UPDATE: Thanks to Dajakup, it's come to my attention that this iPad sale is for today only (24 Nov 16). If stores have closed, your only chance is online now. If paying by AMEX, I don't think they let you split your payments.

Unfortunately, I could not find any mention of this iPad promo on HN's website aside from checking prices of individual items, so the end date was unknown. Even the pricing on the item page does not tell you when the promo price ends as it normally would. Better act quick if you still want one at 10% off their usual price.

Does it holographically project movies yet, or should I wait for the next version?

    • Probably never with Apple.

If anybody is in Melbourne and all out of HN American Express credits, feel free to PM me. I may be able to help.

    • How much will you charge for them?

      • Charge for what?

        • To use your AMEX credits..

          @lostn:

          Ummm nothing.

Just wanted to lend a helping hand.

          @KaptnKaos:
Wow that's actually really nice of you. Kudos to you!

        • @KaptnKaos: Seems you're genuine. My apologies.

I guess the only way this would work is if someone near you goes to shop with you. I personally would not want to meet strangers to help them out, but good on you.

        • Being a true ozbargainer, I'll be taking up the Kaptn's offer if the iphone is not included in apple black Friday sale.

          @KaptnKaos: Thanks a lot KaptnKaos.
For the record, I did take up KaptnKaos' offer. He went out of his way to help a stranger. He is one amazing human being.

        • @Ronney:

Glad to help mate, hope you've enjoyed the goodies!

  • Can't be too much longer before the next ipad pro is released?

    • The Air 3 and Mini 5 were expected a few months ago.. I think Apple skipped a year because they had nothing new.

They quietly doubled the storage capacities of last year's models for the same price.

    • +1

I've been hearing rumours about iPads with almost bezel-to-bezel display (which sounded little bit suss, but rumours, you read them for fun). That said, iPad Mini line definitely needs a newer model.

      Anyways, March next year?

  • Amex $100 credit - deal info states Apple products are excluded. Anyone received $100 credit for Apple products? Please advise as I want to buy iPad. Thanks.

    • They say that, but AMEX has no way of knowing what you bought. They say gift cards are excluded also, but they work.

      • It worked. Bought ipad air 2, last weekend, got the credit right away. Anybody knows if we can claim price differences with HN, the 32gb I bought last week dropped by $34 from the link above :(

        • +1

Not sure if that's a good idea, since they might look into what you bought and find out that they gave you $100 back for something that was excluded from the T&C of the cashback deal. They would then be in their rights to take back the $100.

You just gotta take your lumps I guess.

I'd been wanting a Pro 128GB for a while now, was unsure whether I should wait till Dec 30 (last day for credits) and see if better deals were coming. I almost bit the bullet a few days ago when it was $988. Then it went back to $997. I hoped they would do another $100 HN Gift card offer at $997 like they did a few months ago, but who would have thought it would be a price cut of $100? And so soon at that…

Lucky I waited. There's another item I've been looking at, a Dyson fan (yes I know they are overpriced) which just got cut $100 today. Wish I had more credits… But I almost bought that a few days ago also.

        • @lostn: The cashback is from amex, HN can't check. And I don't plan to return the ipad, just want to know if they'd refund the difference due to price drop like TGG. I guess, just have to ask nicely tmrw, never know. All ipad air 2 price gone up actually from last weekend, except 32gb one. With the current offer, pro actually offer much better value for money

        • @hanofee:

You mean if the retailer will refund the difference? Probably not. TGG probably has a price guarantee. I don't think HN does.

I thought you were going to use your credit card's price protection guarantee and have AMEX refund you the difference.

        • @lostn: yeah, that was my question, if HN has price guarantee like TGG. Will give it a try tmrw, nothing to lose anyway :)

  • Thanks for posting….been looking on ebay to grab one and this is cheaper than some that sold 2nd hand

  • Meh. iFrog has them at $879.65, regular price. Courier delivery is $25 to my postcode though.

    • It is cheaper (sans shipping) but I'd rather buy from HN than iFrog. Are iFrog an online store? HN is everywhere. Returns and pickup is much easier. Return policy is good, and they have stores everywhere.

And also, I saved up 3 AMEX credits… this really is the only place you want to be buying an iPad right now.

      • I think they have a physical store. At least they have an address and opening hours…

Plenty of people on Whirlpool have bought from them.

Also, HN don't have the 256GB models, so I wouldn't say it's the only place :)

        • Fair point if you're after 256GB. Going to be expensive I imagine.

At the prices Apple charges for storage, I don't think I'd ever pay for it.

      • Agreed with lostn. Will pick from HN anyday over iFrog, even if I don't have Amex offer. Unless u really hate Gerry :)

  • Sorry friends, but I've been away from the action for a while and just read this post.
I don't have exact figures to quote but I purchased an iPad Pro 9.7" WiFi 128 GB for circa $850 about 2 months ago from Office Works by citing the online price quoted by ifrog.com.au
OW's price at the time was about $950 so I asked them to price match ifrog, and they did plus they beat ifrog by a further 5%.
Apologies for not providing exact figures but I'm on the road and invoices with exact amounts are at home.

My post said possibly the cheapest without price matching.

