  • Is it imported (from France) or imported from some contract brewer, or made locally?

    • Looks like its made locally under licence by Coopers

      • I used to buy this around 15 years ago before it made its way into stores commercially (like we see now), and it was the fully imported stuff, and was paying $80 odd a carton. I am happy to give a little in quality for a product that is half the price I used to pay.

Can understand the desire to want the "real thing" - but for $40 I won't sneeze at this one.

          Agree 100%

      • The Coopers Sapporo is really good, so this also could be good.
Anyone got personal experience between the 2?
French 1664 is fantastic, but so many contract brews are not even attempting to match the original that you need to be really careful!

Most people drink beer for the taste, not for the label…

  • hows this taste like

    • I actually really like it, for $40 you can't go wrong. Compared to some of the other beers around this price range!

  • for 1664 this is crazy cheap! for basic lager drinkers i can't see you getting much better for your money.

  • I bought it and like it but this deal is a dupe https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279274

  • You can buy both versions at Dans. Fully imported or local.

    • Guessing you're not getting the Imported for $40/carton though

      • Don't see why not. I remember when this was $10 a six pack I got the import.

    Yes I bought it yesterday.
