Just received a text message from ING.

Open an ING DIRECT Orange Everyday in July & get $50 (paid in Aug). U could also get $5 monthly bonus until Dec 2010. Qs? Call 1800 130 561.

This is for existing customers that don't currently have an Orange Everyday account.

Before the end of July you need to:
1. Call up and register for the promotion to get your $50.
2. Transfer money (any amount) into your new Orange Everyday account
3. Activate the physical card you receive in the mail.

I can vouch that the Orange Everyday is a pretty good account.
* No account fees
* Unlimited EFTPOS
* Visa Debit card
* No ATM fees if you withdrawal $200 or more (they even pay you the banks ATM fee)
* They pay you 50c every time you withdrawal $200 or more using EFTPOS

You can also take advantage of the bonus $5 monthly for depositing $2000 or more per month. This one is open to all new customers.

      Actually, I just called them and this promotion is ONLY for exisiting customers that open up new Orange Everyday accounts. I'll edit the post.

        My Savings Maximizer account was automatically closed in March this year after years of inactivity…
        …but after calling them I still qualify for the $50.
        I'm not sure if my savings maximizer account has been resurrected yet though.

    In the sms it just says you need to make a new account in July. I assume that means if you apply online it'll credit you with $50 in August..

      I thought the same thing, but when I called up the lady seemed to have to 'activate' the promotion for me.

    I had 2 accounts, and I called them up, advised me that I'm not eligible for both promotion.

    I asked them to close one of account.

    Would anyone know if I can open new account, and can get promo?

    Somewhat-limited. I just called them up, and this is for existing ING customers who don't already have an Orange Everyday account. Quote - "For example, if you have a Savings Maximiser, and no Orange Everyday account, you can open an Orange Everyday account to get the $50 bonus."

    I have an Orange everyday acc from the previous promo, so that makes me ineligible. :( Ah well. Don't know whether I wanna go through the hassle of opening a Savings Maximiser, then closing and reopening it the Orange Everyday. For anyone who tries, it'd be nice if you could let us know whether the staff you spoke to said it was ok. XD

      The only fees I've found are the international transaction fees when using your visa debit overseas (the standard 2% everyone seems to charge).

      You can also make free withdrawals of under $200 at the post office.

    How I do this application all 100% online,and 0% by phone?

    (I am an existing ING Direct Saver customer with no Orange Everyday account. I am eligible for the $50)

    I am disabled; cannot ring telephones.

      Use the National Relay Service. Allows you to make phone calls without having to listen/talk. Best thing ever.

      Go to your ING Direct online account, click on 'My Applications' and follow the application process.

      Just be sure to also deposit any amount of money into your new account to activate it, and also activate your physical card when you receive it in the mail.

    I just signed up for this. Then I rang ING to ask if I had to register the account for the promotion. I'm not sure if you have to register, but you do have to do the following to get the bonus…

    The ING cust service rep said you need to do the following two things before the end of July to receive the bonus $50:

    2. Activate the physical card you receive in the mail.

    followed the instructions, called the nice people at ing, they said my $50 would be debited in first week of august, too easy :)
