  • Thanks op

  • Great price, thanks OP.

I just called my local Harvey Norman and they price matched this deal. That way I can combine with AMEX $100 off. Even better!

    • Split 2 amexs and even cheaper haha

    • How do you get the $100 off Bigdeal?

    • City West HN in WA refused to price match stating local OW nearby all out of stock and unable to match online price.

      • They will try every reason not to price match

    • AMEX $100 back - "Excludes purchases of … Apple products"

      • Bummer! How does AMEX know what you're purchasing? Has anyone successfully had the $100 cashback on an Apple product?

        • +1

yes I did it and got the email confirmation from amex

  • Thanks OP. Bought!

Worth it for a device released October 2014 ?

    Not sure

It's an old model, that said, it's still a very capable model.

Comparing it to alternatives, Android flagship tablet market uses chips from similar era (Snapdragon 805, Exynos 5433 and Tegra K1) or uses mid-range chip from 2016 (Snapdragon 652). Other than Google Pixel C (which was more expensive than this), I don't think I can think of any model that uses better chip than iPad Air 2 (other than the one that Sony made with Snapdragon 810, which used Snapdragon 810).

I guess this says more about whole tablet market than iPad Air 2, but you get the gist.

It's mainly the storage that is a good deal. 128GB vs my current 64GB on iPad Air first gen. Much more room for offline Plex shows/movies for the kids.

      • +1

I would've thought 64gb would be enough for quite a lot of shows..

  • Cool just in time. The old one is on deaths door.

I was waiting for an offer like this on the Air 2, until I scored an iPad Pro 12.9", 256GB cellular thats 2 months old for $600 off FB Marketplace.

    • +3

So someone sold a $1650 RRP ipad pro for $600? Sounds too good to be true..

        • Can I get a TLDR?

        • @MasterNoob:
Maybe ask at your local Camera Shop, quiet an old model now but some stores may have NOS

        • -4

Wow so much hate, as they say jealousy is a curse…

      • I haven't seen an iPad Pro anywhere near that price on facebook marketplace.

        • -2

Based on that evidence they don't exist?

        • @Cheap Charlie:

          Something like that.

    • Link for Marketplace please

      • It's the middle icon (at the bottom) when you open Facebook app from iPhone. Not sure about android.

        • So essentially you are buying off a Facebook "Buy, Swap and Sell" group, yes?

        • @blerk: nope, Facebook has it's own marketplace now. Similar to Gumtree, people can post ads in marketplace without joining any group

        • @Jimmy007: Yep as
          Per Jimmys comments.
I exclusively use marketplace to search eBay classifieds now.
Handy when posting an item for sale, place your add in Marketplace and tick the boxes to auto display the add in your relevant groups which you are a member off to increase the exposure.
Control your add edits if required from Marketplace, auto updates the posts within groups which is far more convenient that chasing down all your individual listings in each group

  • Is this on sale at the moment? Until when?

  • Still waiting for deals on the iPad Pro.

I'm also waiting for hell to freeze over.

    Which will come first…?

    • There have been several deals over the last 2 weeks.
One of the retailers who were part of the eBay 20% off offer had 9.7" Pros.
There was a deal on the weekend with reduced price points including Pro 9.7 & 12.9 (I am pretty sure it was HN)

Also noticed iPod touch 6 32gb about 20% off apples price, at $284, almost same price as 16gb.
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/ipod-touch-…

Bought 2 for my kids for Xmas.

    • I still have my one unopened, bought over a year ago for that price :/

      • Yeah, seems best price around that's not grey etc. can't really see point of iPod touch now apart from gadget for my kids. Still seems overpriced as are most Apple.

  • Is this model Wifi Only or Wifi + cellular?
The name says "ipad Air 2 Wifi" but the item details say that it has LTE connectivity.

  • No offence, technically TGG has a better deal than this ONLY IF you are planning to buy few more things off TGG.

    IPAD 128 GB: $688
    Current cash back offer: $80

This brings the price down to $608 (already better than officeworks)

you can add $25 digital subscription store credit

brings the price down to $583

here you get $50 store credit,

if you buy something else on top to make your final bill as $700… you can get $100 store credit.

      Isn't it expired already?
      Also:
Purchases of Apple, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Jennair, Falcon, delivery, installation services, Concierge Service Plan, or Gold Service Extras and Gift Card purchases or purchases utilising previously earned Store Credits do not qualify for this promotion.

Read the fine prints carefully, they said "up to $80"
For this particular model, Air 2 128GB, TGG only give $35 store credit

      • Correct!!!

my apologies, lucky i didnt pull the trigger :-)

        thanks for correcting me!!

  • Guys, do you think jb-hifi will pricematch this?
I know I should give them a call but just wondering if anyone has done this?
    Thanks

    • HN will. I just got 1 from HN like 30 minutes ago. No question asked, besides whether I want extra warranty cover, whether I want anytivirus for my new iPad, whether I want a tamper glass screen protector, and whether i want a weather proof case.

      • Not all HN will price match. See my comment above.

    • The JBs I've visited don't ever price match iPads. Still worth a call in case your local does.

  • I'd get a Pro for a 150$ more and have a current device with 3-5 years usable life.

(btw, I did, on one earlier deal).

    • Any suggestions where?

It seems to be at least $300 more for the 128GB or $200 for the 32GB model.

Unfortunately for me I need a minimum 64GB model iPad Air or better for my 9 great old school.

      Grrrr!

I would much rather the pro but I'm already scared about what's going to happen to such an expensive thing going to and from school each day.

      • Thats what you get insurance for and a good case.

  • Thanks got one.

  • +1

Any idea when this deal will expire?

  • Note for price matchers.

Picked up one of these on the weekend from JB (matched to HN price at the time). Took it back yesterday and asked nicely if there was anything they could do (including a full refund if they couldnt do anything). They had no problem refunding the difference, so cant see how they wouldn't price match OW. They were surprised at the price drop.
If anything there has been a wholesale cost reduction to clear out stock levels perhaps for a new model next year, though with March as the prediction seems quite early.

    • Went instore (Cairns) and there were clearance tags on iPad Air 32GB and 64GB. I would say that the new models can't be far off.

It will be interesting if Office Works (and others) beat this price in the boxing day sales.

I also need an iPad Air 2 for my son at school in 2017.

  • JB price matched and I was able to use the 10% off Ultimate Kids Gift Cards from Coles. Although at $30 each, it took some time to process.
