I just found this link to get free membership. Hope it helps someone out there looking to get a membership, but doesn't want to spend $89 like me.

Cheers

    It is always free…

not free if you put an OZ or NZ address, but many people simply put another overseas address & then change it. That said, Virgins velocity program is much better for flights, for example to USA. Qantas taxes & charges are insane. Almost as much as a cheap ticket & you can only generally get Qantas ff tickets to USA when there are cheap tickets. Much better to us Qantas points on domestic USA flights, flights USA to Canada or OZ domestic flights at last minute.

    Old news

Tell me one person who paid for this membership? :)

Didn't it used to be $50 in the early days? I vaguely remember paying something…

Though I regret it now: they deleted 200,000 of my points on a series of technicalities! (reduced the expiry date by 1.5 years while I was working overseas and I had no idea, my Qantas credit card is linked to my partners so only she gets the points even though I was buying dozens of flights on my card, and lastly they decided to stop mailing me info and email instead but they somehow managed to never email either…)

I ring/write them expecting it'd be an easy fix… nope!

Since then they've steadily removed the easy ways to earn points to keep your account active, and are about to reduce the worth of our points again ("for our convenience!" I bet!)… who can be bothered keeping up with all their dumb rule changes?!

I used to fly my whole team exclusively with Qantas (and pay for everyones Lounge Club membership too), but not any more! May as well just go the cheapest flight… Worthless cheating predatory jerks!

pretty much similar story here, except i never paid for it =) As a result I also hardly ever fly with them now

      I paid :(
This was before I discovered OzBargain, didn't even occur to me that it could be free. I think about that lost $89 every day though…

Ill go easy as I see L plates, and 7 people have liked this, so someone musnt be aware this is something that has been continuously free via various channels for many many years, Its actually a faux saving of $89.50, and this particular offer expires 31 December 2016. Cue January 1 with another offer of free QFF membership.

  • Thanks OP x

    Thanks for the post.

Came in handy for me as I needed to sign up my wife and didn't have to go searching for a free signup link :)

There's lots of free links (The company referal is the suffix at the end of the URL)
Here's the Woolies one which doesn't expire.

  • Thanks OP, I've been looking for this!

Woolworths is still the easiest one to use for free. Never expires.

    normal price, no deal

Airlines world wide charge nothing to join award programs, Qantas should do the same, but then agin try and get 2 x J award seats from OZ to USA virtually impossible.

  • never realised you had to pay for this?

got mine free years and years ago

Whenever I fly eligible Qantas flights, I use my American Airlines AAdvantage number. It's easier to redeem from AA you only need 10k miles to redeem an Aussie domestic one way flight plus fees/taxes.

Thanks OP, I did not realise it was always free so this was a very good find for me.

Thank you, I also didn't know it was free and managed to sign my partner up. All these negative posters. Good on you for sharing :)
