…. or you could just buy the $0.75 1.5L bottles of sparkling water from Woolies or Coles.

The positive of a sodastream is being able to make it whenever you want which, if you were using sparkling water, would mean that you had to have a couple bottles all the time. I don't have a huge amount of storage space and the soda stream takes up about as much space as a single bottle.

      shame

      SHAME!

      SHAME!

    • A lot more arduous and a lot less fun. I have one and the kids love it, esp. in summer. I'm aware of the whole boycott and divestment campaign, but I have no complaints with the Sodastream company.

  • how much is a carbonation cylinder and how many bottles can you charge with it?

    and lol

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sodastream-triple-pack-1l-fuse-…

looks like $50 for a refill gas bottle

  • $21.95 for gas bottle exchange at Harvey Norman (we have a Sodastrream attchment in our Samsung fridge).

    • Sparkling water on tap? Same as the chilled water on tap/ice crusher? Plumbed in?
      That sounds good.

      • Yes, water plumbed in, soda steam bottle screws into socket in door; sparkling water comes out of chilled water dispenser. There's a bar in front of water "paddle" (thev thing you press for water) - flip up for ice, flip down for sparkling water: brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Lol since when do OzBargainers care about the colour!

  • I just drink water….

  • I recently bought the Play and took it back. The instructions say it takes 3 presses for 'highly' carbonated water. It took 6-7 goes to get the soda water just sparkling. I used to have the original base model called Jet. It was a much better machine. I read reviews on the Play and others had the same problem. When I took it back and explained about how much gas it uses to carbonate one bottle, the salesperson replied "well, that's the price you pay for a modern piece of equipment". I said "What? To use twice as much gas?".

Anyway, I wouldn't waste my time on this model. Either look for the old model Jet or go for another level machine.

    • Could be just pumping half as much gas per press.

    • why would it matter how many 'presses'

for the same volume of water (at the same temperature), the same volume/pressure of CO2 will be required to get it to the same carbonation level

The sodastream canister still has the same volume of CO2, so unless your finger was getting tired there should be no different in the amount of co2 taken from the canister to get your water carbonated

I go the play and get nicely carbonated water with two 1 second press and if I want extra jizz I press once more. Might be that your machine or the bottle inside had an issue?

To be honest I have changed now the carbonating bottle twice at KMart and the second time it gave much more jizz than the first exchanged bottle I got. Maybe there is differences in quality and quantity or I just got unlucky.

I might buy these but I got no more space anywhere :P

        extra jizz

        much more jizz

        Lol…

        • +2

          Oh bugger… What did I typoed :]

        • +1

@datafellows: one second press for jizz — there's a medication for that, or at least I'm told

        • +1

          @Prh:

          :D

  • Sorry, I should have added that I only got about 25 x 1L bottles of soda before the gas ran out. That was with a 60L canister. So there was a definite difference. Some of the reviews I read had similar problems.

    • +1

Similar case with my first exchange. My original 40L cylinder lasted longer than the 60L exchange :P

      Shame.

  • Does anyone know where you can buy the 10lt bags of diet coke/coke zero/pepsi max syrup?
I find the ss flavours a bit ordinary.

  • Does the free-shipping only work with another Sodastream Play? How about buying something else, say, a printer, to reach $75? I am browsing what else can I buy.

    • If you are a new sodastream owner you may want to make up $75 order with various sodastream accessories and consumables - the sales is intended so that you want to buy those and end up being a regular. Choose $17 twin-pack 0.5L bottles, one $7 fruit and one $6 tonic/ginger ale you will get exactly $75. They designed $75 threshold for a reason:)