Fair call, lostn. I didn't seek to belittle your remarks, I simply sought to provide info. Cheers!!

  • I bought one yesterday direct from Apple. I found that a lot of local stores had no stock. Benefits of direct from apple was free express shipping and free engraving… Although $100 off would have been nice

    • I have mine reserved. You can check stock online and do a quick reserve online. They will hold it for you until end of next business day. You don't have to pay for it until you collect it.

I'm picking it up tomorrow for $597 (with a $3 item) after AMEX cashbacks. Apple normally charges $999. If you pay full price from Apple all you gained is the engraving. Most stores will do free shipping on orders above a certain dollar amount.

      • True. that is a great price. Although i already used my amex deal on a coffee machine a week or so ago. Ill jut be happy with the engraving and not think about the fact that it cost me an extra $100

      • How do you reserve one online?

        • Check store stock, find one IN STOCK, then press the Quick Reserve button.

        • @lostn: nup couldn't quick reserve it. The option just doesn't come up for me. Any ideas?

  • I was in-store today, there was a sign that said 10% off ipads Thursday Only. 9am-9pm I'm in SA, so late night shopping today).

    • Their store price often is higher than online. That's what happened to me last weekend too. They'd match their own online store for sure, but doubt if they'd give both discount and price match if store price is higher. Good luck though

      • In other words, Apple's price?

    • Thank you for this info. Will update the post.

  • Was looking to get a iPad Air 2 with 128gb. Guess they sold out

    • +1

It's an extra $100 for a Pro which will have an updated processor and should support new iOS versions for longer than Air 2 (without slowing down).

But surely some store will have one they can send to you? Shipping should be free over a certain spend, though I'm not certain of that. Or just order it online?

      • Thanks. Was thinking about the pro but thought it will be overkill as I mainly use for email, web surfing, games, watching YouTube and videos so iPad Air seems best suited. But $100 more may be worth it.

        • +1

Ipad air 2 wifi 128gb is $688 so bit more than $200 extra for the pro..

        • @tarken: I see thanks. Do you think it's worth the extra if you had to make the decision?

        • @Jared17:
I've just made my decision. I chose Air 2 128GB. $688 less Amex $100x2, less GST $62 (I'm traveling in 2 weeks). Can't go wrong with that money.

  • IS this today only?

    • I don't know, but that's what I've been told so I've updated the post accordingly. I could not find info on this promo online or in store, did not see it in newspapers either. I only discovered it by accident while looking up prices.

Web site does not mention the promo or when the pricing is valid until. Marked it as today only to be safe.

If you're on the east coast, stores will have closed by now so you're only shot is online.

      • Just chat online with their rep. He said today only. So, online might be ur only chance. Otherwise, take ur chance for Apple's Black Friday tmrw and ask for price match

        • Oh I happened to live 5 minutes away from HN, so I managed to get there in time. :)

Got my 3 cashbacks confirmed already.

        • So they allow you to split the payment by different cards? Do you mind telling me which HN did you go to? Thx

        • +2

@lostn: Nice one, that's a very good price, I wish I had multiple Amex card with the offer :). Btw, I went to HN store this morning and asked nicely when store are not busy, no issue to get the $34 difference back from the one I bought on Sunday (thanks again for the post). HN do have 7 days price best guarantee as I asked the online rep (the only hesitation the sales guy in store had, was whether 1 day sale like yesterday is acceptable for price guarantee, so he asked his manager and got approved right away). So, keep an eye on the pricing within next week (though I doubt anyone would do a better price than yours anytime soon - maybe not until Apple release the next gen iPad :))

        • @hanofee: Awesome. I didn't even know that.

How long is the price guarantee at TGG?

        • @hsct: I think all of them do. I went to Knox (VIC).

  • I just wanted to check Apple's refurb section and the entire site is telling me to check back tomorrow.

Traditionally their discounts have been 10%. Any chance they could be bigger tomorrow?

    • +1

I remember a black friday deal a few years back they gave you some amount back depending on the model, in the form of a gift card. The gift card had to be used on the next purchase of course. They are smart.

The gift card amount was nothing spectacular. Apple are tight.

To answer your question, I do think they will do something, possibly $100 on Pro 128GB. But I prefer this deal because I got 3 cashbacks from AMEX for it. I don't think Apple can match that.

      • Thanks for your reply.

Their 12" iPad Pro refurbs were about $990 for 32gig and the 128 about 100 more. If either of these were discounted tomorrow I'd be very tempted.

But not with a gift card. Hate gift cards. Just give me the discount!

        • Apple thinks about themself first, customer second.

If the credit is in gift card, they know you'll be coming back and spending it on them instead of somewhere else. It's a win/win either way for them. Any money they give you back isn't a loss because it's only going to return to them. So whatever you buy with your $100 Apple store gift card will not cost close to $100 for them.

Personally I hate going to the Apple store. It's so busy. They have a lot of staff but around xmas time the line outside curves around the balcony. You won't even know where the line begins and where it ends. People are actually willing to wait that long to get served. I certainly am not.

        • @lostn:

I only go to an Apple Store when they open. There's only about 20 people waiting to get in. Go an hour later and forget about it.
