Why did you edit the deal, and removed the Evo Select 128GB? Sold out, or…..?

    • +2

Yeah pretty much sold out now (>90%), by the time people see the deal they don't have much chance.

      • Ta. Can you please tell me your Aussie total in the end? It's telling me AU42.15.

        • yeah it's that, pay in USD with a fee free card if you want a better conversion of around ~AU$41 (Amazon conversion rate is really bad)

        • @lyl: Damn it! Was under too much pressure as time was ticking down so I've chickened out. lol
          Thanks anyway.

        • @lyl: Thanks. I've a 64GB from an earlier OzB deal in my phone that isn't even 10% full so that's why I wasn't too eager to pull the trigger too quick. Hopefully some other time.

  • Bought, thanks OP!

    • How much was your total AUD? Have got about 5 minutes before I have to pull the trigger.

      • +1

Guessing via 28 degrees, around 145? still way cheaper than retail here.

  • if i take this to a computer store u reckon they can swap out the standard 2013 mac mini drive with this?

    • +3

Yes. If you're talking about the late 2012 model, It uses a standard 2.5" drive.

      • +1

        Thanks mate

  • +1

im thinking about building up a desktop computer. so can i buy this basically as a part of it? or what exactly should i be paying attention to?

    • +5

You need to learn what you are doing before jumping into such a thing.

Is this drive the best one for your needs?

Would you better using a more modern interface than SATA that this drive uses?

Do you need a SSD this large?

Once you collect the parts, do you have the skills to assemble them, then set up the operating system etc?

How will you know what components to collect, what is compatible? How will you create a balanced combination that maximises overall performance for a given budget?

Generally, the old adage is "if you need to ask the question, then you shouldn't be doing it".

      • +2

In addition, this is a BUDGET SSD. It's specifically a low-end SSD designed as a "Get me off this mechanical nightmare" option. (Hence TLC)

Assembling a PC is easy. Choosing the parts to fit your budget and what you want etc, is the harder task.

Baldur: spend some time on YouTube and educate yourself with as much knowledge as possible to learn about how things go together and where bottlenecks can form. If this seems daunting, buy a machine from a PC shop. Do NOT buy a pre-built machine from JB, HN, GG et al.

        • im thinking about getting a gaming pc actually. so i thought an ssd would be a must. i am not sure whether a low end ssd would be an issue for gaming? my budget is around 1500 dollars. i already bought ddr4 32gb ram and i plan to buy either geforce 1060 or 1070. in my case, do you think this ssd would be a decent choice?

        • @baldur: Negative, if you're stumping up for a 1070, get a better SSD. No use having to deal with terrible load times if you can avoid it ;) (to be fair, it wouldn't be terrible, it's still an SSD after all)
With what's available now, there's no reason not to head for an NVME SSD (M.2 or PCIE slot, depending on what system you're building) if you can stretch the budget to afford it.

      • +3

No you don't. Coming from someone who just built his first pc with no experience, ignore @llama… I've built ikea furniture that was harder than making a PC and the only way you'll learn is by doing it. Sure do a fair bit of research into what kind of PC you want/need first. Then check out some builds and parts combinations on https://au.pcpartpicker.com/, find someone who has done a build you think suits your needs/budget/size/etc and essentially copy it (not necessarily part for part, it is your pc afterall). Next check out a few build guides and videos to make sure you're confident you can do it, i.e. you can use a screwdriver and understand static. Then just list every part you want on pcpartpicker to make sure they're compatible, get everything else you'll need (tools, heat paste, etc) before you start and most importantly, don't rush it… and by that I mean you should accumulate parts over a few months using the best deals to get the thriftiest machine possible, otherwise you're not a true ozbargainer

        • +1

Coming from someone who just built his first pc with no experience, ignore @llama

What use is a SATA SSD on a motherboard that uses NVME drives?

Sure do a fair bit of research into what kind of PC you want/need first

          YEP. Do that first.

          …and THEN buy the parts.

        • +4

@llama: I for one went SATA on an board that supported NVMe also. The drive was a good 40% cheaper. I don't think he'll struggle to find a motherboard to take a SATA drive and it's very unlikely that a SATA SSD won't meet his needs, even if we're just taking a stab in the dark.

        • +1

@Smigit: But if his budget is $1500 and he's considering a 1070, I'd definitely pony up for a better SSD than this, SATA or not. The Samsung 960 Evo just came out and I'd seriously consider that if he's intending to use this for a while.

