Now if only they applied the promotion on their eBay listings and also offer a 20% off code (like what they did last time here) then it'll be a killer deal!

  • Hey, so I currently have a kd49x8300c, and am looking at upgrading this holiday period. Is the 8500D a decent upgrade? My current one doesn't even have HDR.. want to stick with Sony so far so I'm leaning towards the 55" 8500D. Going to buy whichever one I set myself to and sell the kd49x8300C

    • Would also like to know if the 8500D is a good buy. Hard to tell with TV's these days

  • Deals are heating up but willing to wait till after boxing day.. they'll get even cheaper

  • So I'm pretty new to Aus, so still getting used to a few things. Seems like this is a pretty good deal, with my limited knowledge of TGG. How does the $200 cashback work? Does it happen automatically? Or is there something you need to activate etc? Lastly, I like the fact they offer a possible refund, even on boxing day deals. Or are TGG good at using their own fine print?

    • So clicking around on-site gave me the answer. You receive an EFTPOS card you need to activate. So can this card only be used at TGG? Will keep digging

      • +2

No it can be used where eftpos is accepted

        • Thanks, just came to that conclusion while looking on other threads.

        • you need to buy a blu ray player to get the $200 card

  • Nice… but i reckon will see $50-100 less within weeks

    • 30 day price guarantee :)

      • It says right through boxing day? Does that mean including boxing/new year sales within 30 days… ?

        • Yep, if any store has it advertised cheaper, you get 110% of the difference back :)

        • 120% isn't it? What about if TGG have it for a lower price?

        • @Xizor:

Oops sorry so it is (of course)

Only works if it's a competitors price. Not an eBay sale, and not TGGs themselves

        • @Spackbace: Oh christ. I feel another impulse buy coming on.

        • @Xizor:

Nice big screen for the Christmas break…

          haha ;)

        • +1

@Spackbace: I bought a 70" a few weeks ago but returned it… too big for my 2.8m viewing distance, the upscaling of average source content was just annoying at that distance. But maybe if 65" will be better…

        • @Spackbace: Just buy TV in the morning at 1399 and then afternoon they change 1356. Bugger. Can not beat TGG themselves.

        • +1

@zack1502: That is why you use 28 degrees

        • @Colombian: But I buy god concierge from TGG so I can claim back any way. Furthermore, if other retailers drop the price within 30 days, we can claim 30 day guarantee.

        • @zack1502: Yes, but 28 degrees gives you 6 months. I have claim back $250 from the TV I bought in October. Then I made a second claim again, waiting a response from them.

No need to buy concierge service.

        • @Colombian: Good to know!

      • Has anyone ever used the 30 day price guarantee? Did they honor it or is it just a scam?

        • Yep have used it before on a smaller item, worked fine

        • @Spackbace: Hopefully its the same for for more expensive items then

$2956 for the 65" KS8000 is a bargain, it also says you get $200 bonus eftpos card. Paid a few hundred more only about a month and a half ago..

    • +2

You supposedly have to buy a 4k Bluray player at the same time to get the giftcard.

      • Yeah looks like you are right. They don't make that very clear on the Tv listing page.

    • +3

$160 more for the KS9000 seems even better to just have the best

      • +1

Totally agree. The KS8000 price dropped by $750 while the KS9000 dropped by >$1000!

        • AAANNDDD its sold out :O

        • @jabroni: Not surprised! It was the best bang for buck for a top end TV.

  • Reasonable deals but the hisense 70" 7000 and the Samsung 65" 8000/8500 (base spec I would consider) similar to prices they have been the last few months (or not quite as good)……holding out for that true bargain!

However 20% off incl price protection is nice which you won't get via eBay 20% sale.

    • +1

Good Guys don't have the KS8500. But if you're looking for a true bargain, I'd say skip the KS8000 and look at the KS9000 in this sale - $3116: cheapest price ever (or at least cheapest that I've seen!)

  • Does anybody own any of the 55' TV's? Would you go for a Samsung or Sony or spring for the OLED LG (not in the sale I know). Looking at the 8500D and 9300D from Sony if anyone owns one…

    • Samsung as per Ratings sites

For most people, the Samsung UN55KS8000 represents the best TV to buy in 55 inches. Its impressive picture quality is nearly identical to the top of the line Samsung UN55KS9500 but at a much more affordable price. Be it movies, sports or video games, the UN55KS8000 performs great with mixed usages. It can also get very bright so is a nice option for even the brightest living rooms.

  • Cool. Just ordered the Sony 65" KDL65W850C, cheaper than jbhifi.

      Care to explain?

Dodgy specials, lame customer service, desperate to sell you anything, caught them twice being dishonest about their offers.

Can provide you with heaps of examples.

        Edit: Downvoted by some idiots.

        • Do you share my dislike for Hardly Normal too? Have an up vote :)

Seriously though, getting bargains at the cheapest price is great, until something goes wrong and you go through the terrible customer support/service it then makes you regret purchasing it. and you say to yourself "next time I won't be cheap, I'll buy from some good place with good customer service like Harvey Norman's, they are always advertising how good there customer service and extended warranties are, ACA/Tracy Grimshaw are always showing how cheap HN are, how good there customer service is, there extended warranties OH and there MONSTER HDMI cables."
then something goes wrong and you say to yourself ****.

        • +2

@Wystri Warrick: I was starting to agree with what you were saying, then I got down to the part where you referenced ACA, you lost all respect from me. Journalism at it's absolute worst

        • @slimdavy5: I was trying to be sarcastic about how company's buy advertising on ACA :(. Agree journalism at its very absolute worst.

    • The only deal you've posted was for Good Guys

Well done there ;) I guess a lot changes in 6 months… Oh wait, no it doesn't 😂

Can this be price matched at JB Hi-Fi? I have access to JB hi fi e-gift cards via Credit card rewards points and this will make the deal even sweeter.

  • Haven't bought a big ticket item like this in a while, so how are the good guys at warranties. Looking at getting the Samsung Ks9000, should I buy here or get someone else to price match? Is the warranty just as good here? Because I kind of like the piece of mind of price protection leading through boxing day sales.

    • The Good Guys offer gold concierge up to 5yr warranty $228. You receive $60 store credit every year and access to rewards where you can buy Woolworth gift card with 7.5% off.

  • seriously, seriously tempted by the TCL 60" UHD TV for $773 (with $50 store credit!!)

    • Same but unsure on quality. I also might want to go 65" but hard to argue at that price

  • No smaller sets yet?

  • I am tempted to get the Samsung UA55KS8000W 55" for $1996 but scared better deals will be coming out soon.

    What do you think?

    • +2

It is a never ending wait with technology products. If it's the cheapest u can find today and you are in the market for it then go for it.

    • Buy the TV with a price protection credit card.

  • Bruce3. Went in store to see what was available. Ended up getting a Samsung UA65KU6000W (65inch) for $1596. The TV had been been sale for $1995 and then they took 20% off that reduced priced

    • Seems pretty good for the price, I might consider this one.

    • I just bought this too online but the web page crashed just after I paid for it with Paypal. I checked and my bank account was charged but I did not get any confirmation for the order..zzz….

I have sent an email to them. Lets see what they say.

UPDATE: all sorted, received a confirmation via email.

  • wow..the price jumped quite significantly from 65" to 75" eh..

Ordered 3 TV's last night, was charged for all of them and this morning I received an email stating that the order did not process successfully.

Not sure why that happened and have fired off an email to them this morning and awaiting their reply. Is annoying though.
