10% off Wetek Android TV Boxes @ Wetek Store

100
HTL10WS1

Hi all,

Given the overwhelming popularity of Android TV boxes (plus growing interest in WeTek devices), I figured I'd share the code here if anyone's interested.

Currently, they're stocking both the WeTek Hub and WeTek Play 2:

  • WeTek Hub - US$80.91 (~AU$110)
  • WeTek Play 2 - US$107.91 (~AU$147)

Shipping is $20 for DHL/TNT/etc (1-3 days according to the checkout page).

The WeTek Hub is a tiny (and I mean tiny!) Android TV box powered by the quadcore Amlogic S905-H.

The WeTek Play 2 features the quadcore Amlogic S905 as well as a digital TV tuner for watching live TV.

WeTek devices are widely considered the gold standard of Android TV boxes thanks to their amazing Kodi support, regular firmware updates and support for other firmwares.

Plus they're some of the only Android TV boxes that support 1080p Netflix (most are limited to SD resolutions).

I personally have a WeTek Hub hooked up so let me know if you've got any questions…

I've managed to organise a rare 10% off code for WeTek Android TV boxes over at their official store for my site, Home Theatre Life.

    that website bites.

clicked on the wetek core page in a half a dozen places to finally be informed that it is out of stock.

can you spare us the time and effort of searching around for the prices.

    how much is delivery?

    • Shipping appears to be US$20 via DHL/TNT/etc. According to the checkout, it should be delivered in 1-3 days. I've updated the description with pricing.

      • thanks for updating

  • Do these work well / have full functionality with Harmony remotes over IR?

  • The reports are that these are the bees knees except for their crap remotes

    • Yeah, I love the Hub. The remote is pretty much a standard IR remote. Not as good as the 2.4GHz air mouse included in the old WeTek Play but it does the job.

  • Good box but I'll stick to my shield. Upvote for effort.

  • Darkscythe, do you know whether or not the WeTek HUB can downmix DTS, DTS-HD MA 5.1, DTS-HD MA 7.1 formats to 2.0 (stereo)? I've searched around but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Friend wants to be able to play video files containing these audio formats but doesn't have an AVR or TV that can decode these, so looking around for a player with built in decoding.

    • SPMC (Android Specific Kodi) and regular Kodi can do this.

  • The WeTek play looks like it can be used to run console emulators through Lakka / RetroArch:

Pros: Box provided. Powerful CPU. Good quality for the GPU BLOBs able to run mupen64plus at full speed. The WeTek team have been very helpful, they sent us a free sample. Officially supported by OpenELEC.

Cons: No access to the bootloader. Resolution fixed to 720p. No way to disable their white bootsplash that stays behind the game viewport.

Conclusion: If you are a N64 fan, and you have a 720p TV, and are not annoyed playing with a white background, it can be OK.

That seem to be written for the initial version, I assume the Play 2 is better. I've never owned either though, so don't buy it just based one my word!

  • Which product type do we choose?

    • Hi Mattyfaz,

      We're DVB-T in Australia :)

  • Hi

Whats the difference between the two (hub and play 2).

Also, do they have a usb where i can play local content off a portable HDD?

    Thanks

    • Hi,

The Key differences are that the Play 2 has a TV tuner and 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB in the Hub, though it loses wireless AC.

Both have USB ports for playing media