        • +1

@Strand0410: Depends. This is a pretty good price for the capacity and part of me would prefer that to potentially neglible real world differences in performance.

    • +1

How much storage did you need? Speed? What motherboard you thinking? What connectors? Why not NVMe? No one knows your budget and performance needs more than yourself, but you should do more research on the latter (eg linustechtips) before splashing out just because it seems cheap.

    • Reddit.com/r/buildapc the guys there are very helpful

  • don't forget to try Cashrewards.
Thanks OP. I just bought the SSD

  • Is this at par with Samsung Eco 750 or 850 pro
    Or doesn't matter
    I have no knowledge

    • From a trusty Anandtech review

To put this into perspective, under ordinary consumer and end-user/home workloads, the MX300 performs at its peak near the top of the TLC charts. On most tests we found the MX300 to be remarkably power efficient. Other things being equal, TLC is typically slower and more power hungry than MLC, but the MX300 is more power efficient on most than most MLC drives. Having this level of efficiency is extremely promising for Micron's 3D MLC and an accomplishment worth some kudos.

    • Is this at par with Samsung Eco 750 or 850 pro

In "quality" terms it is probably between a 750 EVO and an 850 EVO

The 850 Pro is in a completely different (higher) category.

  • +6

Dam I bought the 500gb one for 160aud tbe other day. I feel bit ripped off now grrr

    • +1

Guys i'm going to return the one from shopping express and get this one instead. their return policy looks good so shouldn't be an issue. This is on their website http://imgur.com/a/2dIfE

Also there's free returns if you paid via Paypal

  • +1

    Couldn't resist. Cheers op.

  • +1

    bought ssd and steam link,thanks.

    • SSD and steam is a nice combination ………..already have 1TB SSD full of steam, grabbed a one of these 750GB also ………… onlt thing I still have on spindle is movies ………… how often do you watch the same move ………

      • maybe never。 I bought this to replace my old 128g ssd.

      • My steam library is too big for this. Don't see any speed issues with my steam library on a 3TB 3.5" (former external
        Need a 2TB+ SSD at a Crucial MX300 750GB price lol.

        • The advantage of Steam is you can split your steam games to put all your new games in a SSD library and old ones you dont play leave on the HDD. Easy to do…

        • Load times on mechanical drives is annoying with most games.

  • +1

Have been itching to upgrade my Crucial M4 128GB… thanks!

Paid around the same price for the one above too… crazy :)

    EDIT: 160AUD for the 128GB!

  • +2

Tried so hard to think of a way to utilise this, but can't. Bawling my eyes out. If only there was the 2TB for $381…

  • Would this fit in a PS4? Thinking of supercharging mine and this deal looks pretty sweet

  • Will this fit in my really old NEC VERSA E6300 intel core duo2 laptop?

    • -2

Who knows. You have the laptop and we don't…

…so why don't YOU LOOK for yourself?

    • +2

Your current drive is SATA = it fits.

Pull the drive out to see.. while it's off ;)

      • +1

Also need to check and compare the thickness.

When I got a BX100 it included a spacer, not sure if this one does or not…. or whether it is even necessary.

        • +1

It's a 7mm drive, and it includes the spacer. It's on the box, in the picture ;)

        • -3

          @promethbastard:

It's on the box, in the picture

          Honestly, I don't care.

It's up to that OP above to use their own eyes, and work out what they need for their poxy old laptop.

        • @llama:
Obviously, you do care, as you're commenting.

        • -1

          @promethbastard:

bargainhereicome doesn't care very much. So I inherit that :-D

When you posted I didn't look at the pictures of the box, because I was too busy in Amazon checkout deciding which shipping method to use LOL

    • +1

Usually most laptops have the 2.5 inch housings which will be compatible to this SSD. But you should take out your current drive and just check, not sure about the model of your laptop.

      • Thanks promethbastard and abetastic for the help :)

  • bought 1, thanks OP.

  • +1

Awesome deal! Best ever price per GB/TB?

  • Thanks! Got 1. I just ordered 525GB on Ebay for $160 an hour ago lol Sent a message to seller and hope they can cancel before shipping. Return policy looks good so no loss.

  • +1

Snagged one thanks OP, any recommendations for a decent imaging tool for my Windows 10 Pro 128 GB SSD to copy over to this new one when it arrives?

    • +1

yes, EaseUS ….only need free edition…..untag the optional addware when you install….also allows you alter the partition size after cloning.

      • Agreed. Great program.

  • +1

    Thanks op, bought 1.

This is awesome product with an excellent price tag

    • -1

      What is THISsupposed to mean?

