    $300 For a video doorbell????
Oh wait $79 for solar powered "security sign"
Which is a $2 garden solar light with a sign attached saying "Protected by Ring audio/ video surveillance"!!!
    https://ring.com/solar-sign

They're dreaming son, tell 'em their dreaming.

  • How much does the stick up cam come to delivered as cide not working for me ?

  • Amazing doorbell. Highly recommended. I've got a Pro btw

  • I am having difficulty getting the promo code to work or seeing the prices in USD. Any advice? Thanks!

I'll say it again, $79 for a $2 solar light with a sign attached to it??? Tell 'em they're dreaming.

  • I'd recommend walking into jbhifi and buying it off the rack. Got the ring for $248 and the chime for $57. Used cards I bought from the 10% off coles offer some while back too.

It's a cool gadget but make sure your home wifi router is close to your front doorbell. I had to buy an additional wifi extender for $69 too.

And lastly professional installation for power use instead of battery can be costly too.

    Just my two cents worth.

    • When did you buy? Just ask for a better price?

      • Bought 2 weeks ago. Just asked them to do a better price. Given the current $50 off promo, jb may be willing to better that.

        • Cheers - they did not want to better that! :-)

          Best price was $275!

Showed them the $50 off and off they went to talk to the manager, a while later he comes back and said when he looked it up it was $299, so had to explain the code (which he asked where did I get it from - 'ring email newsletter'), so he begrudgingly matched the exact shipped price of $253.95.

        • @SnakeDoctor:

          Good work!

Let me know how u find it. And be very careful with first install as mine got bricked and had to request a replacement.

        • @bkx3virgin: eeek! bricked - how shall I avoid that ?

        • @SnakeDoctor:

Just let it update the software for as long as it needs. I think I restarted it becos it was taking too long to update.

  • They're not waterproof, which I thought was pretty useless for anything other than large houses. Definitely not for terraces where the front door is readily exposed to the elements

  • Saw these in Hawaii Costco last week. On rebate for us$169.
With our falling $ , best to get em in Oz I think.

  • The code is not working for me & its not in US dollars only Australian dollars?

    • From what I've worked out
      - to get the discount in AUD - put the promo code in capitals - BOXING50
      - to get it in USD, I'm using CyberGhost 6 to get a US VPN. (It is a free program.)

It is technically not boxing day yet in the US so I am waiting to try the promo code later.

Also to get the solar light sign for free - add it AFTER you put in the promo code to the cart.

      • Thanks, I purchased with hola vpn on the US site with code "GIVERING" for $50 US off, BOXING50 didn't work for me on the US site. Hope that helps.

  • Just received mine from the Amazon Black Friday sale for about AUD$180 before going away for Xmas and already had a few uses out of it when friends and relatives came over without knowing we were away. Coming from one of those eBay wireless video doorbell which costed me about $130 3years ago the price was very reasonable.

  • I looked into this last year or so but didn't think it was a good purchase, mainly because back then how this works is that it needs to connect to their server first. What if the company goes belly up? You will end up with an expensive $200 door bell that will not work at all. Can this function like a normal wireless video doorbell that will just connect straight to the app without internet connection, as long as they are on the same network?
