TPG 4G SIM Only Mobile Plans (No Lock-in): 6 Months Half Price, $19.99 7GB or $15 3GB, Unlimited Local & 100 Mins Int'l Calls

181

New customer only! First 6 months only!

Be aware, $10 sim card fee(unrefundable), $20 security deposit (could refund if you insist or go to TIO), it seems they are not charging security deposit now according to the minimum charge amount and the comment of phunkydude.
$11 port out fee (could refund if you insist or go to TIO)

$10, 1.5GB, $550 CALL VALUE (includes international call)
$15, 3GB, Unlimited local calls, 100 mins international calls
$19.99, 7GB, Unlimited local calls, 100 mins international calls
$24.99, 10GB, Unlimited local calls, 100 mins international calls

Personally, I prefers Vaya deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/277084), no hidden fee, no port out fee, but also no international calls & Roaming. Today is the last day of the promotion. However, if you need to make international calls, I believed TPG is the best MVNOs in Australia that offer international calls in the plans under $20.

Merry Xmas!

+ve for heads up regarding 'security deposit'.

  • so im currently on a $20 per month plan and it's 1.5 gig one listed above. as an existing customer, is there any way i can get it for $10 since that's what it seems to be for new users?

edit: nvm i just realised the prices u listed are with the discount for 6 months only

The Optus $30 starter SIM kit on sale for $10 almost every week at WW/Coles/OW/Optus Ebay.

    • Better Signal
    • 6GB data
    • Unlimited Calls and Text
    • $5 International Calls
    • this sounds like a cool ozbargain way to maximize value.

How does this work? Do you just top up with each carD?

How does this work? Do you just top up with each carD?

You have to inconveniently port out to another sim and then back in every time.

    • Lol better signal….

    Thanks, OP!

Great post, highlighting gotchas which may be deciding factors for some OzBargainers.

Personally, staying away from TPG, looking at the way they do business, requiring TIO to step in.

  • Are there any other providers which include international calls? TPG seems to be only one.

  • !
Thats a hell of a deal. I'm paying $65 a month on optus for the same business as the $20 plan (though mine includes a phone)

Mobile data market is heating up more than melbournes weather..

The SIM fee and port out fee add significantly to the cost of a discount plan.
I recently left TPG, due to a better deal (for me) at exetel, who have no hidden fees.

until they decide you are using too much of your monthly quota and boot you off …

      • +1

Exetel, the ISP that boots you for using the plan how they said you could.

        • Wasn't aware of that. So far i have had no problem, but am only in month 2.

When you say 'using too much of your monthly quota', is that data, SMS/MMS, or voice?

  • $10.00 & $15.00 plans for 1st 6 months,small print says $20 & $25.00 minimum charge?

    • It is the 1st monthly fee plus the $10 SIM card fee.

Also Vodafone network, rather than optus on Vaya.

    • True, Vodafail. A friend of mine was using TPG, had to move to Optus becoz of poor network, would miss phone call out of no where. TPG was good when it was with Optus.

      • i'm with tpg/optus-3g and the optus network reception in metro brisbane is sh*t
i've received vodafone sims from tpg but have delayed activating it until now

        • IMO Voda is now better coverage than Optarse in a lot of areas.

If they got rid of the sim fee ,deposit and crap port out fee I might consider their service again.

  • I think Kogan has better deal except no international calls.

  • Vaya is the best deal

What the heck are tpg doing, security deposit. Taking the piss. No way would I signup.

    • Yeah I'm surprised TPG still collects that fee. Surely the cost of having to get the TIO involved makes it prohibitively expensive?

      • More people take the hit than complain to the TIO.

The roaming deposit is ridiculous. $500.

      • Yeah it used to be an already ridiculous $110 too.

      • +1

And also, annoyingly they take it instaltly, but u have to request it back when u return and it takes them a week to process.

  • Great value but boy, their persistent customer service really piss me off sometimes

These guys are alright while you're with them, but when you leave, like the op said, they make up some bs reason to keep the security deposit, dunno what sort petty scam crap shop they are running but never dealing with tpg again no matter how cheap they get

  • Pretty sure no security deposit on previous half price $20 1.5gb 550 calls , 6 months $10 deal.

I advice NOT to go with TPG mobile. I am a current customer - their data network is not working now (for me and also some others as per the customer service person). I was told it'd take one or two business days to fix. So, I'll be without internet for three or four days…

Their billing system is also not good.

  • $10 SIM card fee adds $1.67 per month
    $11 port out fee.
Need to spend lots of efforts in order to get it removed.

  • Just a note also their $19 plan does not include mms, they are and additional 50c per mms, i've been caught out before with telechoice doing the same for their plans.

  • The plans don't include unlimited mms other providers have unlimited mms
