  • Post of the year. Great deals OP.

  • Agreed, some good daily drams here

  • $45 for Johnnie Walker Double Black - https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/Spirits/johnnie-walker-…

This is on special for 2 FOR $100 so you need to be prepared to get 2 + redeem the coupon

Plus, if there are any TM on here, don't forget it's 10% for Christmas, bringing the price down to $80 / $40 per bottle.

$49.95 per bottle at Dan Murphy's so $10 saving all up.

    • What is TM?

      • +2

        Team members I think.

  • Is there a way to use the https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/29011/42282/firstchoic…
online. The coupon says $10 off $50 spend online use as well.

    • +1

sorry afaik no online code currently valid :(

  • -5

The voucher is fake and won't work.

      • -1

That's not a "source". It's just the voucher .pdf and I'm telling you its fake.

Print it off, take it to a First Choice and then come back and tell me if it scanned or not. I've been told by First Choice management that it's not real and they have no vouchers that extend until 30/1/2017. Look at the comments here and on whirlpool of people who have actually gone in to use it. Someone has either edited the date on an old and expired voucher or they have mocked it up from scratch. Either way, it's not real and the posting of it needs to be stopped.

        • +1

          did you notice the url?

have you ever registered for top drops?

if you change the suffix of the pdf file from DEC16 to NOV16, OCT16, etc. then you will have the url of the voucher provided in the welcome emails :)

        • @tonester: in that case, it probably hasn't been activated yet (hence why First Choice said that their vouchers don't extend until 30/1/2017 yet).

        • +2

          @joeflacco:

in that case, care to kindly retract your statements and negative vote? :)

        • -2

@tonester: Why? The code isn't valid yet, hence no deal.

I'm guessing it's meant to go live on 1/1/2017. If the deal reflects that, then I'll do it.

        • +1

          @joeflacco:

the voucher is valid and has been accepted - none have start dates

but if you need the one sent earlier this month then here it is

          source: https://static.cdn.responsys.net/i5/responsysimages/content/…

          ps i didn't neg you :)

        • -1

@tonester: the voucher is not valid. I and many others have tried it recently. The one in the OP is not active. The one you posted is active. Substitute the vouchers and I'll remove my negative vote.

It's not a hard concept. You need to learn to communicate better with people rather than just spamming pdf's at them.

        • @joeflacco:

sorry but how could i have communicated better and in what way was i spamming pdfs?

  • I tried it on the weekend, scanned fine but didn't work so could very well be right that it's fake or they got smarter with multi use

  • Store told me that $10 off is for $50 spend, so the price before discount should be>=$60 to qualify.

    • +2

Uhhh no it's spend over $50 and get $10 off

      • +1

then I guess the guy that served me was too picky…

  • +1

People have well and truly abused this $10 off and ruined it for everyone. Thanks to all the people that placed 10+ orders yesterday.

  • +1

I'm surprised no one has posted this already.

sorry i was too busy with wine :)

deal prices similar to father's day, some exceptions are abelour being $5 cheaper this time and of course glenlivet 15yo was much cheaper last time

dan's also has a whisky sale which was published in newspapers yesterday but unfortunately no online catalogue yet

don't forget 2x Chivas Regal 12YO Scotch Whisky 700ml - $56 (Instore Only, after $10 Cashback) @ First Choice Liquor

  • OK guys I checked out all of the Scotch in this list and they have all been BEATEN by Danmurphy (by $0.05 or more). The prices in this list are misleading as the $10 voucher is no longer applicable. Nothing special here unless someone has the Amex deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/281456). Even the Double Black that is 2 for $100 is still more expensive than DM by $0.05 per bottle, and you have to buy 2 bottles to get that price!

^^ as usual, dan's price beats the same or next day after 1st choice

      don't we all? :)

      • I'm confused by the link, which takes me to another link. Is there a working voucher?

AMEX deal still open if anyone has the card. I got and used 2 already!

        • scroll down -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4278825/redir

feel free to retract your neg vote :)

        • @tonester: OK I revoked my vote but is there a way to also apply this voucher online (entering the barcode does not work)?

        • -1
        • -2

This one working for me a couple of days ago…
          EDIT: Online doesn't work.

        • +2

@tonester: The OP has changed the voucher but you shouldn't tell people how to vote.

