I've found BigW and Harvey norman both use the same fujifilm stuff to print. So if BIG W isn't on sale, Harvey norman is! Or either way :).

Anyway, just something to keep in mind for future if you're looking to do one of these prints and you find that big w doesn't have any specials.. check out the harvey norman photo printing website too!

Anyway, thanks for the post mate! :)

    • Good to know, thanks.

Have you printed one of these before? Any idea what kind of resolution is necessary for a good quality print?

ive printed from big w from the sale deal, the exact same size. it's quite good. im very happy with it.

I took my pic from a 16MP photo and had to do slight crops but otherwise turned out well. I reckon any modern smartphone will be fine - but make sure its sharp even after you zoom in.

I may get a few more seeing this deal.

  • yeah, I want to know about the resolutions required to produce a quality print.

My last print I did on this size was 4068 x 2304 and 4352 x 2176. This is by no means the minimum resolution, but both turned out beautifully.

      • Thanks for that, it certainly helped me. :)

        • remember to crop a little more on all four sides because the canvas needs additional image to wrap around the edges. (the online ordering will show you where it cuts off to the edges)

    • I always make sure that anything I print is set to 300dpi. For anything that is just for Web viewing, Facebook etc. I set it to 72dpi.

I've posted this before, but photobookshop have 50x100cm canvases for $46.

Anecdotally the photobookshop ones may not be the same quality as big w but I can't back that up….We're very happy with the three we've had printed up.

Their portal downsamples everything to 12MP and recompresses. I won't use them again.

    • Are you referring to big w or photobookshop

      • BigW. I had mistakenly commented on the wrong deal before, because I got them mixed up. That other comment has now been deleted.

I had to ask BigW for a refund on a 40x50cm metal print, because the quality was deplorable. Their staff did not understand the issue, which is a simple one of image quality reduction.
