Has anyone got any feedback about Re Reward? Never heard before and "Contact Us" link doesn't have any Aussie number. So can't trust them

  • +6

Definitely seems dodgy. Over a week to send out giftcards and only one available is the highest denomination?

I got the same email today to my legit email account. No idea how I got signed up for it.

  • Sounds pretty good, I might buy a whole heap and resell them for $465.

  • No paypal? I am not buying it.

    • +7

Don't forget Paypal has no buyer protection for gift cards.

    • nowadays forget about Paypal's buyer protection, you will keep getting this and that bla bla bla no buyer protection… after you paid!

OK, figured it out. This is the same company that runs Blatchy Blues Rewards via this old deal

    • And that deal has great votes.

      • Maybe as it is tied to a Rugby team as this is tied to nothing and seemingly spamming people without any notification. Also can't check out…

R(eal) E(state) Rewards - Hmm the Real Estate industry is populated with the most trustworthy & respectable people walking this earth.

I'm surprised they're not offering a discounted bridge package.

    giving this one a miss.

Sounds to good to be true and the risk outweigh the savings in my opinion.

Can't seem to check out. Getting:

Credit Card Number is a required field.
Credit Card Expiration is a required field.
Credit Card CVC is a required field.

    • Did you try not to pay?

      • +1

        Putting no CC details gets:

Error: There was a problem connecting to the payment gateway.

        Interesting.

    Sounds like Affinity Alliance

From the comments it sounds like it's not worth the risk. Waiting over a week for dispatch and $4.95 postage is bad.

  • Pass.. not worth the risk..

    I'll just leave this here..

    • Thanks definitely pass.

  • I think they are Scam. I got the email as well from Re Rewards. I think somone must have got data of our emails from cash rewards or from OZbargain.

    • OzBargain doesn't pass any information to any 3rd parties.

      • Good to know. Thanks Neil

    • Did you sign up with Blatcheys Blues?

      • i am signedup with blatchey blues. but i have 2 emails signed up with them. Got this re reward thing on one email Address only. Also i don;t use this email address with Blatchy blues. haven;t logged in with that in ages.

  • Got this:

Hi guys, logged in to say thanks to everyone who raised the red flags on this one. Over the year since joining I've come to appreciate the online user community on this site. In my, highly subjective, opinion, this site managed to attract one of the most intelligent online communities (however odd it may appear on a first glance), at least in the au domain, and it is a community in a sense that users tend to look after each, without knowing each other even in the virtual space (amazing). Simply belonging to OzB seems to be enough to extend good will and cooperation, another amazing thing, especially in our combative times. Cheers to everyone.

  • I did not see all the cautionary comments until AFTER I made my "purchase". Now I feel stupid. What are the obligations of my Amex card provider, Westpac, to do a charge-back if the Wish Card does not arrive? This Re Rewards place went via an American payments portal, "Stripe". Therefore the payment from my account to stripe could be held to be legitimate, just as Stripe passing the funds onto ReRewards is legitimate. If the scam is then that ReRewards keeps the money and supplies nothing, I fear that Westpac may not be willing or able to charge back against "Stripe", who are theoretically an innocent 3rd party. Oh, what have I done…..

@ ssmith3104: hopefully it works out all well for you at the end. If you don't mind, appreciate if you keep us posted on your story, see how it ends.

    @ Moderator neil:
I had somewhat negative reaction after initial read of the posted deal and the users' comments but refrained from posting it, since didn't think it would meaningfully add to the discussion. But ssmith helped to put my finger on the issue.
Most, if not all, of the deals posted on the site are bona fide genuine deals without a scamming element, and over time regular users tend to assign a higher trust weighting to the site. Even with the overseas sourced deals, such as mobiles and electronics, there could be issues with waiting times, etc, but no outright scams, not to my knowledge at least, plus people would naturally be more alert wrt overseas shipments.
What irkes me in this deal specifically is that right now we have an absolutely safe, and repeat, deal with 5.5% discount on WW egift cards, tried and tested many times, and this post pops up, almost on identical item but with better discount, and effectively sneaks in on users who understandably have a lowered guard: you might miss out on a great deal by simply being slow, and we do have great deals on OzB, genuine and authentic, which are gone in a matter of hours.
If this turns out to be a dodgy stuff, the deal poster sort of cleverly manipulated the site and its audience, and that just doesn't smell or feel right. Definitely not OzB way.
I'm sure you guys have your business reasons for whatever is posted on the site, after all you've been maintaining a completely free access for users. Just maybe be aware about your well-earned reputation being cynically milked by some unscrupulous posters. That's about it, cheers.

    • Deal poster manipulated the site??? U on drugs? I only posted what I thought was a deal. All these comments about being a scam are just speculations. I'm not associated with the site, I thought was a bargain so posted it.

    • I Wouldnt say the deal poster manipulated it. the guys posted what he got in email. i recieved email as well but i choose not to post it as it was too good to be true. i have written a reply to them where they got my email address from in first place as i am not subscribed to this website and all of a sudden it popped up.

      • Thanks gillfrompk, that's exactly right. Got an email so i posted it thinking was a deal. Not sure why there's a troll making assumptions.

  • Looks too risky. It's possible they will just disappear in the new year as after Xmas the demand for gift cards drops off. Might be their at cost sell off?
