~$90 worth of games for $9 is a pretty good bargain.

        • +40

          You're a lucky dip.

    • +3

JV, not technically a lucky dip. Lucky Dips are randomly chosen games from a large selection that includes really good and really bad stuff. These 7 games, if I am not reading wrong from OP or the Square Enix site are fixed full priced games and is the same for everyone. Only difference is that they will release the names of the games at a later date.

        • +2

          https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/lucky_dip

Notice the word "Random" in the definition? The games comes from a fixed list that is provided by Square Enix. Even though you may already have some of the games already, it definitely is not "Random"ly given to you.

See how over 130 people think this is a good deal? If you dont like the idea, dont buy it.

You dont have to like it for it to be a good deal.

      Edit:
Imagine a deal was posted for 10kg of assorted cadbury chocolate for $5 but you didnt know exactly what ones you would get until it arrives. You dont think that would be a good deal still? It would be a great deal (for everyone but you apparently).

      • -3

See how over 130 people think this is a good deal?

        Out of 2414 who viewed it… That's about 5% of people who think this is a good deal… 95% don't think it's a good deal…

        • +2

Maybe if you were smart enough you would realise that not all viewers vote on the deal… so you should probably relax and cop the loss this time.

        • -1

          @sebshot:

not all viewers vote on the deal…

          exactly… Only 5% voted this as a good deal… The rest didn't

        • +4

Oh wow. 5% of people clicked like. Just like pretty much every other deal posted here. Suggesting the difference between number of likes and number of clicks = dislikes is absurd.

Only one person i have seen complaining about it.

Lets see what else must NOT be a deal because it has 5% likes

How about the top voted deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/277705

Nah no deal, only around 5% likes……

BTW it has 0 negs. So out of thousands of views, not one person thought it wasnt a deal? 100% upvotes makes me think you are wrong.

Edit: JV, making people hit their 24h downvoting limit since 2009.

EDIT2: you didnt answer my question. Would 10kg of cadbury for $5 be a deal if you didnt know what blocks were going to arrive?

        • -1

          @Duff5000:

Oh wow. 5% of people clicked like.

          yep, 95% didn't.

        • +2

          @jv:

          ….. wow.

Did you fail comprehend my post? No point spelling it out for you again. Go back and read it. Quote me directly if you want to reply with something worthwhile.

Not going to acknowledge that 5% is completely normal for a deal or reply to me question then just dont bother.

        • -1

          @Duff5000:

          ….. wow.

          yep… only 5%…

        • +2

          @jv:

Only you could mistake 100% upvotes as 95% down. You argument is pathetic.

Oh look that bejeweled deal you posted was only upvoted by around 5%. It must not have been a deal.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51656
          Great logic you have there.

Again you avoid actually coming up with a reasonable argument. Quit your trolling.

        • +4

@jv: 2414 people viewed your junk comment, 5% voted you down, the other 95% think you're a complete waste of time. I like your logic, it works!

        • +1

          @Duff5000:

No, you stop feeding the troll. You're making yourself look like an idiot.

        • -4

          @Duff5000:

    is this usd?

    • +2

      AUD :)

      • +3

probably best to use 28 degrees or similar as it's processed by Square Enix EU.
I made this mistake and probably have to pay additional =(

  • Just cause 3 will be in it, but DLC included? We'll see. U reckon they'll give episode 1 of hitman too.

    • +3

The entire bundle of 7 games is worth "over £55". Just Cause 3 with expansion pass DLC costs £59.98 on Steam, which is more than the entire bundle is worth.

    • U reckon they'll give episode 1 of hitman too.

Hadn't thought of that, that's a good point actually. They probably will so they can try to sell people on the rest of the episodes. Might buy after all.

They ripped us off last year, let's hope this year isn't as disappointing

    • +1

Agreed but they allowed us to get a refund. Anyone know whether the t and c are the same this time?