      This deal for the MX300?

Or the link to a completely different product that you randomly copy/pasted with zero explanation?

  • What is the actual real life performance compare to high end SSD? Thanks for advance.

    • The same. When you copy one file at a time. The buffer (cache) in this will be just the same ~500MB/sec as almost every SSD.

The TLC drives tend to choke once the number of I/O operations increase. The buffer fills and then you find out the real speed of the drive.

You could always read a review, and learn for yourself if it matters for your usage or not. Most people would never notice the difference… especially anybody who needed to ask the question, and even more so if they were asking on a shopping forum like this.

I hope that doesn't sound rude, but if you don't know the answer then it "doesn't really matter" for you.

      • Thanks I have checked the review

The problem is 850 evo has way better performance in random read/write, but however both are identical in real world test including gaming. that give me a confusion as I think there is a lot of random read in gaming.

Anyway I bought one, cant resist the price :)

        • This is a budget SSD, so the performance comparison is not relevant.

You need to compare it to other $150 750GB SSDs.

Hint: there aren't any, so this is the #1 best performing drive.

        • @llama:

lol, I have faith in future bargains. If there is a big difference I dont mind to wait and pay a bit more.

        • +1

          @windwai:

I have NO faith in this bloody website.

To gain access to something the other day, I needed to move a whole box full of various brand new SSDs. Looked in the box and there were numerous 250 and 500GB 850 EVOs, some cheapo Kingstons, an 850 PRO and a couple of MX100's.

That that made me think "gosh, I need to install all these SSDs into something… otherwise they were not a bargain, they were a waste of money".

          Then I bought another one.

        • @llama:

In my case, I bought a Crucial M4 128GB for $220 years back. It was enough for me as I rarely play more than 2 games at a time. But now, I need a larger SSD to fit in more recent games.

I only buy one when I really need it. Same as my graphic card. While the Amazon MSI RX 480 is really attractive but I am holding off for Vega 11 (RX580?), meanwhile I am still using my HD6850 1GB crossfire.

        • @llama: Can I have one please?

  • +1

    Thanks. Bought ssd.

  • +2

Damn you I couldn't resist at that price!

On the plus side I can install 20 games now :D

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought one :)

  • Great upgrade to replace my 256GB SSD.
Need more space for photo/video editing.

  • +1

    thanks got one.

  • Can I install it in my Lenovo E460 laptop ? I have no idea how to find out if it will be compaitable ?

    • +1

Lenovo specify the E460 with 2.5 inch SATA drives - so it should be fine.
      http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge/…

      • Thank you

    • I have no idea how to find out if it will be compaitable ?

      OPEN IT.

If you are asking this question, you REALLY shouldn't be installing a SSD into a laptop.

      • Hi, I am planning to take it to the computer repair shop anyway to get it installed. just wanted to confirm if it is compatible.
        Thanks.

        • +6

That will cost you more than the drive!

  • +2

Thanks ordered. Unable use my $10 usd amazon credit for some reason. Spoke to amazon they are looking into it said will take a few days to sort out. Strange why they cancelled the promo gifts.

    • just ask them to give that discount manually. most probably they will.

    • Same here. Only used the $5 off referral link.

  • +1

Got one, thanks OP. Will also have to return the 500gb one I ordered last week…

  • Ordered the 750GB… Awesome deal… half the Aussie price… This will replace my old OCZ Vertex2 120GB SSD plus 750GB HDD (in the optical bay) in my 2012 15" i7 MacBook Pro… I'll throw the 120GB in my desktop for Windows and a couple of my main games… :) and the 750GB HDD can come out so I can put my optical drive back in for the few times I use it haha :)

  • +1

    Got one, thanks

  • +1

    Bought. Bargain!!

  • +1

Thanks for posting this, OP - just bought one.

Will make a nice upgrade for my old clunker laptop that I use as a knockabout spare machine.

The older 250GB BX100 that I got on previous deal is technically a better drive (MLC) and more power efficient. However in my old HP laptop I'm having to fork out on a Optical > HDD Adapter thingy to shoehorn a second 500GB platter drive in there.

So, this 750GB SSD will save me that hassle, and I can then use the BX100 somewhere that's easy to add a HDD inside of (eg: standard PC).

  • +2

Just when I had to buy an EVO 750 500gb for $188 from MSY last weekend -_-

  • Just ordered one. Thanks a lot.
Do you know about any RAM deals ?

  • There goes another SSD that would never feel the warmth of a motherboard…How many does this make now X_X
