that price for the body only? Seems to be $570 if you want a lens included.

        • +1

correct body only. with kit is what you said.

      • Which store is this?

  • Does anyone know when this deal end????

    • Read the bottom of the post. 24 Nov 11:59pm - 7 days left

  • Anyone have any feedback on Futu Online / Shopping Express Outlet? My son wants an Asus VG248QE Monitor and they are all overpriced on ebay IMO but it comes down to $359.20 with both sellers (who I see appear to be the same seller). The cheapest I've seen elsewhere is $399 with local pick-up. I suppose I'm mainly after feedback about how they are if there is a problem with the product.

    • What feedback do you need?

They are one of the largest ebay and online sellers for tech stuff.

If you have a problem with the product, you claim on manufacturer's warranty. That is the difference between retail stores vs online.

EDIT TO ADD: Irrespective of Australian Consumer Law, the bottom line is that you will get dicked around something dreadful if you try to get a faulty product serviced via an online retailer. They won't break the law, but they will not necessarily be speedy or helpful in resolution.

    • Yeah Futu Online & Shopping Express are the same seller, absolutely no difference which one you pick. They are pretty well regarded + what llama said above.

  • I was looking for new phone this morning, targeted a phone for $349.99, I ask seller a few question, in the afternoon when I want to make a order, price added $30, I e-mail them for the price in the morning, the reply I can get 20% off, this is how sales is.

    • Just out of interest, which phone was that?

      • refurbished Microsoft Lumia 950 XL

    • A few items I had on my list had "make an offer" on them, so I put in the price that had on the items a week or so before this sale and got the same response, "offer declined: please use xxxxx code to get 20% off". Um, no. Your item was that price a week ago, I'm not paying the jacked up price because you're greedy and eBay is paying for part of it.

While there are some saving and great deals out there, I have seen items that were $149 a month ago suddenly jack up to $199. Or base model iPads that are $100 to $200 over retail.
