Is this model Alright? Anyone can give me some suggestions, Ima buy it tonight..

  • Might buy this, any real difference between buying from Apple and a 3rd party like Dick Smith?

None. Apple offer the same level of support regardless of where or from whom you buy their things.

      • Cheers :) Just brought it.

  • The store on William St in Perth was offering 10% of all Apple Macs not just this model… and sure enough so does their online store.

ttkc - can you update the description accordingly?

    • Just edited. I personally would't spend more than $1.5k for a laptop so I think the Macbook Pro 13 is still the most affordable/cheap to me haha. And 13 inch is best size not too big yet not too small.

  • Thanks!

    ordered for real =D
    happy :)

    LOL
i guess they got that wrong

I think that might be the weight of the box including all manuals etc. since it might be relevant for shipping etc.

  • it's even cheaper than student discount! must buy.

  • Nice. Would be good to see a similar deal on the overpriced Mac Minis.

  • yeah… i wouldn't go near apple to buy their overpriced stuff… have Mac and Win & both,, prefer mostly win 7, due to compatibility and flexibility….. Windows is way to go….

    • I agree. Up to Windows 7 I always wanted a macbook. Infact I almost bought one. Then I played with Windows 7. I don't really want a macbook anymore. :) Besides, my $580 acer has better specs than all macbooks under $2k. It just comes down to personal choice. Window 7 evened the field a little bit more.

My win7 i5 dual boots into mac os. Best of both worlds

Their hardware is expensive but some of the software bundles are good value, like Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio, and the standard stuff like GarageBand and iMovie, but it depends if you are the sort of user who would ever use such software. Logic Studio really shook up the DAW market, you used to have to pay over $2000 for a suite of software like that, or pirate it. I would have bought Logic Studio but instead I went for Sonar 8, found a damaged box copy on ebay for cheap.

I've gone back to a Windows 7 PC now in a nice Lian Li case. Building your own PC can be fun! Apple (trying) to make it difficult to upgrade components in their iMac/Mini range is insulting and really is just to earn their Service Centre more profit.

  • it needs to be 330 dollars cheaper before i consider getting something with weak arse (possible last gen) components and for a 13" its still heavy, shame they don't make a netbook or something similar, an ipad just doesn't cut it.

    • Yes the 13" do use last gen components, C2D instead of thew newer core iX in the 15" and 17".

  • My cousin got the i7 15" Macbook Pro for $2226, with the 10% discount, and my staff discount. Awesome price considering it retails at $2798.

  • This is essentially the same computer as the vanilla Macbook, so be aware the specs aren't amazing. You just get a much nicer body for that premium. I'd only recommend this for Mac OS fans or people who must have a mac (for whatever reason), there are much better PC deals out there.

  • Too bad you can't get the printer deal at DSE too. Just bought my 13" MBP for $1399 (EDU discount) at the new Perth Apple store. Also grabbed a printer too which I get $130 cashback for so in the end its a better deal anyway. DSE deal trumps everything though if you aren't a student :)
