        Huh?

        • He probably doesn't pay his credit card bills

        • @BargainKen:
He's probably confusing an AMEX credit with store credit

        • @jay29043: Now im confused, the Amex offer just credits you the $30 into your CC bill right? Or they give you a voucher?

        • +1

          @BargainKen:
Yep exactly AMEX credit your credit card directly it's as good as cash, no voucher

        • @jay29043: thought so

  • +8

Dupe or another round of offer?

    • +1

it's a dupe, i've redeemed mine already and can't register the card as it says that i've already redeemed.

  • +7

Pretty sure this is a dupe.

    • Was looking through the other Amex deals and couldn't find this one. Happy to be corrected though…

  • Yeah already enrolled in it.

  • -7

    Dupe!

    • +11

  • Does 1st Choice accept Apple Pay?

    • Should do, since mobile pay is just a rebadged paywave.

      • in store only I guess ?

      • Websites can also take  Pay in the same way that they might take Paypal, but I doubt any Australian ones would be very keen to because of the low customer base.

        • +1

I found some Australian websites are accepting Apple Pay on their websites.

    • +1

Yes they do, used it for mobile pay promotion.

  • Tried to enrol apparently already redeemed, I must drink too much.

  • +12

Before anyone asks: Yes, you can use it to buy Coles group gift cards. Yes, I did receive the email. Yes, the credit will come.

I'm thinking buy bulk gift cards and use them to buy my new MacBook from Officeworks once JB has another 10% off. 10%, less 5% price guarantee, less 20% from gift cards, less salary sacrifice (assuming the use of gift cards is ok). I could also get the GST back, but I don't want to lug a laptop around Europe, and it would be over the limit for when I return so I could have to pay it back anyway.

Edit: Is there a manual link? It isn't showing up on my Amex Velocity Escape supplementary cards. The primary card is fine though.

  • is first choice gift card same as coles myer

    • +1

      No, different.

      • What is it called exactly and where can it be used??

    • You can buy Coles Myer gift cards at First Choice, I did and got the credit

      • Online or in store only?

        • +1

in store definitely can buy as I did it.

        • +1

In store, I bought 4 $150 cards with different Amexs - no problems. I didn't try stacking them.

        • @desperate: What do the cards look like? Where can they be used?

        • +1

@sween64: They look like Gift Cards, with the words 'Coles Group & Myer Gift Card' written on them. There are numerous different designs. At my store they were behind the counter and I had to ask for one. You are able to load any amount you want on them. I got $450 and paid with 3 x $150 payments from 3 different cards with no problems. They can be used at Coles, Coles Express, Target, K Mart, Officeworks, Myer and other stores in the Coles Group. Got the emails & got the rebates

  • Not available online, only instore.

    • Out of stock in Burwood VIC

  • I don't have an Amex. Whats the Ozbargain choice? Also looking for a CC for overseas purchases mostly through Alibaba/Aliexpress.

    • if your after QFF points ANZ black has a good deal atm but only first year free.

    • +1

Overseas purchases get a Bankwest Platinum Zero.

Qantas Discovery by AmEx has no annual fee. Look for the OzBargain referral wiki.

      • bankwest is not amex?

        • +1

I know. But El Grande is also looking for a card for overseas purchases. I suggested one with no foreign transaction fees. Two cards for two different purposes.

        • +1

@sween64: ah yes my bad didnt read yes bankwest zero plat is great card for OS

      • What about the Virgin version of Amex? Points can be used at BP for fuel. Am I missing anything?

        • No. Look at bluesky's comprehensive post.

    • If you're after points, the Coles Rewards Mastercard has no overseas transaction fees & an equivalent point earn rate of 0.87 Velocity points per $ (I got 1pt/per $ in the recent 15% bonus promotion). Free additional card holder as well with the $89 annual fee I think

    • +1

Several people have been asking about Amex card lately; my comment here provides some info, and may help you choose.

As for CC for overseas purchases, 28 Degrees CC is one. It does not charge any foreign fees. They recently started charging 95c for bpay to pay off account, and this annoys lots of people. However, if you do not mind using their online support area to pay off the statement (i.e., provide your account details for them to withdraw the amount), or use direct debit, then it is worthwhile considering. It is still my main card used for overseas online purchases. Hope this helps.

  • Used this yesterday worked a treat 👍👌🏻🍻

  • Manual enrolment link from original post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279431
    https://offerenroll.americanexpress.com/enroll/EnrollmentSit…
Apparently not a dupe but when trying to register.
"Oops, our records show that you have already enrolled in this offer. We limit the number of times that a Card Member can enrol in each offer."
Action > shakes fist in the air, wishes could get the deal again.

  • can't get there $10 sign up bonus to work :/

    • online or in-store?

      • yah online says sign up eith email first time for $10 off lets you sign up but thats it not sure how it applies.

        • You'll get a email with a code. Takes a while to come through

        • @Soluble:kewl thanks been waiting couple of days lol snail mail :)

  • Is it possible to buy a gift card (eg JB Hifi GC) at Coles, with a Coles Myer Group GC?

Not asking if you're supposed to or not, I mean if I did self checkout would it work?

    • I tried it with a straight coles egift card, and that failed. Yet to try with a coles or a colesmyer standard gift card -.-

Will try soon, problem is this trial and error business takes up 10 minutes of my time every time it stuffs up!

Before they coles had a major update it was the same as woolies, but they've done a good job stopping it I think.

      • Yea its a pain/ sometimes embarrasing when it wont work and you have wasted 5 mins of the attendants time…

Let us know if the grouo card works, very interested to see!

      • I seem to recall someone mentioning Coles updated their systems so that not even non-Coles gift cards (eg, Westfield) will work for gift card purchases now.

        • After the update I managed to purchase google play cards with coles group. I tried it the other day with an egift card and it failed. (Used a standard coles myer card the other time) I will try again next time I need to buy something from Bunnings. I can 100% confirm you cant purchase coles group gift cards with a Coles gift card though. They are activated differently though. Will see what happens

i received a new $10 code today, and worked. 5EUF33DQ

    • +1

Thanks so much Jakeh, this worked for me just then!

    • worx

    • Funny I got the same code a couple of days ago!

  • Hey with the limits like 'limit of 10' etc. If I make two orders with the same card will that circumnavigate this limit?

    • Stores can cancel these if they're not cancelled instantly. Quite often multiples are picked up prior to going to the srore system.

      • What if the orders were on different accounts but with same card. Is this allowed?

        • +1

Stores don't see cards, but we also wouldn't know what doesn't get through. I would say it would probably work

        • So with three new accounts and an AMEX card I can get 120 cans of Steamrail Pale Ale for $120 heh heh

  • I visited Ashfield store today and North rocks in Sydney. Both of them said they are out of stock of coles Myers gc. Can someone please tell me the store where it's available in Sydney?

    • There were plenty left at Naremburn 2 weeks ago. Maybe call first to check: 94328300

      • Called Naremburn today, out of stock til after Xmas. Pretty sure most places have run out

    • Cashier at Forestville store says they will be getting some in on Wednesday. Brookvale has loads (>50) when I visited this morning.

  • yeh i made trips to Ashfield and Maroubra stores and out of stock of all gift cards other than the First Choice branded ones. Anyone know if this is actually limited to the store or can it be used elsewhere?

  • Any tried getting them to load a blank coles Myer card from another store?

    • +1

Definitely not. They won't touch it at all. Tried in a couple of stores in WA.

      • +1

Lol … I Wonder what they would do, if I helped them restock and then sent a friend in to load it up.
