I have this exact drive, great value, pretty quiet - good performance. Just keep in mind that it uses non standard mounting holes. You may need to cut bits off HDD brackets in order to fit it in a standard case. I had to take plastic tabs off my hard drive caddies.

You sure you mounted it right? I've literally never seen an internal drive with non-standard mount points…

      • Yeah, I've been building PCs for a very long time. Check the newegg reviews of it too, they also mention it. This particular model is non-standard for mounting for SOME cases. For example, my Phanteks drive caddies didn't fit it. I had to mod it.

It might be slightly different though as I realised mine was the 6TB model, not the 5TB.

"The major problem with these drives is that the bottom mounting screw holes are too wide apart. I could only mount this hard drive to two of the four mounting points on a standard hard disk tray. The end result is that the drives still vibrate in the case, they are not solidly mounted down."

Depends on the caddy you're using, I guess. Bare in mind, the side screws fit perfectly, it was the bottom holes that were out by a bit and caused the drive to lift up unless you take out the plastic tabs that were in the wrong spot.

Hdd mounts and sizing are a worldwide standard, and fitted fine in my rather expensive supermicro and sell caddies along with several PC mounts.

Can confirm this. I have a few 6TB X300 ones and they are standard mounts, like any other hard drive.

  • you can use this with the $10 credit deal, even cheaper

  • I ordered one from Amazon in may for AU$164.32 delivered.
The mounting holes are standard. it's a little noisy but I don't care for this price. I might hit this deal because it's still great value and my camera RAW files are massive.

Based on current exch rates, USD 125 is approx AUD169, so you probably got it cheaper back in May, esp with delivery included. Although still a great price.

  • Trigger pulled. Two ordered. Was holding out for super-bargain 6TB drives for my media server, but this is just too cheap by comparison. Not much info around regarding reliability of these drives, but happy to take my chances.

  • The 3TB is $69.95, so 2 for 138.90.

For an extra US$13, you get an extra TB, and some redundancy. Good for those that have less to store and want it 2 copies of their data.

  • This has a 2 year warranty but I can't find mention of it being international.
    Anyone know?

    Here is the warranty.

I think the seller has upped the price now. It's still a good price vs. $260+post locally, but not an as big bargain as listed here.

    • nah, that one's sold by a third party. The Amazon one for US$125 is now out of stock.

      • It's back in stock again, 125usd+ 9.33 forcshipping
