  • Not bad, nice catch.

    • +2

…except for the ISO layout keyboard which is a complete bitch to type on if you're used to ANSI (i.e. US international layout).
Have fun hitting the wrong keys whenever you intend to press L-Shift or Return!

      • Yup only reason preventing me buying.

      • Wow I didn't know it had the ISO layout, good catch, yea definitely a no go for me than. A shame, was decent for the price.

  • Just wish the ssd is ~250GB. Nice find OP.

    • +2

It's a standard m.2 so it should be relatively easy to upgrade that

      • So something like this should work?

        • +1

In theory, any m.2 (ngff) 2280 SSD should work, so, yes, but you'll need a T5 screwdriver to open and be careful of the antenna wires.

I'll check it out when mine comes :D

        • @dodgey:
          Just bought one~
Hopefully the unit is not loud as this review said~

          @wlqrichard:

Well, if it is too aggressive, you can always use Notebook Fan Control to control the fan :)

  • Great find, ordered one.

Astonishing price drop graph on camel camel camel

  • Hopefuly if the one below can be shipped to OZ

ASUS VivoBook Flip 13.3" Ultra Slim 2in1 FHD Touchscreen Ci5 6GB RAM 256GB SSD

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/371791178223

    • Not really comparable. It's not ultra light, the screen has much lower resolution and 6GB of non-upgradable RAM vs 8GB. I know which one I'd choose.

  • Good deal. Still got my taichi though. Going strong.

  • +1

To do it or not to do it. My Toshiba Z930 is still mostly going strong after 4 years, but the keyboard is slowly disintegrating. I wonder how much a replacement for that is…

    • Well I would expect it to be on the pricey side.

My rule of thumb is to look at if there are a lot of people around you using that device, or at least the device from the very same company.

If not then there's a chance there won't be parts readily available onshore, hence ordering overseas = expensive.

      • I was quoted $269. $140 for the part, $129 for swapping it out. They (an official Toshiba service centre) are not allowed to sell just the part, so they say.

When I said I can't justify that amount for a 4 year old machine they suggested I look on Ebay. Good news: I found an Aussie seller that offers the part for $45.50, that is quite acceptable. Overseas sellers have knock-offs for half that, but they have slightly different labels on the function keys, so I'll stick with the Aussie version.

    • I replace my key board on my toshisba & it was easy.
      I'm not a technical person.
      Here is a sample video.
      Keyboards are cheap of ebay.

  • Hmmm this or wait for the X1 Yoga to come down in price?

    • You might be waiting a looong time for Lenovo to offer an equivalent for a competitive price. IMHO get this while you can.

    • Depends if you need an active stylus or not. I think the X1 series is at a different quality (and price) level though.

    • X1 yoga is still 2 heavy, just buy lavie 360 cheaper and lighter

  • Hmm, did we miss it already? It's coming up as 599 now?

    • +3

VAT will be waived for oversea buyer, price will drop to £499.99 + delivery at checkout.

      • D'oh, forgot about VAT :D Thanks

  • Bought :)
Thanks OP. I had been waiting for deal on a 13" FHD+ 2-in-1 with 8GB RAM under $1k.
If I'm reading the ASUS website correctly, I think the warranty may be international.

  • 4K, but is it IPS?

  • great deal….should only cost $874 if you pay in GBP with 28 Degrees.

    • cost $908.17 with CC for me

      • Amazon finally charged me and it came to $871.50. 28 degrees uses the standard MasterCard exchange rates with 0%international transaction fee.

  • Does this come with a UK keyboard? That would be a pain the the …

    • It probably would have a UK keyboard and a UK power plug…

    • From Amazon UK website, can't find any pictures for the keyboard layout. From Asus UK website, the keyboard shown is in US layout. I'm not 100% sure what keyboard layout it will be. As dodgey said, probably come with UK power plug and keyboard.

  • +3

Thought it over for 2 hours. Finally press the confirm button.

  • QHD? Guessing battery life will be suffering then. So tempted, in the serious hunt for a ultrabook sub 1k at the moment.

  • Bought one. Figured I have at least 24 hours to think it over and cancel before it's shipped.

    • +1

Decided to cancel my order. I think the glossy screen and washed out blacks will annoy me to no end. Will persevere with my Surface Pro for a while longer.

  • Anybody reckon this may have a good value?

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1264125-REG/asus_ux31…

I'am not quite sure, with 1000AUD you get I7, 256SSD & DDR4 RAM instead of LPDDR3 in this post.

    Ref: https://www.asus.com/uk/Product-Compare/?products=KVxcdadaEj…

Can anybody help me to pull trigger?

    Thx

    • It looks like a pretty good value device. It doesn't flip, but if all you want is a notebook, it has some pretty good specs. The battery is a touch smaller though.

    • +1

As dodgey said, the specs for UX310UA is pretty good. Bare in mind, the price might trigger import duty.

      • Does import duty (gst) come into play based on the item price or total price including delivery?

