Surely this price is complete BS, for a product like this? Almost 80 AUD? For what?

    • +2

If you think that's complete BS, you should check out the price of some coloured paper.

People who know how to use this know the value of it. People who don't will think it's complete BS. :)

      JV levels of ignorance

    • +1

might be a complete BS for non proffesional photographer. But, for real making money proffessional photographer, this $80 AUD can make him earn minimum of $300+ at one go depending of what kind of shooting he is offering.. so, no BS….

  • This product saves heaps of time, and is definitely something you could not make yourself.

This seems to be a very good price.

It seems to say exclusively for Prime members?

    • free 30 day trial. just be sure to cancel

  • Erm, OK well I am enlightened then… sort of… I guess I just assumed that with the thousands of image editing/manipulation apps/software packages now available for free, that it was pretty likely that some of them could do what this can do, for free. But now I realise that it is actually hardware of some sort. Of what sort, I remain ignorant.

I guess the question I should have asked is 'can someone tell me what this thing actually is, without reams of marketing crap / industry jargon included in their description?'

This is a camera calibration target and calibration software for Adobe Lightroom (not just a piece of coloured paper). It is necessary because colour perception is subject to ambient light levels, and the ambient white point. So to have accurate colour reproduction in your photographs, you first take a test photograph of the calibration target. The software analyses the test photograph and corrects colour casts using the reference patches on the card.

A famous recent example is the what colour is this dress controversy. If colour calibration was applied to the photograph to remove the colour cast, then none of that would have happened.

      • Absolutely awesome description/info alvo, thank you kindly for taking the time to explain all that to me so well.

        NOW I get it.