If you put the pieces together, it's easy to work it all out.

          1) Someone has figured out that First Choice already have future coupons online and they can be accessed by changing the month in the URL.

          2) The coupons are monthly. November's coupon is expired. December's coupon is active. January's coupon is not yet activated, as shown by what happens when you take it to First Choice and it doesn't yet register on their system.

          3) I've had management at First Choice actually tell this to my face.

I'm not sure why you can't accept this. I'm not sure why you're pushing it so hard when everyone can just use the currently active December coupon.

        • @joeflacco:

Can anyone confirm that the December coupon works.

        • +1

          @hawamahal: I'll find out for you in a bit…
EDIT: Working for me and for tonester

        • -1

          @joeflacco:

The OP has changed the voucher but you shouldn't tell people how to vote.

i haven't told anyone how to vote but merely suggested that if i have countered the reasons for a neg then it could be retracted

I'm not sure why you can't accept this. I'm not sure why you're pushing it so hard when everyone can just use the currently active December coupon.

how am i pushing it so hard?

        • +1

          @hawamahal: it does - i wouldn't have posted it otherwise :)

        • @tonester: how do these coupons work? I typed the barcode into the checkout but the voucher is invalid

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney: It's in store only. Scan the December voucher when you pay

        • @phenomenomenom: and @tonester , thanks, reading the voucher was confused about the online

    • Should we wait for another promo? I'm interested in Glenfidditch 12yo single malt, and wondering what's the lowest price it ever falls to?

  • Do Firstchoice take Amex Mobile Wallet Pay?

  • I'm a bit behind the times. How do the Amex deals work?

    • +2

If you have any Amex credit card go to AmmexConnect and find the firstchoice offer and activate it. Activate and then buy everything using your amex. If you hit 150 spent, amex will give you 30 back. Strict rules apply (i.e. should first register the card number in AC; in one or more transaction is acceptable; online and in-store acceptable (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/281456)

      • Thanks! Looks great for those eligible for Amex

      • I tried the Amex thing now, but the offer is no more available.

We're sorry, this offer is no longer available, however you can find more great offers below.

  • +1

Just wished this worked online. tried all variations of the barcodes but nothing

I have none around me but have the AMEX deal on my card and I'm within the delivery zones.

    • +1

Go to different stores and for each store claim $10 off $50 with the coupon. That way you save for another bottle as well.

      • AMEX deal is Minimum spend $150 for $30 cash back.
otherwise I see your and agree with your logic

        • +1

"…but have the AMEX deal…" is why I commented. While you are here, can you recommend any of Talisker or Ardberg over the cheaper Glenfiddich/Glenmorangie? I have never drank any of them and have no idea. I mostly drank JW Black but liked Aberlour 12.

        • +2

in one or more transactions :)

ps barcodes are not online promo codes

        • +2

@superready: Islay is a different taste altogether.. Very peaty and smokey. I haven't tried Aberlour but I imagine it'd be closest to Glenfiddich. Glenmorangie is a very light (flavour wise) floral whisky.

I hear Talisker 10 is a good introduction to Island Whisky. Again, I haven't tried it :) I've been told to stay away from the 'ageless' Talisker lines (Storm, Skye, etc).

        • +1

@superready: Talisker is a nice drop, never had Ardberg though.
Aberlour 12 is yumo but the 16/18 year old is way way better!

        • @tonester: cheers tonester! Might have to do some driving trips!

  • Wife and I grabbed two bottles of Ardbeg for $58 each! Normally $85! Cheers!

  • Anyone know which of these vouchers is best bet to still work instore:

    January Expiry
    December Expiry

    • +2

december as some people have apparently had issues with january

      • Thanks! Will give it a try this afternoon and report back if I have any issues.

      • December voucher worked fine at Mt Gravatt in Brisbane.

  • Used this (the Dec voucher) twice at Runaway Bay (Gold Coast) on Subday and yesterday (Tuesday). Worked without any problem. Thanks OP.

    • These coupons+Flybuys really beat Dam Murphy's-Cashrewards combo. First choice is a well suited name!

  • Awesome, used today. Thanks

  • +1

This 20% off deal is now over….The $10 off for $50 spend appears to be still going though..