        • Import duty is based on the final price, i.e. including the delivery. For your information, here is a guide at Whirlpool, and smileymiwo also raised a similar question in our forum recently.

      • ORDER ONE FROM UK AMAZON TO AVOID GST, THANKS

      • But upon check-out, the raw total comes to AUD 902.

I read from elsewhere that the threshold is AUD 1000. If that's the case how would it trigger import duty though?

    • I almost bought one of that on Black Friday when it is like $669 USD.
Then when I research more people say Rose Gold in fact is Pink under white / sunlight (check that on some random goole video myself), then I end up removing the item from the chart.

  • Thanks! Good value for a flip style machine - find these super useful for train/plane etc. I have an old XPS 12 that is probably near the end of its effective life, so I grabbed one :)

  • Anyone know any information about the warranty on this product for use in Australia?

    • +1

As far as I know ASUS offers international warranty, whether it is 1/2 years I do not know.

  • I ordered one :-) Daughters High School Christmas
Replacing the big old ACER, I liked, she hated.

  • Shows up at 600GDP for me?

  • I think about this for more than 90 mins and finally bought one.
I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 and I absolutely love it, but it was getting slow (i5 4200), time to move on.
Total price at checkout with master card ~ $913.
    Tks OP!

      • If it is the same as the 2016 version, at least the RAM and SSD will be easily replaceable.

It will have an AU power supply and US keyboard too.

        Battery is smaller though

        • Far better cpu 😊

Someone cut and paste and didn't check?

For those who have ordered, did your unit get send out yet?
Mind still saying "Preparing for Dispatch, Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate."

    • Yes, mine says the same…

    • Same…. Wouldn't want to be in a rush would you.

      • Yeah, I'm really hoping to have something before Xmas. I'm even considering ordering the core M version from Amazon US instead.
        https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GHQOD8U/
Slower CPU and only 1080p, but fanless and 512 gb SSD (or 256gb) and IN STOCK!

    • Spoke to the Amazon customer service today and advised it would be shipped today.

Asked for free upgrade to express shipping to make up lost time but was told it's too late to change delivery method.

    • Received a dispatched email. It says the arrival date is 9th December.

    • Anyone still waiting for dispatch date estimate? Purchased on the 26th and its now the 5th. Hoping to get before Xmas.

      • Yes still waiting…. Terrible service from one of the world's largest e-commerce vendors.

        • Tried their online service. All I got was;
"I have checked the details and I see that the order is not yet dispatched. I'm so sorry for the delay. I've forwarded the details to my concern department and I'll ensure that the order gets dispatched as soon as possible.
Once it is dispatched, an email would be sent to you with the estimated delivery date."

Not much help unless the "concern department" gets me an estimated date.

      • Ok, got my notification now. Due 13th.

    • Yeah I finally also got mine, was surprise and annoy with Amazon on how long it takes them to organize the send out. I was on the support chat Sat to locate where it is with my order.

      • Is it a US or UK keyboard layout? Seemed to be conflicting opinions on what it was.

  • Likewise, confirmation overnight that it has been dispatched and AU delivery is the 13th December.

  • Mine's out yesterday, and says Amazon that it will arrive on this Friday (9th Dec)!

  • Mine shipped out Friday 2nd and is saying scheduled for delivery tomorrow (8th), but it only left from Germany this morning so I'm doubtful of it arriving before Friday. Either way, it's coming soon :)
I had a look at one at The Good Guys on the weekend and it was very nice, extremely slim and the screen looked great and felt responsive.

    • My tracking shows mine is traveling around the world from UK to Germany, US East coast, and now west coast!

      • My parcel finally arrived at Australia.

Got mine today, build quality is unquestionable, very nice and I would l would say nothing worse than my Sony Vaio Pro.
However I absolutely hate the following:
    1) Keyboard is UK, my god, I cannot even found @ without bringing up the on screen keyboard. I straight away go online and bought the keyboard stickers.
    2) The mouse pad is absolutely shocking. It is way tooooo sensitive. I remember it takes months to get use to the Vaio Pro Multi Touch touchpad but this one on the ASUS is way worst.
At last, it does comes with usb LAN and the power plug is UK.
I believe the plug is detachable but I simply don't know where to get one for the AU type, tried ebay without luck, anybody can help?

    • +1

Thanks for reporting. The keyboard placement really puts me off.

Considering to refuse delivery so it will be sent back to Amazon for refund:/

      • How do you refuse a delivery? I haven't done this before.

        • +1

I asked the Amazon customer service and he confirmed i could just not accept delivery.

        • @ryangoal:
          Thanks~

    • Is it all right for you to take a photo for the keyboard? I really want to see the difference (I am considering to refuse the delivery. ) and is there any settings to adjust the sensitivity of the track pad?

  • Another issue I found with this unit, it doesn't have backlit keyboard, which I found very useful and disappointed with this laptop. >_<
