Got this in an email from Travelzoo, Return flights from Melbourne to LAX for just over $1,000 - not too bad! I checked flights in April next year and it came in at just under $1,100.

email says:
Book your flights to Las Vegas from Melbourne with United Airlines for only $1030 return including tax. Not only are these fares valid for travel during the popular US summer, but they are also over $500 less than what other airlines are charging to get to Sin City.

Flying United Airlines, these fares are valid for travel from 1 to 31 August. Book by 1 July.

If you want to travel a little later in the year, flights in October and November are only $1080 return.

    That's a great price to get to Vegas from Melb. If you can afford a little more try to fly V Australia as the planes/service are a little better than United.

    Check out on Travelzoo a great deal staying at Treasure Island on the strip too

    To 3rd the sentiment:

    If you can afford the extra (its usually not much extra), go any other airline and avoid united, its like flying in the early 90s.