      • +4

        I contacted their customer support asking;

"I'm interested in the Holiday Surprise Box 2016.
If purchased from Australia with Australian (AUD) currency, what will your refund policy be?"

        And received this reply;

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix EU Online Store Support.

As stated on our website: "All transactions will be made and kept record of, reimbursed and accounted for in the currency you used for your purchase."

        Which I understand to reference the return policy;

You have fourteen calendar days, counted from the date of reception of the merchandise, within which to return the Product, with no obligation of justification or payment of penalties.

The Customer must first notify the support team that they will be exercising their right of withdrawal in by emailing the customer support specifying 'WITHDRAWAL OF ORDER' as the reason.

So….. I'll be purchasing and hoping for either Rise if the Tomb Raider or Deus Ex : Mankind Divided, and probably refunding if it contains neither of those games.

        Hope this helps people.

    • +4

      ripped off?

•Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
      •Thief
      •Final Fantasy XIII
      •Life is Strange Episode 1
•Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

how much did they charge for this?

      • As far as I recall, it was the same price last year.

      • I wouldnt have been happy. Only Episode 1 of LIS seemed pretty churlish. Thief was pretty disappointing. FFIV is pay to play, isnt it?

Pity as they used to have quite good deals in the past.

  • My guess…

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or Just Cause 3
    Rise of the Tomb Raider
Life Is Strange Complete Season 1
    Hitman Episode 1
    Final Fantasy VII
    I Am Setsuna
    The Turning Test

    • +7

Big call the first 3! Would be absolutely stunned if RotTR is in there.

    • +3

LOL I would gladly pay $8.99 just for Rise of the Tomb Raider alone.

      • +2

I just paid $22 for the 20th Anniversary Edition. Great game, well worth it!

    • +4

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or Just Cause 3 is "worth" £39.99 on Steam at the moment.
Life Is Strange Complete Season 1 is "worth" £15.99 on Steam at the moment.
Those two games alone add up to over £55, so this list may be a bit over-optimistic.

    • +1

reckon you could be right on Life is Strange Complete, Hitman Episode 1 and a Final Fantasy game. Would be fantastic if it was Mankind Divided but Invisible War may be the Deus Ex game.

    • +1

      Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Not a chance man. Game is still too new.

      Rise of the Tomb Raider

I'm really hoping for this, but it's a very very slim chance, judging by how crappy the discounts have been for this game so far.

I reckon Life is Strange complete season will be included.

      • +1

Yes, DE:MD is a long shot but I seem to recall the Tomb Raider 2013 game being included in the 2013 xmas surprise box so you never know what might happen.

Just Cause 3 does stand a better chance though.

I suppose the last of the Final Fantasy XIII games also needs to be included at some point too.

Anyway, they say 7 games so here's hoping that there's two AAA titles. Easter box was a bit lacking in all honesty; as was last year's xmas box.

  • +1

    What platform is this?

    • +1

      NVM, only PC..

  • please add PC in the title..

  • +4

"Since they´ll be delivered as individual games, you´ll be able to spread the festive cheer by gifting them to your friends!"

All this says to me is it will have stuff they have given away before.

    • Sooooooooo I got it anyway.

      Bargaaaiinnnn… hopefully :p

  • +2

Nosgoth was such a great game

Wish they made more kind of like that but maybe with bigger better traps

  • +2

Hope it includes final fantasy 9 or 10, would be worth it just for one of them. Hoping it's not all the other square games I've bought during the year lol, if so I might have some keys for giveaway

  • -8

    Full version or demo?

  • Based on previous trends of giving us what was in the previous one's (Easter) discount offer, I'm guessing Just Cause 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

    • 7 games though.

      • There's always 'filler' games… but the main 2 games appear to have a trend of being offered at discount at the previous mystery box offer.

        • I've not made that connection but you may be right.

