        • Hi dj2685,could you pls try log in your account first then try with the code?

So I guess forget about updating firmware then?

After getting rear-ended (with the driver in the rear car doing a runner on foot), I am in the process of installing front and rear cams on all our family cars. This is the best bang-for-bucks with respect to car cams.

    • +2

I got side-ended by a motorbike rider and now have a Viofo A119 upfront and Chupad D501 down back. Remarkable how we dont care and others mock us when we say we have dashcams - but they are lifesavers and essential now.

      • +1

Agree, cant buy the evidence after it has happened..
Out of interest, how do you rate the Chupad D501 as a rear camera? I have A118C up front and now after a rear one but not sure what to get - I want it discrete as possible.

        • It's ok but not as good as A119. Does light exposure changes very well better than A119 and handles glare better. Image quality overall worse.

    • I'm overseas until Jan 29. I'm now taking bets on whether I or the dashcam will arrive home first.

  • yeah good deal … i have not the patients to go through there fill this in then this in ….be better if they allowed to check straight out with paypal

the deal is just for one as soon as you add another it wants $120.00

if you want just 1 then great deal

  • Anyone got a SD card they recommend to pair with this?

  • I got the G1W last time and its battery died after 1 year - not sure if I should buy this one or Viofo 119 now :(

    • +1

This one has a capacitor instead of a battery; should be able to handle summer car temps better (mine does).

  • +2

Yeah… Transcend high endurance or Lexar 633x. 32gb max as per specs but this is a good size. Steer clear of Sandisk ultra cards. Also good to carry a small spare if you wanna take card out for any reason. Not the cheapest but reliability is the key.

    • +1

Lexar 300x or whatever the lower one is also has the correct type of flash storage same as the 633x and transcend if one is on a budget.

  • Had one for a while and it worked well, but stopped using it after the rubber suction cup split.
Can you buy the mounts for these separately??

    • I had the same issue with my G1W last time, I think there's something equivalent sold on ebay

  • Apologise for the dumb question in advance, but are these totally cordless and don't need any connecting to the car?

  • I had this and it's been working fine but Is there a wireless version of this to use in the back? cheers.

    • Nope. Your options are to attach a wire through the roof lining or to get a battery-powered camera like the Mobius.

    • +1

If you don't want to run a long wire to power it, you may be able to piggy-back off the power to your rear stop lights, using the contacts that are always powered when your parking lights are on. Run a wire into your boot space and terminate with a cigarette lighter socket, then mount the power supply and cigarette lighter socket inside the boot, somewhere that won't get too hot. Maybe inside the wheel well for the spare tyre?

Of course you'll also have to remember to turn on your parking lights whenever you are driving. If you forget, no video.

Don't use this method if your car is a high-end model that can detect when light bulbs blow, as your car's computer may flag an error. It will think the extra current on the light circuit is caused by a fault.

Don't be tempted to steal power from the courtesy light in your boot - in cars I have seen, that power never turns off, so you would be recording 24/7 and could easily flatten your car's battery if you left your car parked for an extended period.

      • Why dont cars provide a USB port about front rear mirror and rear window, extraordinary when so many dashcams been used!

        • I think USB ports are asking a bit too much, but some cars have an "accessory" cigarette lighter socket in the rear. That seems most appropriate.

Perhaps better questions are "why can't dashcams run direct from 12V? It's not like they are computer peripherals, so why 5V, and why a USB connector for power?".

      • legally, can you turn on parking lights 24/7?
many new cars have LED lights with auto on now, so need to remember to turn it to manually on

        • legally, can you turn on parking lights 24/7?

As motorbikes are required to have headlights on at all times in most states (all states?), I can't see anyone objecting to parking lights, which are much dimmer.

  • I have had this for the last year but when I took the card out recently to check it only recorded for 3 months and then stopped, I thought it was supposed to overwrite but never happened!

  • Are there any dashcams around this price point with a "one touch" save functionality?

    • It would probably be cheaper to buy a 16gb class 10 card and keep it in the glove box as a back up.

    • This one?… One of the buttons on the top locks the current clip IIRC

  • Thanks OP! Just ordered. Was holding out on this. Upgrading from my buyee dash cam that has served me well for the last few years

  • +1

Not sure how long everyone last but mine one started playing up after 6 months. Sometimes it won't turn on. Other times the live image would froze and the unit won't response at all.

