Not as good as the $10 renewals and new membership last month, but still decent.

For those who missed out on the previous deal.

Better Deal

What's with the Neg? If it's not the best deal available, fine! It's still a deal.
I did check beforehand and thought all the existing The Coffee Club deals are expired.
If people are going to be like this I might as well not bother posting deals I find and just leech.

      • +4

Don't take it personally, it's just to make people aware there's better deals available.

      • +1

It's to alert members that there are better deals available

Wouldn't you want to know that before you clicked into and bought a deal?

      • +3

It's funny because a few years back they had free membership on here which I snapped up. I had many an overpriced coffee as a member but haven't renewed since they decided to charge even us ozbargainers, and I've been a handful of times since.

Cheap comparison to normal? Sure. Bargain? No, the coffee isn't that good and the food is overpriced

      • "If people are going to be like this I might as well not bother"

        Hahahahahahahaha.

Welcome to generation snowflake, where everyone gets a prize.

        • +1

Not that I'm expecting a prize, in fact there seems to be no benefit to posting deals besides the desire to give back to the community that I have benefited from.
And Sir Casm, you seem to be making assumptions about which generation I belong to. I assure you I'm not a member of the "privileged" post-1990s generations.
But it's fine, I'll just fade away to join the leeching masses and feed off the generosity of other deal-posters, whose hard work I now appreciate much more.

        • @edvoon:

Looks like you've been part of the "leeching masses" for a while - 1 (pretty average) deal in 2.5 years is hardly contributing.

        • @Sir Casm:
I never claimed to be a big contributor.
In fact I only posted this to try to contribute even a little bit. Sadly the experience has been underwhelming to say the least.
But that's fine. No stigma in being part of the leeching masses who are in the greater majority.
Kudos to you and other contributors who are so efficient in hunting down deals for us.
If that makes you feel superior, you can pat yourself on the back.

        • @edvoon:

You posted a deal that isn't the best available, what do you want exactly? Many members if put in that position just choose to get the post deleted, so as to not confuse other members.

If you were a member, clicking into this deal, would you be pissed off after you bought through this link, to find out that it wasn't the cheapest? You'd start wondering about the OP's morals wouldn't you, wonder why he didn't just link to the cheaper deal and say 'oh shit sorry my bad, didn't realise, click here for a better deal'. Instead you're choosing some 'woe is me' attitude about my neg vote.

You might wanna have a look in the mirror about your attitude on this post.

        • @Spackbace:

          Happy?

My point being that there isn't much tolerance or guidance given to first time posters. Who may be ignorant of the particular etiquette of the forum that can't be learned just from leeching. Instead of being given a gentle nudge on what should have been done, they get smacked down.
I'm just pointing out my experience with this posting. If you don't accept or like feedback - well then please ignore this thread altogether.

My morals are fine, thank you very much. I like what I see in the mirror.

FYI, I can't even delete the post. Maybe that's a power user privilege?

          @edvoon:

There is a significant amount of information regarding forum etiquette, style & FAQs all intended to make deal posting a bit easier - I do concede the responses can be a bit sharp sometimes, but displaying poor attitude will not be well received as you've probably realised - by all means please continue to try and contribute deals if you find a bargain, but given this is a very active community with dedicated members, the content is very closely scrutinised and curated (by means of neg voting or reporting to mods) to maintain the high standard of deals & bargains and not just spam / advertising.

  • slap in the buddy face for regular customers who pay $25/year

    • Yeah after paying full price for 3 years I realised that they always have deals around this time of year, and signed up for a new membership that expires just around this time so I can take advantage of all the specials.
But then, even at the full price of $25 it's still worth it for the 2for1 coffees.

  • Never tried this but if you bought 6 coffees will it be charged for 5 or charged for 3?

    • It's supposed to be 1 free per visit I think, so if you buy 6 in the same transaction you will get charged for 5.

But in practice they aren't really strict about it.
I have gone in with 4 people and only paid for 2 coffees - by ordering the first 2 coffees and then passing the card to someone else to order the other 2.

      • I have been a VIP member for over 4 years, and the deal with the buy one get one free card has (To my old fart memory anyway) always been that you can purchase 4 coffees and only pay for 2 per transaction (Plus 10% of food Mon to Wed). Some of the shops I use around Perth CBD told me that the 4 cup limit is a hard limit per day, but I have tried it on my morning coffee run from work, picking up 4 for 2 price, then done another 4 for the price of 2 in the arvo. Granted that I do not go to the same club shop for my arvo pickup (I am only picking up one coffee for me, and sharing the savings with my works mates. I don't actually drink 4 cups at a time myself :-) ). Hope this make help.

      • ah ok. So the card is pretty generic. Thanks for the tip.