        • @ChillBro: You're right… half a trend… I still reckon we'll get JC3 this time, and there's a 50/50 on RotTR…

Easter 2015: 20% off Life is Strange 2-5, 50% off Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris [Received Life is Stange 1]
Christmas 2015: Received Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris, 10% off Life is Strange 2-5, 10% off Just Cause 3 [Received Life is Stange 1]
Easter 2016: Didn't receive Life is Strange, and didn't receive JC3 - 20% off JC3 and 20% off Rise of the Tomb Raider

  • "PLATFORM:PC DOWNLOAD" and "Treat yourself to a seasonal selection box of digital delights worth over £55!" sound like to me it will be no hard copy just download token.

    • +2

Yes. This is the same as every year. Easter and Christmas. It sits on your Square Enix account and they're all steam keys that you add to your library and can then download.

  • Anyone bought it already can shed some lights?

    • +48

Yeah, it was great watching the money leave my account and getting the confirmation email. A truly magical experience, I highly recommend.

      • +15

I think he's going to need more detail to inform his purchase. What was going through your head at the time? What did you have for dinner last night? What were you wearing?

        • +12

Without going in to too much detail, I [Mod removed].

  • Seems OK to me, sold!

  • +1

The easter one was pretty sweet.. count me in :)

  • +1

I'll probably give it a gamble. If either Turing Test or FFIX are in it, it'll be worth it for me. I always miss out on the Square Humble bundles, so if they chuck in an old Tomb Raider or Legacy of Kain game, that'd be sweet too.

  • Bought. Thanks OP.

  • Will the download links become available on the 19th of December?

    • You'll get steam activation links sent to you on the 19th

      • Site says 20th,
Code Distribution Period: 20/12/2016 from noon GMT

        though it's noon gmt so 10-11pm-ish on the 20th @ gmt+10-11?

  • If anybody buys the box and it ends up having Rise of the Tomb Raider and/or Deus Ex: HR that they don't want, hit me up - I'll buy it off you.

    • +8

      $8.99?

      • Zing!

But honestly that's a really good idea.

  • -4

I only want Rise of Tomb Raider, it'd better be in it!

    • +2

Some wishful thinking in this thread.

Honestly, your chances are close to zero.

  • +4

Final Fantasy I II III IV V VI VII

    • Drooling Noises

    • yes please

    • +1

For a game with "Final" right there at the start of the name… they REALLY seem to be against ending things, don't they?!

      • +2

nor the kind of fantasy most people have in mind either

        • +1

You'll have to wait for Final Fantasy XXX for that kind of fantasy mate. Might be their last one at that point too.

        • AHHAHAHAHAHHA

  • +1

I'm taking the risk in hopes of it including Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD

    • Huh…Didn't realise that was on steam, pity my laptop can't run anything interesting.

  • Could be a silly question- but these are physical copies?

    • +2

Steam key issued upon purchase. Activate via your Steam account.

    • +2

      No. Digital.

  • +4

I got the surprise pack in 2013.. I still haven't played any of them yet lol

  • +1

Bought and if we don't like what's in the box, cause a big fuss like last year and get money back. 0 risk investment!

  • Hope there's something final fantasy in there.. kupo!

  • Maybe they will include Sleeping Dogs? Great game that is :)

    • Wish I could get past that first escape event right at the begginning…

    • They had Sleeping Dogs in the Easter Surprise box already.

  • Thanks, bought it as a present. Hope they have stream lol.

  • This is my prediction so please take it with a grain of salt. I think they will give Life is Strange (the whole eps), Hitman Absolution, Eps 1 of the new Hitman, Tomb Raider definitive edition, FFXIV, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Final Fantasy XIII-2 this time.

    • +1

These were the games from the Easter Surprise Box this year:

      FINAL FANTASY VII
      FINAL FANTASY XIII-2
      Sleeping Dogs - Definitive Edition
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut
      Quantum Conundrum

So I don't think DE:HR or FF13-2 will be included.

Lightning Returns stands a good chance IMHO.

  • USD?