    • Hardly a reason to neg, just because you have one bad experience after 6 months.

    • +2

bought 2 of these and they both lasted about 6months each.

    • +2

You get what you pay for. I bought this and it probably lasted 5 months before it stopped being able to remember the date. Also then took at least 1 min before it started recording. Waste of money.

        Hi drezy,

Sorry to hear that,as confirmed with our supplier:
When the car is moving, please ensure that motion detection is off, otherwise motion detection will judge the current screen is still when the car is moving at a constant speed, and the recording will be paused.
Please use the C10-speed genuine TF card, 16GB or 32GB of the best, poor quality memory card can also lead to death, black, stuck, leakage seconds and so on.

      • Mine also stopped remembering the date so it is unusable going through recordings as everything is saved as January 1st.

    • -1

      Hi lionh3art,

Sorry to hear that,we confirmed with supplier about the quality problem and
      they reply us as below:
When the car is moving, please ensure that motion detection is off, otherwise motion detection will judge the current screen is still when the car is moving at a constant speed, and the recording will be paused.
Please use the C10-speed genuine TF card, 16GB or 32GB of the best, poor quality memory card can also lead to death, black, stuck, leakage seconds and so on.

      • Hi,

It was working flawlessly until it started to play up so not sure what the issue is. I am using a Samsung C10 32GB and I don't see why the issue is the card when the unit only turn up sometimes?

  • +1

It could've just been me, but the one I received last year kept falling down.
Out of the box, the suction mount wasn't adhesive enough to the rear windscreen of 2 cars I tried. I cleaned it thoroughly.
I haven't used it properly once.

Now I'm waiting for a new aliexpress mount, hopefully that'll work.

Did noone else get that issue?
    I'm tempted to order another.

    • +1

did you put some water/spit on the plastic before you mount it? it improves the suction. You only need a little bit of it. Also you did take the plastic protector off it right?

      • +1

Yep, plastic off. Gave both the screen & mount good wipe downs. Attached the mount firmly, held down on it, waited a couple of hours before gently adding the camera. Next day it falls down.
I probably just got a dud.

        • You didn't actually confirm if you used a tiny bit of water on the suction pad?
As the Op said, this makes a big difference.

        • +1

@28Degrees: ok fair call, I stand corrected. I tried the tiny bit of water trick last night and holy $hit it worked. It's still hanging on the screen now.

Thanks catear, that was a huge help. Very much appreciated :) .

      • Spot on!
I bought the mirror mounts, but too lazy, so I used one each, the suction cup did fall off once after I pulled it but otherwise no difference to the mirror mount - waste of money, after thoughts

        dis weather tho

        • +1

Tell me about it. Expected to have to buy a replacement dash-camera today. Suprised it lasted.

  • +5

Have three of these and all of them seem to reset the date after a day. Fairly annoying trying to find the file you need when the dates are all out of wack. Supposedly an firmware update can fix this but I'm hesitant now that op mentioned he bricked his by trying to update the firmware.

    • Hi R3XNebular,

Here are some suggestion from the supplier:
When the car is moving, please ensure that motion detection is off, otherwise motion detection will judge the current screen is still when the car is moving at a constant speed, and the recording will be paused.
Please use the C10-speed genuine TF card, 16GB or 32GB of the best, poor quality memory card can also lead to death, black, stuck, leakage seconds and so on.

      • +1

        Hi gearbest,
What's the recommendation for the unit not remembering the date?

      • No issues with file corruption etc. Just the date being reset nearly everyday..

  • cheers, been waiting for a better price.

  • +2

Mine one didn't last long. I seldom drive my car (mostly weekends) and it died after 8 months.
Also the date January 1 occurred since day 1.

    • -2

Please do others a favor - use valuable neg vote option

  • -2

Tried to order this on five occasions over the past month (some of those were for Christmas) - every one failed. No word from Gearbest, just a silent refund, I assume because there was no stock.

Surely, they would know to put some indicator of no stock after a whole month? I think it might be time to kick Gearbest off Ozbargain again, paying for something only to find out (on previous occasions) two days later that I'm not going to get it via an unexplained refund is just unacceptable.

  • Ordered on the 28th and received it today (9th Jan).

    So far working good

  • still not received after all this time. :(

  • Wait tracking shows mine is in Australia on Friday.
