Air France A380 - LHR-CDG £80 Return

141

London to Paris return from only 80 quid in economy or if you want to be a tad more posh fly business for about 200 quid dearer. (Bad British impersonation)

Could well be the cheapest flight on an A380 in the world!

Great deal if you're already travelling to London soon, or are one of those enthusiasts who like to rant about seat pitches and engine noise.

  • How does this benefit Australians?

This is more of a bargain for the French and Brits.

Putting an A380 on this route is very curious. Central london to northern Paris is a little over 3 hours at 40UKP by the EuroStar in quite comfortable seats.

    • I agree. If you count the time needed to check-in, pick up your luggage etc, the train is much quicker.

      • I too agree. I am quite happy on the EuroStar and will in fact be doing the London - Paris trip return in November. I do still believe this is a good deal if you want/need to fly.

So Australians don't travel to Europe and wouldn't want to know about a cheap flight between 2 of the most popular destinations?

I know my folks are going in about 6 weeks and would love to benefit from this. Big plus from me!

    • It does get tricky …

I've also got a friend who's planning to travel to Europe, that might've benefitted from a deal like this …

I'll defer to the other mods.

      • I traveled to France last September and caught the EuroStar to London. Had the A380 flight option been available back then, I would have considered taking it.

    • To justify the merits of this deal:

General statement: "It does not benefit Australians as the deal is located in UK/Europe."

Justification: There will be quite a few Australians attempting to escape from the cold weather here, to enjoy summer in the Northern hemisphere. Their trips may include visiting London, and on the occassion that they wish to travel to France at a reasonable cost, the overall experience of flying in an Airbus A380 would be taken for granted. For frugal enthusiasts who already have plans to London, a mere 80 pounds is an excellent opportunity to experience the Air France A380 first hand, rather than dishing out $700+ for QF31 SYD-SIN. Therefore, the essence of a 'bargain': being able to achieve a certain consumeristic goal while expending a lower outlay, is certainly fulfilled.

    • thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Australians don't visit London or Paris?

    • I agree with foundit, this is a bit of a grey area. But this can still be taken advantage of by any Australians travelling overseas. If something was sale in a shop overseas which did not do postage, than that would definetly be deserving of a neg vote.

  • I don't see the logic of putting an A380 on that route - it only takes an hour at most by plane and as someone else said, 3 hours by train. £80 isn't too bad if the A380 is as good as I here it is though.

    • I don't really know too much about the economics of running aircraft but I guess if its a busy route (which i'd imagine it is) they could have less A380s running taking more people - saving fuel/staffing costs and being a point of competitive difference maybe?

      • i concur. landing spots are extremely limited at Heathrow

just fyi the Hong Kong - Singapore route is so busy, Singapore Airlines simply replaced one of their 777s with one of these superjumbos and still kept all the other 777s running up/down. a week from tmrw, it'll be already a year that they've been doing this. that was probably the first short-haul use of an A380 ever

  • I wasnt too positive about the idea of a bargain from such a far away land but considering its peak season for Australians going to Europe I would agree that this deal could be useful to many.

  • Not really a deal for me, but if you're an enthusiast or someone who is travelling, it may appeal to you. I won't neg it though.
