I think the Lenovo Zuk 2 for $169USD posted a few weeks ago from Banggood is a better buy than this one.

    Elephone. never again!

Same with me and Xiaomi phones, I don't know why there's such hype on this forum about these phones.

I've had 2x note 3's, now the Kate version. What a POS, never again. I'm put off Chinese phones. I might give the Lenovo a chance, after that no more Chinese bleep for me

      • I don't know what phones you've been using but it's the opposite for me I'm loving my redmi note 3,and absolutely hated the lenovo phones I had, so filled with malware and other crap.

        • +1

Xiaomi note 3's, one kenzo, now Kate.

Xiaomi's come with malware and other crap also.

          All vendors use similar ROM.

I have flashed mine to official still having problems, the kenzo I had keep hanging up also call drop issues, the one I have now freezes and reboots.

I don't know if it's my luck, but second time round I'm beginning to think there just s###

my lenovo note 3 has slowed down something shocking and the malware/bloatware is ridiculous. time to flash it with a new ROM - but I'm up to level 547 in candy crush.

        • +1

@altomic: If your device is rooted, you can back up the app data to an external location using Titanium Backup.

        • @altomic: with candy crush can you just link to facebook and it will re sync when you re install on new devices?

          @bti_jet:
You're either just unlucky or bought from the wrong store.
I'm not going to disagree though, the only Xiaomi phones we can buy will have malware, but these are shop roms and not official Xiaomi roms as the real ones don't have play store (or malware).
I recommend flashing CyanogenMod or atleast official MIUI8, these are both very good roms and I have had a great experience with both.

          @bti_jet:

100% agree with you. They are rubbish, and I have owned a couple. The software is what ruins them.

        • @Spooderman:

I have always been on official miui8,that's the first thing I do remove vendor rom, my phone is still a POS, nothing but problems.

What do you think the problem is now?

I believe it's hardware, I'm not the only one to say that the Kate model is freezing and rebooting.

        • @flogbag:

I've reflashed all of them with cm and official. Still a POS that was plagued with problems

      • The obsession. Well I recently went to a store that had a deal posted, and the person behind the counter said that I was the first caucasian to come through after hundreds of Asian people that week. I think a lot of the Chinese like the Chinese phones.

        • Surely, They do..

One thing for certain I will never buy another Xiaomi phone again. Makes me wonder which idiots actually buy the $300+ Xiaomi phones, specs and designs look really good.

Other than that your just paying top dollar for a nice looking pos, I'm convinced there rubbish phones I don't think I have that much bad luck with phones, I've also had bad experience with ulefones

        • +1

@bti_jet: im agree, most chinese phones looks good on paper spec and photos only, but im disagree with xiaomi brand. they looks to have good quality

        • @dragonindespair:

Other Xiaomi products I've bought have been excellent like mi band and power board with USBs.

Although all the Xiaomi phones I buy are rubbish, never again.

I keep getting sucked in because all the OzBargain posts about the Xiaomi phone, I figured I had bad luck the first time. Now I bought the Kate model (b28) thinking It will be OK, rubbish.

So much hype on here but the Xiaomi phones makes me wonder which idiots think there really good.I only use the phone for basics like calling/SMS/browsing no games or anything. As I said specs and designs look really good, other than that it's just a garbage phone full of problems.

I'm not even gonna bother sending it back for rma, I bought through AliExpress

      • My Xiaomi Kate works just fine.

        • You must be one of the lucky ones, mine starting having problems after a week or two

  • no B28, pass. sorry.

    • what does that mean?

      • Band 28 which I think is LTE?

  • My goodness, the likeness is uncanny.

every phone are the same now, one big screen and one (apple) or three (android)_ buttons.
      humanity isnt creative anymore.

      • +1

Not just that but look at the curves on the side edges on the back. That's a carbon copy of the S7/S7 Edge. The very phone this thing was named after. They're not even ashamed of it. As you said it is difficult to make a unique looking phone, but would they have come up with this particular design before Samsung did? Or is it just a massive coincidence and they both independently came up with the same ideas?

        • thats why they can keep the price down.
          i dont mind tbh.

disclaimer i never own small brand chinese phone. i had apple nokia HTC samsung lg and now huawei.

  • Even took the s7 name…fail

  • Just on China phones. The Goods ones I've had are Meizu and Oppo. Currently using an Oppo R7 (which replace the shit awful malware ridden Elephone P7000). Works brilliantly!

Waiting for the R9 to drop in price under $300 and I'll buy one.
